I really like Obama, but I was kinda upset that he had over $400.00 in unpaid traffic tickets that he quickly paid when he became a candidate.
It is surely a very small thing, but I would never in my life not pay a traffic fine? Is this just silly, or does it show a side that is a little dishonest?
Shoot, I don't know.
Hugs, Shirlann -
Oh, you're looking for an honest politician! Good luck! (We don't have them here in Canada either.)

Like I mentioned earlier, I missed the debates. I tried watching the news last night but it was just their summaries of how they thought things went and who looked good.
They said Hilary was wearing Pink and I liked that.
Amy you mentioned something in your original post about Hilary snubbing Obama. The news also mentioned that. They said she would nod her head yes when other candidates were talking except for Obama. They said it was really obvious she was snubbing him. Good perception on your part.
Im hoping they will show a rerun of it, when my husband is working.
Right now I feel like everything is up for grabs.

I'm with Marsha and Just One. I can find no favorite in either party. So far, I figure I could just throw a dart and it really wouldn't make a difference. I've never felt this way before and I have always voted.
I'm not sure why all of this has started so early and it kind of upsets me of all the money being raised and spent
to just put names out in public and keep them in front of us. Not one of these folks could run a household on a tight income/budget or rob Peter to pay Paul on our many medical bills. I don't think any of them can relate to the type lives we have - JMO.
I keep waiting for "the one" to show up; hoping I'm not still waiting next October. -
Well, I have to say something here. I've been gone all day and just saw this on the news a bit ago.
I don't know his name, but he a governor of some state. I know the face. Anyway, from what I understand he believes we should have Universal Healthcare. He also believes ILLEGALS should have healthcare too. I TOTALLY DISAGREE!
As far as candidates on either side...it's gonna be a long year. I'm not excited one bit about either side. We'll just have to wait and see who "looks" best.
Shirley
Oh, I forgot. I wasn't going to get in this discussion. LOL -

Back to the debates-- while at times it was more entertainment than informative-- for me it was helpful to see the candidates in this manner- since so many times the candidates have prepared speeches and cookie cutter answers. For instance, I appreciatre John Edwards' answer about gay marriage-- even though I wish that he was for it. I appreciate that he spoke honestly about his personal feelings and religious beliefs, and how he wouldn't let that interfere with the running of the country. While I would prefer he was gung ho in favor, I'm glad to know this side of him because it helps me to trust him.
I caught a repeat of the first half of the debates yesterday morning on headline news-- I would have watched the whole thing but a friend stopped over. I bet anyone who is interested could find it on youtube. I've already taped my question to the republicans and will probably upload it today or tomorrow.
I missed the debates but I'm going to try to catch it here.

Amy --When is the Republican debate and where?
Susie -
The republican debate isn't until September 17th. I don't know why the lag time between the two, but it's not like the elections are next month. I hope they do another democratic debate in this form. I don't know where the repub debate is.

Bill Richardson of Arizona, I believe.
I tend to agree with him on this (big surprise) because I think providing basic health care is a human right and is also probably a lot cheaper than having these folks go to the ER--where they have to be treated and for free if they can't pay. -

This is a big turn off for me-- because in politics the president is going to have to deal with a lot of people s/he doesn't like and will have to be "poticically correct" in the name of diplomacy. If she can't do that with someone who she shares a number of views, how is she going to do that with foreign leaders where there is a big disagreement. -
I was making fun of myself by posting the pic because I had started a thread that had no substance with a lot of pics and I didn't want this thread to turn into that - I was trying to say, keep the discussion going..but I clearly did not make that point.
Sorry to all the ladies that think I would sabotage - that is the furthest thing from my mind!!
I value your opinion, Amy
Love Marisa
