Northern California get-together in August

If everyone wants to do the Bay Area and we don't come up with a location, we can use my house as long as you don't mind looking at the remodeling mess on my dining room table - we're remodeling the last room and all the tools hubby is using are spread throughout the dining room. I'm just off the San Mateo Bridge and very close to Hwy. 101.
Margaret -
If I remember correctly, the planning for our get-together was slow at the start last year too.... once we had a date and a location interest picked up (probably because we were able to contact people either via PM or in other threads to let them know ... I know Hattie was pretty active in recruiting people.).
I think we should just go ahead and keep filling in the details ...
I've heard from a couple of the more northern california ladies ... who'd prefer a more northern location .. e.g. somewhere between the bay area and Sacramento - somewhere easy to travel to for most people .. last year we had people from up in the Redwoods all the way to Santa Cruz.
Northern California is BIG.
Doreen -
Doreen and NorCal ladies,
I am just not up to planning anything outside of the Bay Area. I am just wrapping up a week of a 2 yr old expelling fluids from all ends (aka the flu) and a hubby who caught it too. I don;t have the energy to do a bunch of research for spots I am not familiar with.
Sorry I am backing out of planning. I am just not prepared to do it all right now.
Sorry,
Mandy -
Hang in there, Mandy. Take care of yourself, too. I'll look for picnic spots.
Take care,
--Hattie

Hi,
Sorry I didn't reply to the email--but I guess either I didn't get it, or hubby deleted it for some reason.
I'm up for Aug. 11th. Sorry you had to back out of planning, Mandy, but totally understandable. Hope you don't get the flu after taking care of your family! Moms work sooooo hard sometimes!!
Hattie,
What about meeting in Golden Gate park?? I know there have to be picnic areas there. We could just brown bag it and keep it simple.
Just my 2cents worth.
grace -
I couldn't make it last year but would really enjoy meeting bc sisters this year! I live in the Bay Area. I can't do the 4th of August. Please let me know what time works for the group. I'm a 2 year stage 3c survivor, so far.
thanks,
Kim -
August 11, Golden Gate Park? Sounds easiest, and done?
Everyone welcome.
Take care,
--Hattie -
I'm so sad that I'm not going to make it this year - have a great time!!!
Alicia -
Kim, where in the Bay Area do you live?
Mandy, if you're checking, I'll email you.
Alicia, we need to get together again.
Margaret -
I can't make it either, after all. Have to head north with kidlets instead. I'll be with you in spirit!
take care,
--Hattie -
Hi Margaret:
I live in Concord. Sounds like the get together is 8/11 at GGP?
Back to you all!
- Kim -
Hi everyone,
Count me in. Where in Golden Gate Park do we meet and what time? I'll be driving from Sacramento.
Darlene -
Turns out I'll have to pass, too. Another obligation has come up and I'll miss you this year. For those who are attending, ENJOY!
Trish -
I will miss seeing last year's faces and new ones this year.
I hope this get together is happening still. It was so cool to meet up.
Please take and post photos!
Take care,
--Hattie -
Doesn't sound like this is going to happen. I will call Mandy and see if she feels up to it. I am still happy to host it at my house, 20 miles south of San Francisco.
Darlene, if it doesn't happen, I will be in Sacramento next month - September 7-9 - maybe we could meet?
Margaret -
hi ladies, I'm a 3 year survivor from the DC area but I will be in Palo Alto for 3 weeks in August. If you all are still meeting maybe I could join you as a guest visitor?
-
Absolutely Sharon. When are you going to be in Palo Alto? If the meeting doesn't happen, maybe we can still get together.
Margaret -
I won't be able to make it either. The rest of you - have a great time!
Mimi (Sacramento) -
I'ld like to go. I can make it. Just let me know when and where when the location is decided and what I might be able to bring.
Thanks!
- Kim -
Hey Margaret, I'll actually be in Palo Alto Aug. 12th leaving morning of the 21st. Plans changed a bit and I'll be in SoCal before that.
-
To StrayCat & Margaret B.,
Lunch in Sacramento sounds good. The weekend of the 8-9 will be busy because there will be a 4th b-day party for my granddaughter and a 2nd b-day party for my grandson. But no times have been set.
I work downtown and live by Sac State Univ.
Sharon Correa: I will be in Palo Alto on the 13th. I'm in a Lymphedma study at Stanford. Maybe we could get together for lunch.
I hope we can work something out ladies.
Darlene -
Darlene and Sharon - we can make it happen when you are both here. You both have to pass by my house either to go home or go to the airport.
I am home from the 12th until the 17th so we can get together - maybe one night after I get off work? Darlene, not sure how long you will be here. If it doesn't work out for you, I will be in Sacramento September 7 and 8, leaving the 9th. My daughter is getting married at Arden Hills Country Club and we're staying at the Larkspur Landing. Are you anywhere close to that location? I will PM you both with my home email address. Let's do this.
Margaret -
HI Margaret,
I'd love to join all of you if you meet in the bay area in August. I go to Cupertino every Tues & Thurs for water exercise w/my mom. I grew up in Redwood City, so am familiar w/ area south of SF. Let me know if you can include one more in your get together plans. Thanks.
Darlene, I have LE also. I'm interested in the LE study at Stanford. Is there info on a web site somewhere? Did it just start, or has it been in place for some time? Thanks in advance for any info you can share.
grace -
Grace, if it doesn't happen, let's meet sometime anyway since you are up here on Tuesday and Thursdays. I live in San Mateo. Are you up here during the day? I work but could always meet you for lunch.
Let's keep in touch.
Margaret -
Ok ladies, just got an email from Mandy and it doesn't look like GG Park will happen. Just wanted to let you know though that if you are in the Bay Area, Mandy and I live a few blocks from each other and can probably manage our schedules to meet with you.
Margaret -
Greetings, ladies. I was just checking in because I realized this was "the weekend" and I've been so disappointed that I couldn't participate. Seems to me Northern California is awfully big and perhaps we need to regionalize our group into smaller sections. Bay Area, Sacramento, Central Valley? Surely there are a huge number of women who could benefit from get togethers in a more regional fashion. We are probably trying way too hard to make this big group gathering work. As much as I would love to see everyone I met last August (do you all know how much you inspired me to get through chemo??) I think it would be great for us to keep up the spirit of that gathering by hosting smaller groups closer to where we live. Sacramento Valley Ladies, shall we try to do this?
Hugs to all,
Trish -

It is difficult to get everyone from different areas together but it could still work. I know last year that Mandy, who lives close to me in the Bay Area, was able to make it to the Sacramento get together. I was in Sacramento yesterday.
Margaret -
I'd love to see everyone again. I live near Ripon now, if anyone would like to get together. July and August are busy for me, but things should calm down in September.
