i love you ladies. you have listened to all my baby drama and emotions, so it means a lot that you support me so much. sorry i made you cry, debbie!! in the back of my mind, i know i have to stay cancer-free and that is my first focus, but for the first time in almost 2 years, i feel like a normal woman. and i wanted that feeling so much.

maryanne....i love the idea of my gestational period so funny! and i very well may be part elephant. at least my thighs are! ha ha!!!

tracy....i'm sure dave will bond too. my husband is a little wary about the dog and sometimes says the same thing....it's my decision, so i'm taking care of it. but then he gets excited about it and i know so well that as soon as this puppy comes here, we'll be fighting over who gets to walk her

rosemarie....your trip sounds so fun. i need another vacation. i love love love disneyworld. my husband and i went for spring break when we were dating in college. enjoy the begining of your summer vacation

maryanne...the site for the cool sleeves is called lymphadiva. i think i may order one too because my beige one that i wear to the gym is getting a bit stinky. i've heard the ones on that site are really, really comfortable!

victoria...let me know how your doctor visits go. i definitely want your painting...it is gorgeous and meaningful.

ok, off to work i go. love you all. have a good friday!

Amy..that is absolutely wonderful news!!! It works out perfectly. What could be better than to be honeymooners for a few more years??? Have fun knowing you've got your work cut out for you afterwards! I'm so happy for you.

Michele..great news! May we keep hearing news like this.

Love the fire pits for cooking. Those are neat. I think I want one to go with the pool I want and the fish pond!

V..I'll be honored to have your print up on my wall. My house is mainly my dad's work and one of a friend of my dad's. I can't wait to put yours up.

Cindy..that was unfair to get sick. Totally uncalled for! I'm glad you are better. By the way...a new study came out that weekly Taxol is the best for triple negs!!! YES!

Tracy... tough decision about the dog but now that Dave is open to it...go for it!
We can be there while you get your tattoo and Mary Anne will have her hands full cuz I'll probably faint.
RoseMarie..enjoy the summer vacation. I know that feeling well!!!

Brenda.. join our room. I'll sleep on the cot. Let's order a cot.

I gotta go. Must begin cooking. I have cousins here...2 graduating high school seniors from New Jersey. Short visit. They go home tomorrow.

Have a good weekend everybody. I am sure I missed people...am tired today...

    Gals:
I tried to write you yesterday but lost the post I had composed and then had to get off the computer.

Quickly, I'm thrilled with all the good news (Amy & Michelle & RoseMarie & Ravedeb) and love the painting (Victoria) and all the photos. Happy no one was injured in the car fire. Glad the doggie is coming home after time at "school." Cindy and Cathy always thinking of you.

About me: I'm feeling better with Prozac on board. I'm also going to see a counselor for a while. BUT, this morning, one the way to work, with my husband driving we were in a accident. Someone turned left in front of us while we were going through an intersection and we smashed into his passenger side with our van. Results: crumpled cars, no injuries. I am somewhat stiff and have a headache now about 7 hours later. We have had a string of bad decisions and bad luck in the last 6 weeks and I have to say this morning is just too hard for me. If feel like every time I turn around something bad is happening. So, now we face more expenses for repairs, etc. Yes, there is insurance, but it doesn't always cover everything. It's my husband's van so he will take care of whatever needs to be done.

Gosh, I need a good rest this weekend!

I like the idea of a cookbook! I'm always looking for new recipes to try. I will check out the site, V.
Mary - so good to hear from you. I'm sorry about your "string of bad luck." Here's a cyber hug (()) wish I could give you a real one!
Laura - I sooo want your backyard!!
Debbie - wow, you guys get out late but you start back later so I guess it all works out.
Ok...everyone is busy either playing video games, watching tv or playing outside.
Hmmm...I think I'll take my glass of wine out onto the deck with my new "Real Simple" magazine...

    love you all,

Well, tomorrow is the Relay!! The weather prediction is not good - looks like I could be walking in the cold rain and wind - but hey! I'm a SURVIVOR! I can do it!

I have decided not to stay the entire night. I will come home at 11pm after the Luminaria ceremony. I just can't loose a whole night's sleep it really messes me up for a long time. I will go back early in the morning for closing ceremonies.

