Whew, I have just caught up on all the posts!!
It has been so pretty here that we spend every waking moment outside! I do a good job of keeping the kids suncreened up but I keep forgetting to put it on me! That drives my dh CRAZY! So I'm pretty dark now - never had a problem tanning but I'm trying to be better about protecting my skin!
Happy late mother's day!
I don't even know where to start...All the pics are gorgeous!!
Cathy - all I can say is WOW!!
TracyS - have said a prayer and will continue to think about you today!!
Love you all a LOT!!
Have a great day!! -
Well, RoseMarie..at least your tan won't come off in the pool! Nice to know you are having such good weather.
Michele..you are wearing me out! Wallpapering??? My mom used to wallpaper a lot when we were younger. She'd accent rooms with wallpaper. But, it's a heck of a lot of work! I sure hope that you got some sleep!
It's bedtime for me so g'nite! -
Nice photos everyone!
HAPPY BELATED MOTHER'S DAY (where applicable)!
-------------------------------
Hope you're all having a great Monday -
-------------------------------
Meeshell -
Wallpapering is a TON of work. Geesh...you have worn me out! Good luck - hope everything is finalized soon. You need a break, but you have SO earned your trip to Couples! Our landscaping is moving at a turtle's pace...because I am! Didn't feel well yesterday, so I lost the whole day! I'm swamped with Dad's Day and Graduation designs...hang in there...can't wait to see the photos!
Mary-Anne -
My all time favorite...cheese fondue (with french bread and apple slices for dipping) and yup, of course, a bottle of red! -
Hi Sisters!
Well, the interview was LONG and it seemed like I talked for 3 hours straight! I had one 10 minute break to go to the bathroom and that was it!
The people were all very nice, one guy kept asking me how I would manage a team that is much more technical than I am..... He kept finding different ways to phrase it. I SO wanted to say - "can you just STOP IT?" But I think I did Ok with the answers.... After all that is what a team is, right? Everyone has their own strengths.
Not sure when I will hear anything, but at least it is over!
Tonight I got to go to our City Council meeting because they were going to discuss waiving the permit fees for Aquafest. We have a state Senator from our city, I got to meet him and hear him speak.... interesting....
Well, now I am coasting downhill until Friday and VEGAS!!!
Long, tiring day - I am off to bed!
hugs & kisses to you all! -
Oh wow..that's a lot of talking! Good luck with that!
Vegas..I am very jealous! I need a vacation BAD!
Have a good day everybody. -
Good Morning Sisters,
My usual 4:00 a.m. wakeup and cant go back to sleep so here I am checking out how all my sisters are doing.
We lost the conditional offer on our new home as someone came in with a firm offer. Oh well we will find something else.
Actually yesterday we had two showings and the 2nd showing is looking really positive. It was a couple in their 30s, no children and 3 dogs. They were at our house from 8:00 pm. until 9:10 pm. I actually drove up to the driveway and was going to remain on the side of the road until they were done but they wanted to ask a few questions so I got out. They wanted to know about the property behind us who owed it, if it was the city or someone elses. Our neighbour three doors over owes all of it. They also had questions about the water quality and if we had previous water tests. Wanted to know about the flow level of the well, which I didnt know but they could certainly find out. Told them we have been 14 years and no problems with it. It is a shared well with the neighbours and the costs are split 50% as per a well agreement. They also asked about the train tracks across the roadway and when and how often the train came by and I told them its only a few times a day and not in the middle of the night. After awhile you dont even here it.
We are crossing our fingers that they will either come back for a 2nd showing or present us an offer.
I told my dh it would be so nice to be done with this process yesterday, its only been 2 weeks but this will be the 9th showing in 14 days. We are getting really good at swiftering the floors in a hurry.
I had my Zoladex injection yesterday, hurt like crap. My oncologist said that having an ooph at this point would give me the same side effects as what I now have but is more invasive. So I will continue on the injection route for now . He commented on how great my hair looked and I laughed and said you know actually I am kinda liking it right now as it is thick and the curls are starting to look not bad ..
Rosemarie get that sunscreen on sister, listen to your dh.
