NOW I get the circle...it's safe..that's a nice idea..I was unsure what it was...although last night I noticed a mean comment on it and I feel the need to reply because it's unnecessary - I'm guessing it was taken care of by someone else..maybe I'll have to introduce myself to the circle now that I know what it is

Oh Emelee, please do! We would love to get to know you!!! And no, it was not a "mean" comment. That particular poster asked a very specific question of everyone and none of said you have to LIE to post in the circle! If you don't want an honest answer to a question then don't ask one! Marsha

I don't understand why the Circle even had to be brought into the conversation. They are the most supportive, caring and kind group of people I've ever known. I never could understand why there's so much jealousy surrounding it. We welcome everyone with friendliness. I assume your definition of "click" would be a group of people that post on the same forum on a regular basis and they've become friends. Looking at it that way there are several "clicks" on these boards. I seem to recall BethNy being welcomed on the Circle, as is everyone who posts there.

Come one, come all and see for yourself what a really great place it is to be and how many friends you'll make.

So, the "Circle" is a "safe" place, where there is no discord. But "Moving Beyond" is fair game for divisiveness?

Why not apply the same self-censorship in all threads?

    just sayin'

I bet if we started a forum called mean and nasty debates, people would still read it - it's like a train wreck...

Wow, unbelievable. Someone comes on and says, Oh no, please come and join us and it turns into something? I am sitting here just shaking my head.

No one is "self censoring". It is just basically an unwritten understanding from people to not argue/debate there. What is wrong with that?

The idea that anyone could censor me (or that I would censor myself) or think for one second that I would join a click obviously don't know me. My friends would ROTFALTAO at the very idea of it.

And Donna? I am not the one who brought up the circle to begin with. I just responded that in my experience it is not clicky. And to say that is absurd. AND, apparently, confrontational.

SEE-- This is how things get out of control on these boards...
b/c things people say are completely misconstrewed.
Saying the circle thread is a click DOES NOT mean it's not a fun group of girls who have a great time posting and supporting each other.
Everyone on that thread is very wagon oriented, and I was making a point that the moderators started that forum to put O/T threads over there.
HOWEVER, I'm not into the whole wagon thing-- and b/c I visit moving beyond cancer, that's where I will continue to post and read O/T threads.

    Hopefully I'm making myself clear.

Marsha whats the point of apologizing to me in a PM, only to call my opinion absurd in another post???

Well my wagon is quite cushy. I'm all about creature comforts. But I'll take a ride with you anytime Emelee. O and I'm voting for Kitty Wars too.

One of my favorite songs of late. Which is really a sort of statement on the war. But can also be applied to this topic and the pointlessness of debate.

    Belief by John Mayer.

    Is there anyone who
Ever remembers changing there mind from
    The paint on a sign?
Is there anyone who really recalls
    Ever breaking rank at all
For something someone yelled real loud one time

    Everyone believes
In how they think it ought to be
    Everyone believes
    And they're not going easily

    Belief is a beautiful armor
But makes for the heaviest sword
    Like punching under water
You never can hit who you're trying for

    Some need the exhibition
And some have to know they tried
    It's the chemical weapon
For the war that's raging on inside

    Everyone believes
    From emptiness to everything
    Everyone believes
    And no ones going quietly

We're never gonna win the world
We're never gonna stop the war
    We're never gonna beat this
If belief is what we're fighting for

What puts a hundred thousand children in the sand
    Belief can
    Belief can
What puts the folded flag inside his mother's hand
    Belief can
    Belief can

    Beth,

I was very sincere in my apology to you. You PM'd me that you felt I had personally attacked you. I apologized to you for unknowingly hurting your feelings. I meant that with all my heart and still do. Hugs, Marsha

    Quote:

I like a lot of the O/T stuff. Most of it is someone telling a funny story, something happening in one of our lives that isn't cancer related, or talking about what will happen next season on grey's anatomy (tee hee)

I think the purpose of creating the wagon forum was for topics like O/T stuff to be posted over there. I for one never visit that section b/c I think it's very clicky (is that even a word?)
Topics here sometimes get out of hand, but come on now-- we ALL know that there are a handful of girls here that ALWAYS seem to be involved with the nasty debates. We also know that there's a handful of girls that are constantly running to the moderators b/c they get offended by the things that you or I might not be offended by.

