Hey Northern California sisters ... we had so much fun when we met for lunch in Old Sacramento last summer ... many of us want to meet again - and of course anyone in the area is welcome to join us...
Let's decide the date and then we can decide where and what to do. I'll do as much of the organizing as I can - and hope we'll make decisions based on what works for the majority just like we did last summer.
So ... lets first decide on the date of our get-together
I'll send an email to everyone who joined us last summer and ask them to vote - if you know of any other northern california ladies please point them to this thread.
I'm really looking forward to meeting up again!!!

Thanks Doreen, I'll see what I can do about attending. I will be in Sacramento the frst weekend in September for my stepdaughter's wedding.
Thanks again.
Margaret -
My thanks too Doreen, for getting us started on another great get-together.
I'll be happy to help any way I can.
grace -
Thanks Doreen! The last weekend in August is not good for me--school starts. Everything else is probably ok at this point.
Take care,
--Hattie -
thanks for updating me and I hope to meet you in august! Cheers, Kathleen
-
I voted for Aug 11th. I would love to see everyone again. I might bring Casey, but there goes any chance for a conversation for me. Sigh...
Oh yeah, I am having my bi-lat Free TRAM surgery June 6th, so I can bring my new girls!
Mandy -
Mandy: Feel free to bring Casey ... we'll pass her around again and give you some "free" time for conversation ... Good luck with your surgery - I hope it is a successful surgery w/ no complications!!! I'll be thinking about you ... where will you post or have someone post after your surgery so we can all relax and know you're doing well ???
August 11th is looking like the date since that has the most votes.
Doreen -
I would love to come to the gathering again, but will be out of the state on vacation on 8/11. Any other Sunday works for me.
Alicia -
I cannot attend the first weekend of August for I work at a music festival every year during August 2nd - 6th.
I only live 2 hours from Sac and can make it the rest of the month, just not the first weekend.
Can't wait to meet you all!!! -
Doreen,
Thanks for the well wishes. I should be in the hospital for about 5 days. Kaiser Santa Clara. I will post when I get home and let everyone know how it went. I'm starting to get a bit nervous, but I can do it!
Love to you guys,
Mandy
Oh yeah, and Casey would love to be passed around. Ms. Social Butterfly. Oh the teen years... -
hello doreen and everyone else. so whats the scoop on the get together? has a meeting site been selected?
i hope everyone is doing well. it will be two years for me next month. :-)

Okay, let's get this ball rolling! I vote for a get together in the Bay Area. Would that work for people? Yes, it's b/c I live out here. But I thought I'd put my 2 cents in.
Let's start putting it out there. Did August 11th end up being the best day for most people? -
bay area is fine with me as long as i have directions. august will be here before we know it so i would appreciate knowing a definate date asap so that i can plan. it's summer time and i'm hoping to be busy every weekend posssible! hope to get some feed back soon.
gayle----tracy ca -
Obviously, I vote for the Bay Area too.
Margaret -
Hey: From the votes it appears that August 11th is the date that works for most of us. I hope everyone who posted voted for the dates that worked. Sorry I haven't kept up with this - I've been really super busy with work ... changed jobs and I've been totally overwhelmed with my new job.
So... based on votes - August 11th is the date. So... lets decide where ... if our location is the Bay area - can we do something at the north end of the bay area ?? Some of the people wanting to come are from the very north part of california - so its' quite a distance for them.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a place to meet ??
Doreen -
Okay. Let me do some looking and see if I can come up with something. North part of the Bay Area. Are we talking like Marin county? Maybe San Rafael or something? Let me know.
I can try and be the coordinator. I am not back at work yet, so I have some time on my hands.
Doreen, can you please email the list of emails that you used to get the ball rolling w/ this get together?
My address is in my bio.
Margaret, we will have to carpool this year!
Mandy -
Mandy: I hope you're recovering well from your surgery!!
I'm emailing you the list now ... and thanks for volunteering to be the coordinator. I know we'll have people coming from all over northern ca again ... humboldt, tracy, chico, sacramento and several of you from the bay area - so I was trying to think of somewhere kinda central... if we did something in the marin area - maybe we could do something like a picnic - or somewhere near the beach ???
just putting some ideas out there ...
I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone again!!
Doreen -
Just a thought...We could meet in Sausalito and take the ferry over to Jack London Square in Oakland for a yummy meal. It's a beautiful ferry ride and it would give us some more time to talk and move around.
I am open to suggestions. Otherwise, I will set something up and whoever is into it can come and enjoy!
And yes, I am healing from my free TRAM surgery from a month ago. I had some complication, not on the TRAM, which put me in the ICU, but life is grand I am have some fun new boobies!
Let's keep the dialogue going here so we can make this happen...
Mandy -
Count me in! Looking forward to it no matter where it's held.
Mimi -
Mandy, we'll carpool. I'll drop Gwenn and Alicia Maris a note too to see if they want to join everyone.
Margaret -
i plan on coming. i think i'm closer to oakland aren't i? so i'll probably skip the ferry ride and meet you all where ever it is we're suppose to meet. this will be fun and i'm looking forward to it :-) hi mimi! two years for me this month, going for mammo on the 11th.