Debbie the wallpapering wore us out, didnt finish it until 10:30 pm on Sunday night, started on Saturday but didnt think it was going to take so long. Now its done and the room that had the crappy looking wallpapered walls now looks super. No more work is being done on our house now, just keeping it clean ..
Laura be good to yourself and listen to your body, if you feel crappy rest. The landscaping will be there for another day, I;m one to talk.LOL. Our Couples vacation is too far away right now. We have 2 weeks off in August were we will probably spend one of those weeks up at the trailer relaxing.
Tracyseattle the interview sounds like it went well. You are right that is what a team is all about, some have strengths and weakness that others dont and you feed on one another to get things done. The guy might also have been testing your ability to deal with some stress but asking the same question over and over again and to see if your answer changed. When do you find out the results? Is their a second interview? Do you normally followup with a thankyou letter to the person who invited you to the interview, that always says something about the candiate and shows continued interest in the position.
Enjoy your Vegas trip you have earned it!!!!
Paula how are you feeling? Hopefully you will be released from the hospital soon ..
Cindy how are you?
All my other sisters hello and have a great day, have to go back and get more sleep.
Love you all
Michele -
hi girls,
yes i am still at the hospital with my 3 drains.
I have got a 4 hour 'gate pass' from the hospital, so my best friend brought me home and feed me some wine, cheese and crackers!! i needed that.
washed my hair, got my internet fix, posted on my favourite board and will be back in the ward in an hour..
will catch up on all the posts when i am back... it should happen eventually, right??!!
love you all
xxxx
Paula -
Great to hear from you Paula! I'm glad to hear everything is going well.
Nice photos everyone. I think its wonderful how life has just kept moving on, we're travelling, reconstructing, buying and selling homes, changing jobs. Some of us have had setbacks but they'll pass too.
I had something to say but I forgot what it is. It'll come back. Or maybe it won't! I'll think of something else. -
Hi everyone,
I've been hanging out by the pool and taking Teryn to and from school. It's been nice being off work but I have to return tomorrow. Not really wanting to go in since I had my stitches out. My lifted/augmented one is sore where the stitches were removed. Maybe I will just take a pain pill when I get to work. I am wanting to call the dr and get some more time off work but I really cannot afford to do that.
Saw the pictures, they are all great. Glad that the vacations went well and that at least I know Paula is still kickin' ....... (taking a break from the hospital to get wine and cheese, lol)
Hope everyone is doing wonderful.
Love you lots. -
Oh Paula - know how you feel!
When i went back in after my 'incident' I was back in 13 days . People came, people went, i was still there/ I knew all the shifts staff, the cleaners, the cooks - everyone!!
Michelle - it will happen , dont worry. You have a well??? Arent you ever tempted to clim down and see how deep it is? I would be!
Its finally finished raining. It was raining when we went to the farm with nursery trip too. We had a fab day - the other nursery nurse and myself raced the kids down the toboggan slope on tea trays , the only accident was when a kid fell over a chicken and got chased, and one got their coat chewed by a goat.
Today i have been busy being a reader for our older kids External SATS and marking our classes internal spelling tests - never knew there were so many ways of spelling through!! Even began to doubt myself.
RoseMarie - wondered where you had gone - you obviously found my good weather.
TraceyS - glad things went OK - you must have been good or you wouldnt have got to that stage.
TraceyNY - hows the sewing going?? I made Mark and his friend Joe , some bags for crockery etc for scout camp as we were told they needed them . I sat making camoflage drawstring bags , embroidered with names and Pokemon into the early hours. I was gutted when the others turned up with shop plastic bags with their names on in biro!! Oh well
I had a panic today - I was supposed to pick Catherine up from school as we had to go to the asthma clinic. I was sat in the car with Markand she didnt arrive. I sat there for 30 mins, my phone went flat and she was nowhere to be seen. I checked school - that empty i could see the tumbleweed. Checked the meeting place - nothing. Drove the 30 mins home , to find her crying in the kitchen - she had got on the bus and only remembered when she was halfway home - still my beating heart! My heart goes out to the parents of missing 4 year old Maddy in Portugal, Iwas panicking and Catherine is a darn sight older!!