This isn't eutopia. We are all normal (okay, somewhat normal) people trying to connect in this already crazy world- and then add to that the fact that we have BC fears looming over our heads.
Sometimes reading posts about topics that have nothing to do with cancer, is just what the doctor ordered to keep my mind from wandering to the world of what ifs?
And of course I could go elsewhere to take my mind away from cancer, but being here, feels like people are holding my hand along the way...(something I could never ask of my real life friends, b/c I would NEVER want them to think I live my life daily with the aftermath of surviving cancer-- and what that actually means.

Doing away with off topic threads would be a pity. I don't think we need to remind people about responsible posting-- we're all adults here. If you have no interest in a thread, then don't click on it.
And if you're one of those people that personally attacks others, (which by the way is dispicable) well, karma will get you in the end.

    LOVE TO ALL

Beth- I agree with you. You make allot of sense as always.

This is in honor of Minnie Riperton. She died July 12, 1979 at the age of 31 from breast cancer. We may have different opinions, but we are all here for the same reason.

Welcome one and all to the wagon circle. If your looking for friendship, support, and laughter - its a good place to come. Everyone is always welcomed with open arms.

I'm a newbie here but I just want it known that were it not for the Circle I don't think I'd be managing very well. I lurked around the Circle for awhile and felt such warmth eminating from within that I was compelled to go there. It's the best thing I've ever done as it is the only place of the O/T threads that really feels safe. Sure I venture out and enjoy the other threads but I go there first thing when I log in and last thing before I log out. It never even occured to me to think of it as a clique or I surely would not have been made to feel so welcome and I certainly wouldn't stay. I've never been part of such a thing and don't care to be now. Go to the Welcome To The Wagon Circle thread and read the first post so eloquently written by No Surrender, who I believe is responsible for starting the Circle, not the moderators. It truly is as she wrote it .. everyone is welcome and made to feel like family. I'm so grateful to have found it as it's helping me through this very difficult time. I'm not sure what "wagon oriented" means exactly but I guess I am if I'm there. I appreciate that I can go there and not have to worry about the arguments and debates that inevitably happen elsewhere on this board. Having breast cancer is tough enough. Being put on the defensive or personally attacked by a sister just isn't right. I'm glad for the Circle and wish others would join in. I've been made to feel at home there and a clique would not do that.

emelee, do enter your kitten, but the picture is all. Black cats are hard to photograph, they just sort of disappear. Orange and tabbies cat seem easiest from what I can tell. I'd tell you all to vote for mine, but the just come up in random pairs. Do a search for one named Mica, not my cat but a really cute picture.

Maybe I need to do that photobucket thing.

    Jaybird -

I really don't get your point.

Have I posted pictures of my cats before? Of course I have. Sorry that I offended you with them.

As for "rules" on these boards, I don't make the rules, and I'm not a big advocate of authority. But I don't see how reserviong one thread for being 100% "civil" and supportive, while deeming all other threads as "fair game" for voicing my strong opinions, as rule-related. It's an individual choice. Just because there are several members who condone such behavior doesn't mean that it's not toxic, divisive, hurtful, and uncomfortable to the hundreds of others who aren't interested in arguing.

I know that I am a much-hated member of these boards, so I have elected to scale back on my participation here. I am also extremely busy (and grateful to be up to it) with my job and family these days, so spending time here isn't as much of an option as it was for the year that I spent in the wound care nightmare.

I am fortunate. I don't NEED these boards anymore. But I developed some life-long friendships here and I want to support future BC survivors if I can.

What is curious to me is that it seems like I can't post a damn thing on these boards anymore without stirring up a virtual riot.

    It's ridiculous.

    peace out

    I don't hate you Donna
And I love your cat picture...and I must be extremely offensive since I've posted about 3000 cat pics in the last 24 hours...oh well..I'll post babies now..but then if someone says they hate babies, we may not look at them the same
Sorry Jaybird, but I don't see how cat pics are offensive...although I'm biased

Donna, you don't/didn't offend me (although we do disagree on many subjects).

My point was: too many here get "offended" over the stupidest things and if we REALLY wanted to be PC then nothing except 'nice' words would ever be posted!

    As always, JMO..........

I wasn't going to get into this conversation. Wow, how things are said and get so screwed up is amazing.

I don't think Jaybird REALLY meant she hated cats. I think she was making a point.

Donna, you are a dear and no one wants to see you leave. We ALL have very different opinions on different topics. I think it's up to us to keep it "nice." We're grown, mature adults (well, sometimes LOL). I think if we are offended by a post we need to step back and think about it before we post something we may regret. Or in some cases, just don't repond.

My opinion on abortion is quite different from many on this board, but I think we handled that subject quite well without getting ugly.

If we all agreed on everything this would be a boring site.

    Don't you DARE leave.
    Shirley
