Thank you so much for bringing tears to my eyes and a smile to my face. Coming up on the 3 year mark I try to avoid coming here as often, because quite frankly for me avoidance therapy works better...lol. It is posts like yours that will however always keep me coming back...just to peek

There's nothing I can say that everyone hasn't already said. I do remember that phone call. When the shock wore off, I had to call them back to find out the next step because I couldn't remember anything she said after "you have cancer." That diagnosis, which came two days before Christmas, made for a very quiet Christmas. I, too, loved your hubby's comment about the opthamologist.

    Thanks for sharing your article.

So well written---so captured my experience - also two years out- also a social worker....I have avoided writing about my dx for some irrational fear about jinxing myself...
    keep writing and sharing

I was wondering if ther could be a place here on this site to archive some of these gems for newbies

a couple of posts by no surrender were also keepers

I never finished social work school. After the whole bc experience I just didn't want to go back, I wanted to stay home with my kids and I also wanted to try writing. Writing is one of those things I've always thought about doing and the cancer experience caused me to ask myself, "if not now, when?"

I loved the article...and yes, why not now. You are very talented and reminded me of the December day I got my news.

    MOTC/Deborah,
I've been away from the Boards lately, so, just now seeing this post. Your writing is fabulous - you captured so well the emotional truths of a bc diagnosis.

You definitely made the right decision to "try writing" - because you write beautifully!
    hugs,
    vicki