DEb - always thought you looked tanned in the photos - now i know!!
Debbie -
YOu were posting teh same time Kelly. Glad you are doing good - bet you are glad you had th epool now!
-
PAULA -
I can't believe you're still in the hospital! I feel so bad. But what a great friend! Hope you're able to go home permanently sometime soon.
Meeshell -
Sorry about the house. I'm keeping everything crossed for you and dh.
Debbie -
I would have freaked out...thank goodness she was at home! That must have been very scary! Hey, I'm impressed with Rog's rallying! Lots of fun...
Kelly -
Hope you're feeling pain-free soon!
TaDah -
Are you island hopping yet? If not, when?
------------------------
EVERYONE -
I'm really sore from working out and my lymph node removal arm is aching and more numb than usual and I can't find my Lymphedema sleeve! Arghhhhh...I have tore this house apart! I hope this doesn't turn into anything. I think I may have pushed myself a little too much. But it's hard not too, because there's so much inspiration there with all the girls. They've been at it much longer than I have. But my friend Barb used to be a personal trainer, so she's helping me get back into it all.
Gotta get back to work...
Have a great day! -
hi ladies
just wanted to let you know that my labwork is back and everything is up and normal. i'm no longer anemic, my white cells are up and normal, and everything is fine. whew! glad that's over now i can breathe and get back to work. hope everyone is having a good day!!! -
Amy - great news - lovely pic of you and your friends by the way
-
-
Amy...THE BEST NEWS! YES! I know how concerned you were... But...I told ya so!!!!
Debbie..what a terrible fright with Catherine! I would have been a wreck. Thank goodness she was at home and all is well! By the way..I never used self-tanners until a few weeks ago so what you have seen in my pictures is REAL tan! I have a perpetual tan on my face because we have sun most of the year here so my face is exposed all the time. I use sun screen on my face every day.
Paula..what a fun girlfriend you have! I sure hope you get released for good soon! Feel good.
Kelly.. thank goodness for that pool for your "pool therapy". I hope you feel better soon and feel as perky as your new additions look.
Victoria..you are just so cute! I love the pictures, Jewish Mother! Your son who thinks he has grown up (they never do!)is so tall. Your picture reminds me of the pictures they take of me with my youngest who is soooooooooo tall! What is in the background of the picture with your girlfriend? Is that at the church? Is that a cross with Jesus? It looks absolutely amazing. I can't really tell what all the materials are besides the tree, but it reminds me of some art/craft work that my girlfriend does using bark and natural things to decorate the bark for wall hangings.
Laura..hope your pain in your arm is better and that you found your sleeve...or order one of those fancy ones that Amy talked about....
I'm leaving for the beach and some grocery shopping. Then I'll return home to paint today. Did you hear that, Victoria? -
Paula - good to hear from you! Sorry you're still at the hospital but it's good to know you're being well taken care of!
Debbie - how scary! So glad Catherine's ok!!
Victoria - great pictures!
Michele - Too bad about the conditional offer - you'll find the perfect house!
Kelly - good luck going back to work!!
TracyS - just a few more days
Laura - thought about you when I got an invitation to Bunco! We start tonight. Don't know what I'm doing but I think it'll be fun.
I have become good friends with my neighbors and last week 8 of us got together and had a "My Girlfriend's Kitchen" party. It was so much fun. I prepared 6 meals for my family and everything has been really tasty so far. It's a bit expensive to do on a regular basis (at least for me) but it was a LOT of fun and we all walked away with dinners for our families.
Ok, have a wonderful day!! -
Okay, RoseMarie..I don't get what a "My Girlfriend's Kitchen" party is. I like the idea of walking away with dinners. But I don't get how it works. Details, please!
Went to the beach but didn't bring my walking shoes and so I sat on the beach instead. Still working on a real tan for my legs! Otherwise I will move into emergency mode and try that immediate color stuff since my "tan" is rubbing off and not even and pretty much not nice anymore!
Tomorrow will not be a nice day (today wasn't so great either) but then we will have sun and hot weather, but I won't get to the beach til next week.
