Got my fixins today for a Sunday roast! Can't wait.
-
How was that roast Sheri. My ribs turned out great yesterday.
-
It was really good! It was over 3 lbs and my family of 5 downed the whole thing.

I have a strange question to ask. As that I am new to this board & I don't do alot of messaging, can anyone tell me or where to find what all the letters stand for when you post? I know that ps is plastic surgeon, onco is the cancer doctor but that is about it. Can anyone help? :}
-
I don't think there's a specific place to find the abbreviations. Here's a few that I could think of right now, hopefully others will add to the list to help you out.
BS Breast Surgeon
PS Plastic Surgeon
Onc Oncologist
DX Diagnosis
TX Treatment
NED No Evidence of Disease
DH Dear (Darling) Husband
SO Significant Other
Rads Radiation treatment
There's a lot of abbreviations for chemo treatments, but I didn't have chemo so I don't know those. I'm sure some others will chime in soon.

I thought I'd mention that I tried the roast with beer this time instead of cola, mainly because I didn't have a can of coke at the time I needed it. It turned out great, tasted great, but had kind of a strange smell. I think I'll stick to the coke.
A couple of more abbreviations:
ds-dear son
dd-dear daughter
mil-mother-in-law
fil-father-in-law
I don't always get some of the laughing ones, though, like ROFL is I think rolling on the floor laughing
There are a bunch more, though. -
ROTFLMAO - rolling on the floor laughing my a** off
IMHO - In my humble opinion or JMHO - just my humble opinion
I have nothing to say about roasts, unfortunately - I can't cook. I do have a question - is anyone else as addicted to video games as I am? I come home from work and plop myself in front of my computer and play Alchemy, Spider Solitare and Mahjongg while DH cooks dinner (yes, I am that spoiled, but I do deliver a cup of coffee to him every morning). Forget the weekends - I spend hours playing games. Anyway, I am just wondering if anyone else was as bad as I am. -
I was terribly hooked to Tiger Woods Golf on playstation2 for a couple of years. I still play with dh once in awhile, but I used to be on all the time! It was mainly during my tx and post tx days.
I like playing various solitaire games on the computer, too. I bought the Gamehouse Solitaire sets. They have some fun ones. Never could figure out Mahjongg for some reason. -
I find the mahjongg really challenging. I think I have the simplified version - you just match tiles. The challege is beating your own times. I think I spend most of my time on Alchemy, though. Maybe I need to get a life.

Sometimes games like that keep our brains moving even when our bodies don't feel like it. I wouldn't feel bad about it. There's a lot of things I do that don't really contribute to the good of society.

Well, Im just wondering why weeds grow so much easier than flowers. And why are they so hard to pull out.
Yep, you guessed it, thats what I have been doing all day. Pulling out weeds and dandelions.
Nicki
FUNNY NICKI, LISTEN TO THE WORDS I WROTE MANY YEARS AGO, TO GO ON MY TOMBSTONE :
DON'T PLANT FLOWERS ON MY GRAVE,
JUST LET THE GRASS AND DANDELIONS
GROW IN ABUNDANCE
LET THE RAIN FALL AND THE SUNSHINE WARM ME
THESE ARE THINGS THAT GIVE ME PEACE
NATURES BLANKET, IS ALL I NEED.
I GAVE UP THE WEED THING, WHY FIGHT IT, I LIKE TO PLANT, BUT DONT LIKE TO PULL! -
JUST SITTING HERE, THREE DAYS OFF WORK, EATING STRAWBERRIES AND CHOCOLATE, FANS A HUMMING, 115 OUTSIDE, TWO SHOWERS ALREADY. CAT CURLED UP BY ME, FEELING PEACEFUL AND JUST HANGING OUT..SHOULDN'T I BE EXERCISING OR SOMETHING? NOTTTTT!
-
Strawberries and chocolate sound wonderful.
-
biondi: Although Im dieting, I always say, when on vacation - just enjoy yourself. The strawberries and chocolate sound great.
As much as I whine about pulling weeds, I think it is a stress reliever for me. Which reminds me - Im gonna have to go out and pull more today.
Nicki -

