I was ignorant about some forms of breast cancer before my dx. I received this in my email today and thought I'd share it. Perhaps you would like to pass this along to your friends.

Thanks Shirley, I have heard of this but not until my mets dx. Since then I have become an information junkie. I know just chatting with others in the chemo room there are so many people that do not want to know anything about their cancer, just leave it to the onc to make them better. Such a shame....

Of course, this is no more silent than any of the other types of breast cancer. It shows up as a rash, orange peel, little pimples, itchiness, etc. The problem is in the diagnosis.
It can only be diagnosed with a lumpectomy or other invasive test. It does not show up on a mammogram. Also, it is not too common and many docs have never seen it. This makes for a difficult situation, as they want to treat you for a skin ailment.
So while this is rare, it is good to know what it takes to fine it.

All I knew about bc, before my dx of IDC was.
There was bc out there.
Someone else always got it.
It was a death sentence.
The very few of my relatives that know I have bc have never asked me anything at all about it. Its not going to happen to them. Even my DD and DIL have never questioned me about it.
I sat my 19yo g/daughter down, and explained it all to her, and made her responsible for watching her 2 sisters, and making sure she jumps in if I aren't around for them all.
I THINK it went in.

Is this a video? I'm on dial-up, so I can't see it. If this is about inflammatory bc, my surgeon said I had it when I first saw him for a biopsy. Then my onc said "it doesn't look inflamed." I'd like to believe my onc.

Yes, Tbear, it is a video. I'm sorry you can't view this.

I also recieved this in an Email yesterday. I think it is
one of the best presentations I have seen and I sent it to
as many people as I could.
Guess also in the back of my mind was that this took our
Sunshine and although initially having delayed because of insurance coverage, this must have been very hard to Diagnose. I think her surgeon insisted on an incisional
biopsy --I could be wrong.
Just feel that making people aware of Inflammatory Breast Cancer symptoms will somehow keep Sunshines legacy alive.
Thanks for posting this information. -
I received a couple of responses today in my email about the video. One gal said, "All I can say is ............... WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Here's one from a fella who I "met" on a different forum where we could fight SOME. Sometimes the threads would be deleted if things got to ugly. LOL He and I used to fight all the time.
"Hi Shirley,
I had seen that video just a few days before and pased it on to all my girls. A friend who attended High School with me 50 years ago sent it to me.
.
Her daughter had been at her house a few weeks ago and helped them clear brush from the rear of the back yard. Then a few days later the daughter noticed a spot on her breast. In a few days she showed some other symptoms and so they went to the family doctor thinking it might be a spider bite.
.
A mamogram did not show anything but an ultrasound showed a mass. My friend is beside herself as some years ago she lost her son and she fears the worst. They have a preliminary diagnosis of "IBC" and an appointment with a specialist tomorrow.
.
I never heard of this before about a week or so ago when she told me about the spider bite and the lack of diagnosis from the first doctor.
.
Yours,
Charlie"
I think it's important to send this to men as well. I told the men to send it to the women that were important in their lives.
Susie, this video must be making the rounds which is a good thing.
