I do hope this is the right catagory...Calling on any of you who believe in prayer because I need a strong prayer chain....my daughter is 24 and has two children and in a custody fight for her two precious children, my grandchildren, ages 4 and 5. The five year old is starting kindergarten this fall so because of joint custody and because they live in two different states, someone has to have primary physical custody. They absolutely can not agree on anything.
My daughter suffers with emotional problems and has had to seek help from doctors in the past, and was actually doing well until this came about but now is loosing it and I am really frightened for her. I try to be strong for her but I am not sure that I am able to really help her deal with this. She is afraid to see a doctor to get medication because she is afraid the X husband will use it against her in court.
I know that prayer changes things and there is much power in numbers... I do believe that the x is a good dad and would take care of the children but my daughter is not dealing well with letting him have control.
I thank you in advance for remembering all of us in prayer and uplifting thoughts.

Dear Sherry,
My grandmother used to say that God gives the very best to those who leave the choice to Him.
Prayers being sent your way that a solution that works for your daughter, her x and the children comes soon.

Sherry, oh my gosh. I read your post and it's so much like my own daughters situation about a year and a half ago. It was terrifying. She's 24 with 2 sons, one is 2 1/2 the other is 6. She's been married twice and the first ex got mad over a dental bill and sued her for custody. She has physical joint custody. I'm extremely close to my daughter and grandsons. We were an emotional wreck and I prayed constantly. Even though he had no grounds and wouldn't have won it was so scary because everything was under a microscope. But he dropped it and all they did was change visitaion days. After all the fear! I will never forgive him for that. My dd takes an anti-depressant, too. She got a letter from her dr. supporting her and also about her having Ethan as a patient and what a good mother Amber was. She also got a letter from her minister. She used tape recorders and we spent thousands of dollars fighting for this sweet little boy that's the light of my life. Many prayers. I finally turned it over to God and just tried my best not to break down and prayed for strength for my daughter. It all worked out. I will certainly say prayers for your grandchildren, dd, you and all concerned. I know how truly upsetting this is. I can't believe this is almost the same situation. Please keep us posted. Everything really is going to be alright. Take care.

Prayers for you my friend. Had a similar situation and it really drains you. If God brings you to it He will bring you through it. If you and your daughter have done all you can, then let God handle the details. Mazy

I'm so sorry you are in such pain. The hurt is so evident in your posts.
Sending good thoughts and prays for peace of mind and an amicable solution for you all.
Isn't any Doctor/Patient relationship inadmissible in court?
Also, isn't that what the HIPAA act is supposed to prevent?
Maybe I'm wrong but if it were street drugs--Yes, that would
be admissible.
How could Doctor/Patient be?
Sherry- I know your faith will bring you through these challenging times. -
Thank you all for rushing in with support and prayers. I really needed your strength last night. PLease continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. This is going to be a brutal battle for my daughter. We are meeting with the fourth lawyer on Tuesday and hopefully he can give us some hope. I only wish lawyers had people at heart instead of money which has been the situation in our case.
huggs, Sherry -
Sherry, went through a similar situation with my sister and her ex and it's tough. I'll say extra prayers for you and your family.

Sherry, prayers for you and your daughter and grandchildren. If my dd thought she would lose custody of her children it would literally kill her. Please know you will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Susie had some good questions. I don't think your dd's mental condition if being treated can be held against her.
Shirley -
Shirley, she has an appointment on Tuesday with a new lawyer and I will have her ask that question. Thank you for your time in prayer. We will really need it in the next two weeks.
Sherry -
You are so welcome, sweetie. I don't know what I would do if this was happening to my daughter. I can only imagine.

Sherry:
Adding my prayers and hugs for your daughter (and you) for God to bring help, comfort and wisdom to this awful situation. I know how terrible this would be for either of my two daughters, so I can definitely relate. I pray for mental and emotional strength to flood your daughter and for peace to settle into this most upsetting situation.
God love you,
Pat -
Pat, "friends" are trying to be helpful by offering meds that keep her from focusing on the issue which I suppose is helpful in a way but also keeps her from making decisons concerning custody so I am praying for her to get past this stage and begin fighting. Believe me, peace is what I need for sure... thank you all.

Sherry,
I will be praying for you and your family, I know the heartache this situation can cause, we went through a similar situation in a 2 year court battle for my grandson.
The one thing I do know is that the mental state can not be brought out unless one of the parties orders a psychological exam. And then both parties must submit to an exam. The ordering party must pay for both exams.
At least thats how it was here in Ohio. Which, by the way, the courts moved slower than molasses.
Ill be keeping good thoughts for you and your daughter and grandchildren. I know this is a very stressful time for you all. God Bless.
