excisional biopsy results

Good news, it was just scar tissue. But the nurse said that there were some atypical cells in the tissue so it was good that we removed it. She said that the atypical cells were caused from rads.
I'm extremely happy about the results but if there are atypical cells in one place in the radiated breast are they else where also? Can they be a problem in the future? I guess I dont know as much about this cancer stuff as I thought I did. Thanks for any info you can give me. I see my onc on July 31 and will have some questions for her.

I don't know about radiation causing the atypical cells---I would check with the doctor on that one. Generally with atypical cells, they like to keep a closer eye on you with breast exams and mammos/

Congrats but I am also curious about atypical cells caused by rads. That doesn't make sense to me. . . anyone?

Atypical cells caused by rads? That's news to me. I had microcalcifications and the biopsy showed atypical cells in each breast. That was 2 yrs before I was dx with DCIS this year.

I agree to ask your doc about the cells and rads... sounds funny to me too..