My MIL has been visiting this week and was playing sudoku, so I thought I'd try it and now I'm hooked! I even got dh hooked. I would see it everywhere, but hadn't tried it until now. It is fun.
I just have to say, it is cool to see a thread I started still hanging in there. I know it's been different, but I've enjoyed reading everyone's responses. -
I love sudoku too. I started a couple of years ago on an Alaskan cruise..last thing I do at night...oh, and I had to buy a erasable pen to use!!
-
I LOVE MY INOVA PRESSURE COOKER.EVERYTHING DONE IN HALF THE TIME. AND SO TENDER!
I USED TO IRON MY HAIR, WANTED IT TO LOOK LIKE *MARY* OF PETER AND PAUL.
I TAKE MY JEANS TO THE DRY CLEANERS, NO CREASE, $1.50. AND THEY KEEP THEIR SHAPE,AND DON'T FADE.MY UGLY AT HOME ONE'S, I WASH.
WHEN I WAS ON THE ROAD, I COOKED MY EGGS USING AN IMERSION HEATER.
LINED A BOX WITH TIN FOIL, AND SHOVED IT AGAINST THE AIR CONDITIONER.. IN OUR HOTEL ROOM. THAT WAS OUR FRIG. -
Glad to see this thread is still kicking.
I don't play video games. They make my eyes go batty. I have no eye/hand cordination.(can't spell either).
I am not smart enough for sudoku or crossword puzzles. I am clueless to those clues.
We just wack our weeds in our yard.
I signed up for a 5 day cruise to Cabo in November. -
The cruise sounds wonderful! Could you wack some weeds in my yard? I keep saying I'm going out to pull some as soon as it rains so the ground will be softer, but guess what? We haven't had much rain! Oh, well, I'm not too disappointed.
-
BMD - I am a fairly smart person (if I do say so myself!) but have NEVER been able to do crosswords. The clues are just beyond me.
-
Hopefully you got some of the rain that just went through Indiana the past couple days. I didn't get but about 1/2", but at least I got some. where in Kentucky are you?
-
We are dead center, actually the geographical center of the state. We are just a few miles south of Lexington, Kentucky, and east of Louisville. The rain keeps going around us somehow. We are supposed to get some tonight, let's keep our fingers crossed.

I worked crossword puzzles for years just loved them. After tx I find it difficult to work even the easy ones. I just can't think and I've always been a good speller and I have trouble now with that too.
I kept a journal since I was 10 yrs old. I could write for pages in a spiral notebook about events but mostly feelings. Great therapy. Almost 40 yrs of writing, notebooks stacked everywhere in my house and I'd gotten rid of hundreds of them over the years. I now draw a blank when starting to write. On here when I post I have trouble putting my thoughts into words and I've been a word person all my life. I miss it. But I'm alive so I cannot complain. I'm here to enjoy the people I love and that love me. So who cares if I can't work the hard crosswords anymore. Little things take a back seat nowadays.
Cheri -
Yeah--we got some rain!!!! I'm so happy.
Cheri, you're right, little things aren't important. You do a great job of putting your thoughts into words. -
THE RAIN, THE MOON, THE STARS, THE TREES BLOWING IN A GENTLE WIND, I SEE THEM MORE CLEARLY NOW AND APPRECIATE THEM MORE THAN EVER.. THAT'S WHAT B/C GAVE ME. NEW FOUND FEELINGS FOR NATURE'S GIFTS.. JUST MY RANDOM THOUGHT TODAY AS I WATCHED THE SUN COME UP EARLY THIS MORNING.
-
What a beautiful random thought biondi. Rain? Whats that? I can't even remember the last time it rained on my house here in S. CA. They say it might rain in the mountains to the east today. If we see any in Vista I think I will go dance in it.
