I posted this under the reconstruction forum, but I wanted to share my happy news with you girls here!!!
A few months ago, my PS asked me if I would be interested in trying to become the ASPS(american society of plastic surgeons) 2007 Patient of courage.
I looked over the entry forms, and although I knew the competition would be tough (I'm up against 36 people who have everything from severe burns, to limb loss) but I really wanted to give it a shot.
I was further inspired, b/c the conference honoring the winner is taking place over the course of one week in Baltimore,MD. I lived in B'more for 8 years, and go there a few times a year to see my friends.

The goal of the competition is to talk about how your diagnosis, and surgery has impacted your life, and what you've done to make a change for other patients facing the same prognosis.

As some of you know, I've been working for breastreconstruction.org for about 9 months now, and the web site is set to launch in September. It is a free website that will help women globally who are facing reconstruction, and it leaves no stone unturned from A-Z.

I am so proud of the fact that I am part of something that will change the face of breast reconstruction for so many patients.

Well, I got the phone call tonight...

I WON!!! I couldn't be happier. I get to spend a week in Baltimore in October (how fitting, that it's BC awareness month), and get to speak in front of hundreds of surgeons!

I'm so happy...this will shine such incredible light on breast reconstruction!!!!