On to painting... -
What is that Rosemarie???
-
I'm playing Bunco tonight too!
RoseMarie -
The bad part about is that because we only play once a month, I forget how to play, so everytime I go, I have to have the girls help me through it. It's so embarassing! Have fun with the "girls"! Let us know how it goes. I'm curious too about My Girlfriend's Kitchen?
ravdeb -
Do you remember the name of the sleeve place? Today, my whole body feels like a truck hit me...
------------------------
EVERYONE -
Because I'm playing Bunco tonight, I have to jump in the shower soon, but hope you all had a great day and a nice evening! With working out every morning, I'm struggling to get everything done. I'm going to have to start getting up two hours earlier to make up for the 2 hours I'm at the "Y". -
Ravdeb and Debbie .... We have those kinds of places here, too. Our local one is called Dream Dinners, I think.
It's a place where you can go with your friends and rent out the facility or you can go on your own at scheduled times and it's a huge kitchen. All the ingredients are there and you pay a fee and you prepare your meals and get them ready to cook. You decide how many meals you will make. Then you take them home and freeze them and then all you have to do is cook the meal and serve a side salad! -
Ladies - i am finally home. Cant describe how good that feels. I still have two drains in, so not exactly free.
Boobs are still slightly sore and one is definitely larger than the other (i am presuming extra swelling due to mastectomy). No pain whatsoever from my back incisions, which is really weird.
Will catch up on all the posts a bit later.. off to sit on my balcony to get some sun...
i truly do feel like a prisoner released from jail.
speak later,
xx -
WOW!!!! We are on page 300! Can you believe it?
Paula - so glad you are home! Rest and feel better!
I am still waiting to hear about the job.... I interviewed with the recruiter for Washington Mutual (where I work now) this evening. It is for a different position with WaMu. Sounds like I will have an interivew with the hiring manager soon.....
Today was a horrible stressful chaotic day at work, I am so at the end of my rope, that I am being cranky with everyone. I really hate being that way.... Something has to change and SOON!!!
Love ya, sisters! -
PAULA -
Yay You! I am sooooooooooooo happy for you! Is Mum taking care of you? Be well soon, hon!
Tracy -
Yikes - you've been through interview-hell! Hang in there, friend. I am so hoping something will change soon for you...as you so deserve it!
Meeshell -
How's new-house-hell? LOL Hang in there - you will be settled in, in no time and you will forget the pain, but I know this is all very stressful! Everything's still crossed for you...
---------------------------------------
EVERYONE -
I won $25 at Bunco tonight...but we didn't play Bunco! LOL The hostess had tables of four set up throughout her basement and there was a different game at each table. So we all played differant games and then rotated so that we all spent time with each other. A VERY SPECIAL lady sat with me at one of the games (she is the Mom of one of my Bunco Gals) and she confided that she is a 30 YEAR LOBULAR SURVIVOR! I hugged and kissed her and told her she was the longest survivor I have ever met! We hit it off big time...and she offered to donate toward my upcoming 39 mile walk. She is 78 years old and I swear she does not look older than 65! I hope my future and all of yours is just like hers!
-----------------------------
Thought for the night:
The mighty Oak was once just a little nut that stood his ground.
---------------------------
Love you all mucho! -
Laura..that is really an inspiration to meet a 30-year survivor. Wonderful!
I don't remember the name of those fancy sleeves..ask Amy. She had mentioned it a few times. I don't have a sleeve.
Paula...WELCOME HOME! Rest and relax and heal well. Hope you get some sunny days so you can enjoy your balcony.
I am relating to your release, Paula, because my father in law will be released from the hospital today! Finally. Our lives will slow down a bit. He will get home health at home instead of going to a geriatric rehab. They felt that he would be depressed there because most of the people there are helpless and he isn't. His physical therapist will be a friend of ours who does home health. She's good and very nice so I think he will be happy with that.
Kelly and RoseMarie..I still don't get the point of the Dream Dinners or what you did, RoseMarie. Is it so that you have more fun doing the routine cooking because you do it with friends? I don't really get it. Do you get new recipes this way? Gourmet?