Dave is so busy with his Hamburger cooking project. He is supporting me and our team by grilling Hamburgers throughout the Relay and giving them away for doations. All of the supplies were donated by our Kiwanis club. They are AWESOME and have been so supportive of me!

I had a realy good interview today with NORDSTROMS!!! It is for a Project Manager of Quality Assurance. Seems strange that a department store would develop their own software, doesn't it? I have another phone interview on Monday - if that one goes well, they will have me come in for an interview!

Well, I have to make some donation signs for Dave's donation bucket, so gotta run....

I love you sisters AND I AM WALKING FOR ALL OF US, OUR SURVIVORSHIP AND OUR SISTERHOOD!!

    (((hugs)))

TracyNY, you may go back to work looking all neat and trendy but we know you are the real Wild Thing! You need a "Miss America" banner across yourself that says "Original Wild Thing"!!! I am so glad that you are having wonderful travel times and chillin' like a villain!

TracyNY..you are gorgeous and the background in the pictures just set the mood...Glad you are back. Looks like you had a terrific time.

TracyS...good luck with the walk! That's is great that Dave is on Hamburger duty. What a great way to donate money and how kind and supportive he is of you. You are a lucky woman (with or without that tattoo!). If you work for Nordstroms can I rub elbows with you? I love that store and go into the one on Michigan Ave in Chicago where Oprah shops. I look for Oprah and for sales. I always think of Oprah when I hear Nordstroms because she buys her shoes there, she said.

V...I'd add to the recipe idea, too. I browse the internet all the time to get new recipes to try out on my guests!

    RoseMarie..are you celebrating summer vacation?

    Good Morning….

The first thing I have to say is Amy your post about becoming pregnant in 4 years made made me cry and made my day when I read it! This goes to show that we can lead normal lives and go on to realize our dreams after being a bc survivor, its does happen YES!! You and your husband are going to make such wonderful parents.

Over the past week I really feel a sense of my new self starting to emerge. It is nice and I like that new person, not that I was a bad person before! I am a lot more relaxed about the future and happier with a renewed sense of peace. It is kind of hard to put into words…..

We had a wicked rain storm yesterday with some high winds. It didn’t last long 20 minutes tops but did do some damage to trees. When I finally got home after ¾ of the traffic lights being out ---looked out the back deck and our heavy metal patio table was completely turned over with the glass top smashed and glass everywhere….The umbrella is ruined as well. It took us 2 ½ hours to clean up and my garden on the one side had to be completely dug out to get the glass out. It was safety glass but still can cut and extremely dangerous to our pups.

My sister is home on a pass from the hospital for the weekend. We will spend some time together tomorrow.

Scooby continues to do really well with her training, she has now been introduced to 4 dogs at a time and the trainer has a litter of 5 - 5 week old pups that she will let her interact with early next week. She spent some time with a whipit (not sure about spelling), they are a smaller version of a greyhound. The trainer was really impressed, she really seemed to like her. She has also learned not to chase the chickens that the trainer has, that's funny...

Cindy - hope you are doing okay these past few days.

Amy – enjoy your newlywed days!

Maryanne – your cottage looks so cozy and being right on the water is beautiful.
Your FIL looks amazing for 97.

Tracyseattle – I would go ahead and get the dog, it will be your dog and I;m sure that once the dog has been around for awhile he will love it just as much. Animals have a way of doing that to us.

    Go luck on your interview…

You make us proud…..The Relay is a moving event, especially when they light all the candles with the names on them.

Victoria – no Scooby’s bed is gone to the garbage bin at the trailer, long gone. We will buy her a new one and some replacement toys that I also got rid of. Thanks for the gift to all of us. The new painting will go in our new home when we sell ours.LOL.

Thanks for setting up the receipe site. I am not much a cook but maybe the site will inspire me or give ideas for my dh.LOL.

Kelly – Teryn is a wonderful child and is blessed to have such a great mom.
Getting down on the ground and trying to get back up is a real challenge for a lot of us on hormonals especially the AI’s. I find too in the morning that I waddle for a bit as my ankles are stiff.