Hmmm...Looks like the Ferry doesn't run from Tiburon to Oakland anymore. So I will come up w/ something else. Let's try and keep it near the water. Maybe an early lunch or late lunch. That way it won't be so crowded on a Saturday.
Keep chiming in w/ thoughts girls!
Mandy -
thats' too bad ... the ferry sounded fun! I'm sure we'll come up with some wonderful ideas ...
Doreen -
The ferries all leave from downtown San Francisco, at the Ferry Building, and then go out to Sausalito or Tiburon. We could still do that. There are restaurants in all 3 locations. I just don't know how much time and effort people want to put into an outing. I myself am always up for an adventure. But I'm a little nutty...
-
there's a couple of ways to approach this. Just put a suggested location out there ... and then we'll see who can come
or ... put several ideas out there and have people vote ... highest number of votes is the one we'd go with. Since we're talking a month out - we need to start narrowing it down. I'm pretty open and adventurous ...
whatever we do - we want to make sure we have lots of time to socialize ... and a place to facilitate that ... e.g. don't want to feel rushed out ...
from last years experience we probably also don't want to be locked into something like a buffet where we have to commit to a specific number of people coming, order in advance and commit to paying for a specific number of people. For these types of events it is really hard to know exactly how many are attending until you see how many actually show up.
Doreen -
Tell me where and when and I'll try to be there. I think Alicia is unavailable that date but I hope I'm wrong.
Take care,
--Hattie -
You know I'm thinking that a picnic type spot might be the best thing to do. I felt like last year I couldn't move around and really talk to everyone. I had a great time getting to know the ladies around me, but wanted to chat with some of the others also.
Let me keep thinking for the next few days... -
I love the idea of a picnic ... we could either do a potluck ... or everyone bring their own .. there are some picnic spots with wonderful views of the city - I'm thinking possibly Muir woods - or even possibly the rest stop(I think it's on hwy 80) that has a fabulous view of SF ... it's kinda noisy - but lots of picnic tables and sure to be no problems with space. Just a couple of ideas that came to mind when I started thinking of a picnic in the bay area.
Doreen -
picnic/potluck sounds like a great idea! i'm coming from tracy and have no idea where your girls are talking about gathering so as long as i have good directions i will find you all. :-)

Hey guys,
So far there has only been 7 or so of us that have shown interest in an Aug.11th get together. I even emailed people from Doreen's email list. Only Trish replied to me.
So I'm thinking that maybe we should try for another time. Maybe the summer is too busy for people...
Thoughts? -
well my question is will there ever be a good time that will suit all? those of us that are able to come now may not be able to come later and there may still be only 7.
:-) but whatever works for the majority i'm open too.