A friend of ours here used to have cooking workshops at her house. She'd bring in somebody who specialized in something specific like bread baking, and then her guests would all learn to make the bread, and of course have bread later with wine and cheese or something like that. I never went to them..just know about them. But that's different.
Michele...from my experience, 2 weeks on the market is not a long time. I know. I know. You don't have patience! Good luck with it all. I know that you want to find that house to buy and sell yours and put it behind you already.
Have a good day, everybody. It's cleaning day for me and no house cleaner and my house is a PIT! -
Good Morning Sisters,
The past few mornings I havent had to get up and stay up to go back to sleep. Tuesday night I actually slept for 7 hours straight and last night I woke up at 1:30 and went back to sleep and then 4:45 and back to sleep again.
We had another 2 showings Tuesday night, one was in the horrendous rain storm. We have no offers yet and that couple that were here for over an hour on Monday night havent heard anything from them. Guess we have to be more patient ah ha whats that not my middle name.LOL.
Paula wow how nice you are an escapee from the hospital. Treat yourself nice and hopefully the remaining drains will be gone soon.
TracyNy you are such a positive inspiration and tell it like it is, you are a great lady!
Kelly how long are you able to stay off work? Glad to hear that you are doing pretty well.
Debbie444 no I am not tempted to climb into the well, probably wouldnt fit and it is enclosed like a little house as we have a shared well with our one neighbour. Your day trips at school sound like a hoot, poor little kid getting his coat chewed by a goat.
What a relief that Catherine was found!!! I feel sorry for those parents of that little girl that went missing in Portugal. It doesnt sound like it is going to be a happy ending unfortunately .It said in the news that her parents left her in the hotel room while they went to dinner, how old were her siblings that she was with? So sad to hear stories like this .
Laura take it easy on that arm. I lost my lymphodema sleeve for about a week and it surfaces in the laundry basket underneath a bunch of clothes. The new house hell is exactly that hell the stress and having to be on constant call sucks, cant wait for it to be over.LOL. Good for you on wining $25.00 at Bunco.
Amy congrats on the great blood results, what a relief for you!!
Victoria no we havent received any offers yet, very frustrating ..love the picture of you and your girlfriend!
Rosemarie you will have to come over to my house and prepare those dinners ha haa does sound like fun though.
Tracyseattle you might have a few job offers on hand to decide on, wouldnt that be great?
Deb I know that 2 weeks is not a long time but it seems like an eternity right now, haa haaJ
Have a super day ladies, gotta get ready for work!
Love you all
Michele -
victoria....i loved the pictures of you all. they were really great pictures. how are you doing? thinking about you!
laura....the shnazzy sleeve place is called "lymphadivas". i tried to find it online, but couldn't. they have such great sleeves, so i'll keep trying to find out how to get in touch with them. i'm thinking of getting a new sleeve too for when i go to the gym. mine is getting a bit raggedy.
tracy...i hope you hear good things from these jobs! i noticed too that we had reached our 300th post. so amazing
paula...welcome back to civilization i hope you enjoy that sun today (don't get burned!) so glad you're done with all this and now you can just relax. you'll feel even better once those drains are out...ugh, that was the most annoying part for me.
i'm still up in the air about chicago...my 2 best friends (from the picture) are thinking of coming to stay with me that weekend to celebrate my 2 year anniversary. we're thinking of going somewhere, doing the spa thing, and then i'll get my survivor tattoo we'll nail down the date in the next couple of weeks, so i can know for sure. i decided i'm getting a pink elephant tattoo. i've always loved elephants....they're all over my house and office...but now they have a deeper meaning. so, that's the one
off to the gym and then work and then tennis....whew! have a good thursday!!!
love,
amy -
-
OMG -
They actually have a Leopard One! -
Ravdeb:
So, you go into the store with your friends and you can bring wine if you like, all the ingredients and containers are there, you assemble your food ( NO GROCERY SHOPPING FOR IT) and make as many dinners all at one time. So, you can make 2, 3, 4 or 5 meals and leave. Go home, plop them in the fridge or freezer and bake them WHENEVER.