Debbie444 – you are so funny, love reading your posts. July 21st for last day of school, when does it start again? Here the year is 1st week of September until 3rd week of June.

Rosemarie – your kids school ends early. Here they don’t finish until towards the 3rd week of June. Your trip sounds busy but you do have time planned aside for yourselves which will be wonderful and relaxing.

Deb – you always sound like you are entertaining someone from out of town.

Mary – I am happy that you are feeling better and that a counselor is helping you out. The antidepressants work well for a lot of us and keep things balanced.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear that no one was seriously injured. Did you get checked out due to your headache? Sometimes a mild concusion can cause the headache.

TracyNy- you look like you belong in that first picture. Love the water picture, your hair looks natural and with the heat there is no fixing the curls they misbehave so badly. I still say I want your anti aging secret, you do not look your age girlfriend!

Have a great Saturday my sisters and enjoy the sunshine. It looks like a beautiful day here!

    Love Michele

Mary, take care of that headache. Just because you feel fine right after an accident does not mean you did not suffer injuries from it. It could manifest itself later.

TracyNY: You look best in your natural do, in my opinion.

TracySeattle: Thanks for walking for all of us. And, if you get the job, I would not mind getting a discount card! (Just kidding...)

Brenda..that is great! I love it!!!!

Okay V..I'll check that site out. Thanks for setting it up. How fun!

Michele..you are right. I have a lot of guests. We used to have a lot more and thought to open a Bed and Breakfast. Glad we didn't think too much! We will be going to visit another young cousin who will be on a trip in Israel as well...I think in another week. Then more cousins will be arriving for a long weekend in July. And my brother in law will be here in a couple of weeks too, but won't be staying with us. And then I leave and will return the favor by staying over at my cousin's while I'm in the States!

Just checking in to say hello. My dd is in the Desert with her Papa, looking forward to seeing her tonight when I get home from work. She has been running him ragged out there. She's been going swimming, to the movies, to the park, out to dinner and forcing him on long walks to go see the ducks! He said he's too tired to get up and answer the phone so she brings that to him. All of his friends are laughing at him, telling him how good this is for him. Oh, and his wife is laughing, too. She can't get him to make the bed and Teryn likes the bed made before she leaves the house so she would do it alone (he's caught her making his bed) but my Dad helps her!!

Hope everyone has a good Sunday while I go slave away!

TracyS, was your walk last night????

Sunday afternoon. I’ve made the two block trek to Starbucks in order to post. For some reason when I log onto bco from my daughter’s computer it says I’m logged in but won’t let me post.

Thanks so much for all the well wishes. I followed the usual pattern of feeling great the day after surgery and overextended myself so then spent the next three days going from feeling pain, taking pain pill and zonking out.. Yesterday was down to only two and today have had none and actually feel pretty darn good. DD and family went to the catskills where they’re building a house and I chose to stay in the apartment. Had all kinds of good intentions but just getting out is making me feel a whole lot better.

I’ve been reading posts but will probably forget what I’ve read but here goes.

Michele–glad to hear the good news about your “lump” and also that Scooby is getting trained and will return to her family. Really happy for you.

RoseMarie–as big a pain as it is happy also to hear that you’re only faced with lymphedema. Have a great time on your vacation.

Amy–best news ever about baby! In the mean time you have your new puppy to fill in the time. I really hope to get to meet you but if you can’t make it to Chicago I understand and you know I’m visiting everyone eventually. (Or so says Debbie)

Debbie–I was really shocked by the pictures of Roger’s van but thankfully he wasn’t hurt. Have you guys ever heard of Joe Btfsplk? I’m probably the only one old enough to remember this Li’l Abner character. Check him out. He’s either passed his bad luck on to you folks or lives on near you! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Btfsplk

dEB–You are really a sweet person. You never give up on any of us. The kittens are just too cute. I think I’m almost ready for a new kitten. My poor outside cat is really old and I’m amazed he lasts thorough our winters. I would probably let him in the house but he won’t come in. He has a dog-loo for a home and a heated water dish which I have seen him sit in when it’s empty.

