Most of the time I barely have time to read the forums and threads that I like to follow, but there was a time a few months ago when we had the "Debate" forum, which is probably gone for good reason, when there was a thread called "hijack this thread". I think Jasmine (Always Hope) started it. It was fun to read because it had some interesting random thoughts. So, I guess I was thinking it might be fun to do something like that again.

Just write whatever you feel, within the rules of conduct of course. Nothing serious, just "stuff". If no one feels like writing, that's ok, just let the thread "die". We have so many EXCELLENT forums here for support and help, this could just someplace to write your thoughts.

The other thing, if this thread takes a totally different turn from what I said, then that's ok, too.

Let's see if anyone takes the bait.

I guess that's the way it goes. If you can grab them, go ahead and put them down here! There are times when I'm writing stuff and I think of lots of things, but don't really know where to put them.

Right now my son is trying to kick me off. Thanks for trying!

Sheri, that was one of my favorite threads! But then, I'm a debater! This might do better either on the 'humor' thread or ??? It's SO hard now because SO much can get us into 'trouble' here..... But I'm game!

    Debate Forum I did read
Kept my brain cells up to speed

Got my blood flowing, as in debate we can disagree
But what the heck our posts are free

Hijack this thread, I remember that well
Had a Barbie doll party that was really swell

Laughing is fun and healthy too
Sending a hug to all of you.

Hey girls, you're right, humor might be a better place, I just don't usually read that forum! Nicki, I love your rhyme! "Hijack" was kind of the "anti-debate" as I remember, but that was a long time ago and chemo brain is pretty foggy.

I wish I could rhyme as well as you
but I wish a big hug for everyone too!

No discord do I want to spread
Just another place to read a thread

There's probably other threads like this to see
I just don't happen to read all, poor me

Just wanted to reach out a friendly hand
    Hope you all will understand

Must get ready for school today
Hope to come out later to play

A wonderful day is what I hope you see
    Have another hug from me!

I need more coffee if I'm going to rhyme

Here is a funny for you...a bumper-sticker reads:

Drink Coffee. Do stupid things faster with more energy.

You know I liked the debate forum also, was a safe place to agree to disagree. Shame we don't have it anymore. I never read the hijack thread, so I guess I will read and figure out what you mean by random thoughts.

Here's a random thought - Why does a steam iron have a permanent press setting?

No rhyming is necessary, but can be good for the brain. I was never very good at it either.

Anne, I never really could figure that one out either, isn't there a list of those things that don't really make sense? I remember one being why is there braille on the drive through at the bank?

I had something I wanted to say here today and now that I have the chance I totally forgot!

I have a question--if you were at a place, say a kids soccer game, and you overheard a bunch of people bad mouthing your coworkers, what would you do? Would you speak up and defend them, pretend like you didn't hear, or join in and then just tell your coworkers later?

Depends on how I felt about my co-workers but I would not join in.

As for the iron if the clothes are permanent press why do they need to be ironed? I hate ironing. I can never get the wrinkles out of cotton. I bought a new iron. That did not work. I bought a new cover for my board. That did not work. I just don't get it.

I wouldn't join in, either, regardless of how I felt about the coworker. If I didn't like the coworker, I wouldn't want them to know I knew them. If I did like the coworker, I wouldn't want to hurt them by telling them about it. I wouldn't join in to defend the coworker because if people decide to trash someome at a public event, they wouldn't be very accepting of someone with a different viewpoint. Yeah, I'm a chicken.

BMD - spray a little starch on them and be sure you're iron is HOT.

You know you don't lose your sense of humor when you have cancer and I think others are surprised a bit at that. I remember a coworker offering to take me out to lunch and promising me chicken breast for my last day of work. And my surgeon prescribed "ice wine prn" on my hospital chart when my husband told him how much we liked it. Nurses had a time figuring out what he meant. We knew of course it was a joke. I would love to hear some humorous moments you all can share. Suse

Ok! I must confess. I do not own and iron or an ironing board. I think somewhere in my garage is the iron I got with S & H greenstamps. That should tell you how old it is. Im thinking maybe 32 years!!

And to change the subject, how about cooking? Im a terrible cook. Whacking? Im good at whacking! Of course Im talking about weeds here.

Now no one has to rhyme
For some it takes up too much time

A little thought I will throw your way
Hoping you have a cheerful day

    Junie,

I love that you convinced your husband that his body heat/sweat will take care of the wrinkles. I'm spoiled, my DH does his own ironing.

Nicki - I am also a terrible cook. I convinced my DH that the kitchen was a dangerous place for Irish women. He does all the cooking. He had an Irish mother and I am mostly Irish - he learned to cook out of self-defense.

Oh, I love to iron! I try to buy wash-n-wear clothing but sometimes just hanging in the closet they get wrinkles and they have to be ironed. I feel so much 'neater' in freshly ironed clothes.

Does anyone else iron their jeans? My friends tell me that there is something wrong with me because I do.

I've heard of people who iron their jeans. Do you put a crease in them? My dh does all his own ironing, too. He's supposed to look "professional" at work with a nicely ironed shirt and tie. Then he proceeds to help the cooks out in the kitchen and gets his "professional" clothes all dirty and greasy!

I like that about Irish women not being allowed to cook. does the same hold true for Irish men? If so, my dh and I are in trouble!

Yes, I put a crease in them. No, I don't think it holds true for Irish men, otherwise, we would never eat. People have always made jokes about how bad Irish food is. My DH was pre-trained when I met him, he had been cooking at home for a while because his mom was not a very good cook (to put it mildly). She was also pretty impatient - once when she made them swordfish, the swordfish she had bought had a picture of the swordfish on the cardboard container it was in. Yeah, she didn't take it out of the container and broiled it in the cardboard. I think that is when my DH took over on cooking. My DH's best friend is also the product of an Irish household - he's a great cook. I love it when we get together and they swap recipes while his wife and I talk about work.

Anne: Now thats so funny. Im Italian so you would think I am a good cook. But IM NOT! My husband is mostly Irish and he does all the cooking around here.

My solution to ironing? Send everything to the cleaners!!

Back to ironing, my dh should own stock in spray starch. He uses a ton. If his shirts don't come out of the dryer right away and he can't get the wrinkles out, he puts them back in the laundry basket!

When I was little I loved to iron, then I got married and my husband was in the military. We couldn't afford to send his uniforms to the cleaners and I ended up doing it. Now I hate ironing, I still have my mothers old metal ironing board although I could not tell you where it is.
