can we ditch the star rating???

    If we had to do away with the name system regarding how many posts we've written (pooh bah, old hand, veteran, etc) then we should do away with the star system.

    I wish they'd get rid of the star ratings. Last night I checked the "Lesbians with cancer" board and noticed that 10 of the 12 gay-related topics had been rated with either one or two stars. I know that people use the rating system for personal grudges, but since the topics had been started by different people, I have a hard time not concluding that there isn't something more going on here. (By the way, I went and rated every topic as a 5 which changed the ratings. It hurt too much to see it).

    Thats exactly the problem. Someone did the same thing to the Wagon Circle Thread. Its really sending out the wrong messages. My vote remains. Get rid of them.

    I never use them and don't pay attention to them. I don't believe that we should "rate" a post. That can lead to a popularity type thing.

    I feel like i have stumbled into a parallel universe - what stars are these????? I really must take more notice!!
    Anyway , if people are getting upset , the stars (wherever they are) are obviously being misused. How sad