Mary–it was good to hear from you. So happy the antidepressants are working. You have had more than your share of unhappy events recently but know that life sometimes bunches up for all of us and it’s your turn for some very good things to come your way. (I’m not sure this applies to Debbie.LOL)

TracyS–Sounds like everything is going well for you. Yea to you, Dave and a dog! Hope the weather for the Relay was good. You are truly my inspiration for all you do for bc. I almost went to the 5K MSK walk/run today, but just wasn’t that motivated yet. Another job interview for you. Something really good is coming your way, I’m sure.

Mary-Anne and Laura-love your fire pits. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it but I have a cottage at a lake in Minnesota. My Texas cousin and his wife live there in June and July and it’s mine to use in August and Sept. We have a firepit there too—just a ring of rocks. I’ll post some pictures when I have the time to figure the picture think out again.

Kelly–sorry you have to work on Sunday but it must be a big day for RV sales. You don’t know how close I’ve come to calling you this past week. Don’t be surprised if I do. Just want to compare notes.

Cindy–I think of you every Friday. I can’t believe how fast the time is going. I hope it’s going quickly for you too. You are an inspiration to all of us.

Gail-know your’re busy. PM me with the name of the bar your son woks at. Maybe I’ll go out on the town (not too likely) while I’m here. Congrats on the new “great niece.”

Paula-glad you’re getting back in the swing of things even if it does mean going back to work.

Brenda–love the rear view elephants-I have an elephant picture and story to post.

TracyNY-yoohoo! Your’re back. If you want to try again to get together either pm me or call. Your picture really rock. Love your hair

Jill-good to hear from you. Keep coming back. I know from experience the longer we stay away the harder it is to post but don’t want to let go of this great group of women.

Linda–hope things are going better for you. I think about you and your sister often.

Victoria–words almost fail me. What a beautiful, strong representations of us Rocktober sisters rising from the ashes. Besides being a beautiful painting in its own right what it reveals of the artist is what is beyond mere words. Count me as another who will be proud to hang it in my home.

I’m driving to Chicago. Plan to get there late Thursday afternoon. Will make my reservation tonight.

Well, my hair started coming out late Friday night, on the very same schedule as last time: Day 14. So I went to my hairdresser and she buzzed it off Saturday. It was really close, like sandpaper, so I could just use our electric razor once I got home and now it's smooth.

Today is pretty hot in Minnesota, and this week is going to be even warmer, so this look is appropriately cool for the weather! I wore a coolmax tube hat, in a bright design of stars on cobalt, to the grocery store today. Trying not to mind people looking at me. Sigh.

    http://www.buyabuff.com/Summer/pages/bluesun.htm

I'm a quarter of the way through now and have a rest week this coming Friday, which happens to be my 49th birthday. (What a nice birthday present!) Today, I'm pretty tired (per usual after my Friday chemo) so I'm glad to have the rest week coming up. I'd asked if other people with minimal side effects ever skipped their rest weeks, just to get done more quickly, but the chemo nurse strongly discouraged that.

Even though I won't be done with chemo before our August meeting, I think I will still feel well enough to come because I don't start getting tired until Sunday, when we would be coming home anyway. At least that's the plan.

    Hi Everyone!

Yesterday was the big day! The Northern Snohomish County Relay for Life!!!! Wouldn't you know it POURED RAIN for the first three hours, so everyone was soaking wet.... but we walked! Then about 3pm it cleared off a bit. I walked about 7 miles and my Legs are SO SORE today and I have blisters on the bottoms of my feet!!!

All-in-All it was a good Relay. I didn't stay the night as I find that loosing a night of sleep really kicks my butt so I came home at about 11:30pm and then went back today for the closing ceremonies.

I was really impressed with the representation from my town! We have members of all three service clubs (Lions, Rotary & Kiwanis - each had a team), our police chief, city councilman, MAYOR and our SENATOR!! All showed up and participated!!! Very Cool!

I walked the Survivor Lab with a friend of mine who has Lung Cancer - her prognosis is not good. I was so proud of her for making it the entire way around the track and she was pretty moved by it.... Her husband (our past mayor) walked with the two of us. She carried the Lake Stevens banner along with our state Senator who is from Lake Stevens...... Very cool, the survivor lap always means so much to me, just to see everyone who is fighting and WINNING. The Surivor T-Shirts this year say: I'M WINNING on the back.

All three Service club teams won awards for fundraising + 2 of our Middle Schools were among the top fundraising teams!!!

Are you read for this???? The total for the Relay so far is $138,910!!!! Last Year their total was $99,000. This Relay is only for 3 medium size towns in the area, so we did pretty darn good!!! We figure we will reach $150,000 by the cutoff date which is in August!

The Kiwanis (and Dave) made $508 cooking hamburgers..... He worked himself to death from 8am until 11:30pm. He was sore and tired too. I was so proud of him and he told me, "I do it for you". Gotta love that!

All very awesome and another baby step toward helping to find a cure!

Tracy - your pics are beautiful!!!

Cathy - Glad you are feeling better.

Cindy - Bald again, that stinks! But it sounds like you are doing OK and that is really GOOD!!! (((hugs))).

Oh! One more thing - DAVE AND I ACTUALLY WENT LOOKING FOR DOGS TODAY!!!! We went to two Humane Societies.... Then to the pet store. I think he is realizing that to get the dog that we want, we may need to pay some $$ for it and maybe even go for a puppy.... We will see! He is softening up!!

His favorite breeds are: Lasa Apso, Shitzu, Schnoodle (we held one of these) and possibly a Sheltie or Mini Aussie. He likes light colored dogs - I tend toward dark colors.... It is an interesting learning experience about each other!

    Happy Sunday….

The weekend just flew by. I was tired this weekend and didn’t want to get out of bed either day.LOL.

It was a gorgeous weekend weather wise here, just perfect, 24C, no humidity and pleasant. Cody enjoyed her walks this weekend and I tossed the ball to her tonight after I got home. She is so funny to watch….I toss the ball and she starts running before the ball even hits the ground. A few times I tricked her and she was looking everywhere for the ball not realizing that I hadn’t thrown it.

I had a really nice day with my sister today before she went back to the hospital tonight. We went out to the movies, had lunch and then spent the rest of the day together. We also went to Super Pet and bought a really cool stuffed ostrich with this neck that moves back and forth and it also squeaks and the feet are made of ropes. Also bought Scooby a new bed that is washable and the stuff was super cheap, cost me $18.00 for both. I was also looking for the back paks that the trainer has been using for Scooby but they had none left so will look for them this week.

We are picking our pup up on Saturday, actually I am as my dh will be going to the trailer to finish working on the fence and we are getting a new roof put on it on Saturday. Cant wait to have her back home!

Our holidays are coming up in less than 8 weeks now. We have the first two weeks of August off and then of course I have the Friday of our get together off too!

Brenda – do you watch those animal shows, especially the ones with the mothers and their babies, oh they are so cute and funny to watch.

Kelly – Teryn sounds like little Suzy homemaker, how cute. She wears her poppa out by the sounds of it but he probably enjoys her company and it gives you a bit of break especially with all the hours that you are putting in. I have never worked 20 days straight let alone anymore than 5 days a week How long do you have to work the long hours?

Cathy – yah, you are feeling better. I was extremely glad that the “lump” was nothing and was dancing out of the surgeon’s office, what a nice way to start the weekend! I will also be arriving in Chicago on the Thursday night, flight gets in around 9:10 pm.

Cindy – that sucks that you have to loose your hair again. I am happy to hear that you are such a trooper and still going to meet up with us in August, cant wait to meet you in person! It would be nice to finish the chemo early but you don’t want to risk having your blood counts lowered by pushing it by doing it quicker. Healing thoughts are with you sister.

Tracyseattle – your post made me smile and at the same time sad that all of our names should even have to appear on the luminary for the Relay for Life. Thanks for representing us, you make us proud! Pretty soon you will be a proud dog owner again…

Hope everyone has had a great weekend, love to all my sisters.

    Hi Girls!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I haven't forgotten about the proposed agenda...will get to it soon...I promise. Living in a forest this time of the year is not easy! There's so much clean-up and gardening and weeding, etc. My right hand man (second to Roy) - the dude that helps us around here with outdoor projects, is MIA - so we're on our own again until I can find someone to take his place. The basement IS FINISHED! I am thrilled to no longer have strangers banging, pounding, etc. in my house! Here's some pics. I still have some finishing touches and furniture to buy...in due time.

    image

This section will eventually have a TV, dvd, etc. Yes...that's a REAL slot machine...direct from Atlantic City!
    image

This section will eventually have exercise equipment, although I don't mind at all going to my M-F routine at the healthclub.
    image

    --------------------

    Mary -
Sorry about your car accident. Thankfully no one was injured. Hope things are looking up soon.

    TaDah -
You look great as usual. I love your pink shirt and your short hair (although you looked great with the long red wig too)! So glad you could get away and island hop!

    TracyS -
Your walk was amazing - you should be so proud! Thanks for honoring all of us...

    Cindy -
Sorry about your hair. Hang in there - you're almost done!

    Meeshell -
My thoughts are with you and your sis and of course Scooby too!

    RoseMarie -
You can visit our backyard - ANYTIME! Don't forget...we are neighbors!

    Mary-Anne - Cathy -
Nothing better than sitting around a fire! Especially in the climates that us three live in!

    Cathy -
You really did well with your surgery! Hmmmmm...I'm almost considering it.

    Graycie -
Earth calling Graycie - come in Graycie!

    Debbie -
Huh?...Your little ones don't get released until Mid July? When do they go back?...End of July! LOL Come on...FREE THE LITTLE ONES! LOL

    -----------------------------------

Geesh...Monday's not far away! Work, work, work! Have a good one!

    Good Morning...

Cindy..You are one heck of a trooper. I love reading your cheery notes inspite of all that you are going through. You are so inspiring. I wish you only the best. Crap about the hair but you now know that it DOES grow back. Your blue coolmax probably looks really cute on you..very funky! Just have fun with it. It WILL be over!

Cathy..so glad you are doing better. Give yourself time to heal. Don't overdo it! Can't wait to see you in Chicago!

Laura..beautiful job on the basement. Enjoy it. May I suggest Happy Hour at about 5 or so on Friday to kick off the Rock-tober Fest? I know many will be there on Thurs but the rest of us will arrive on Friday.

Michele..glad to hear you had a nice visit with your sister. I hope she continues to heal. Hope you got rested so you can begin the new week!

TracyS..wow..thanks so much for making sure we were all at the relay with you! How cool! And so much money donated! That is huge! You rock, Girl!!!!

We have about 6 people to interview this evening for our prog.coordinator/office management position. And we have tons more resumes to go over and set up more interviews. Tiring stuff but very important.

So, I'm off to get my hair trimmed (he'd better not trim too much this time!!!!) and get some things done around the house today. Our hot, 104 degrees that we had yesterday, broke and it's much cooler today. No sun but cooler. It was like an oven yesterday!

    Have a good day, Ladies.

V - YOU GO GIRL!!! You ran??? Oh My! You are awesome!

    HEY ALL - GUESS WHAT????????

I have found the MOST PERFECT DOG!!!! He is a 7 month old Mini Australian Shepherd. He is black, white & tan. POTTY TRAINED (Yeah!) CRATE TRAINED (Yeah Again!) he also goes potty on command, walks off leash and runs to his crate when you tell him, "Go to your Bed".

He has a very sweet temprament - while I was there visiting last night, he was glued to my side the entire time. When I sat down, he crawled in my lap and went to sleep!!!

Dave is a little skeptical (I am becoming to know that this is just Dave) and he wanted a Female - Blue Merle (it is a color of Aussie) because he thinks they are pretty....

But I have to tell you that knowing this guy is already all trained and that he has an Awesome teprament are HUGE pluses....

Dave left it up to me and my decision is to get him.....

So - I need your help. The Breeders have named him "Forbes". I don't really like Forbes and I plan to gradually change his name.... I need suggestions!

Maybe something Australian (Paula?) since he is an Australian Shepherd. Or maybe something of a Northwest Nature (after all that is where he lives)....

Any Ideas??? You are going to LOVE him!!!! Not sure if I will pick him up tomorrow or Friday, I will keep you posted...

    Have a good day!
