I just read the new book "Boobs". It is about several different women and their journies with BC. I am reading Big Stone Gap by Adrianna Trigiani again. I love love love this series. In my car I am listening to "The Devil in the Junior League" and I have piles of Jodi Picoult books waiting to be read next. I also love "The First Time" by Joy Fielding and read it again last week.
All of my best friends are books...

True Evil by Greg Iles was great too, as was Black Cross, Blood memory and Turning Angel.

    Fatal Care by Leonard Goldberg
I just finished reading another of his novels - Deadly Exposure. They are really good. Very interesting with lots of plot twists. If you like mysteries (most of his books feature a forensic pathologist, Joanna Blalock)
I would highly recommend his books.

I am reading "The Knitting Circle" by Ann Hood. Ann Hood lost her 5 year old daughter and this is a novel about the same situation and the comfort she finds with the ladies in her knitting club. One has BC

Also I highly recommend "Marley and Me" laugh out loud funny in a lot of parts. Will make anyone feel good.

Just finished - and loved - The Tender Bar, by J. R. Moehringer - an absolutely beautifully written memoir of a young man who grew up in a bar. Poignant, funny, great characters, and just such beautiful writing - I recommend it highly. Also just read A Three Dog Life, by Abigail Thomas - another really special, life-changing kind of book. And, oh!! Take Big Bites, by Linda Ellerbee - a memoir/travel guide/food book, and nearly as good as taking a vacation for real. I love Linda and have read and enjoyed all her books, but this one really made me feel as if I had gotten away for an extended vacation. She is, of course, a breast cancer survivor, also.

I'm usually a mystery person - can't get enough of them. Interesting that my three recommendations were all memoir-type books, but they were all SUCH wonderful reads.

I just finished reading The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde. He is from another dimension I think! He has a great series about a character named Thursday Next.

For pure "read a book in a day" joy, I read Regency Romances.

I love mysteries as well. I am currently reading The Old Wine Shades by Martha Grimes, and will be checking her newest one out of the library next.

I also love Lord of the Rings and reread that often, and must admit to waiting eagerly for the final Harry Potter book...HP and the Deathly Hallows.

I am a teacher on vacation. Starting Monday, my reading goes on the fritz when I return to school

    Um, that is it!!!!

re-reading the Miss Seeton series by Heron Carvic. very funny British series about a little old lady whom things happen to. she just happens on a murder, or just happens to come across a post office being robbed, which she foils by judicious use of her umbrella.
just bought the latest Jesse Stone book by Robert Parker, tho I love his Spencer series better.
love the Nero Wolfe series by Rex Stout
adore the Southern Sisters series by Anne George -- Murder Boogies with Elvis, Murder on a Bad Hair Day, and so on. Set in Birmingham, with a retired English teacher and her outrageous sister and the detectives.

I am reading "Stars of David" by Amy Pogrebin. It is about various "stars'" views on being Jewish. It was a gift from a guest at our Seder last Monday. It's very enlightening.

I just finished the Jason Alexander segment (George on Seinfeld), and he said: "You can still keep kosher and eat shrimp and bacon at a Chinese restaurant." He grew up in an observant home, but his parents still ate these things at Chinese places. lol

I didn't know, until I read the book, that Dr. Laura stopped practicing Judaism, after making it such a big deal on her show for so long. It was just too hard. People weren't nice. Gosh. Nobody ever told me being Jewish is easy.

I am currently reading Trace by Patricia Cornwell. I am almost finished with the Scarpetta series. I just finished reading Flesh and Bone written by Jon Jefferson. It was actually written by John Jefferson and Dr.Bill Bass. They wrote Death's Acre about the Body Farm at the University of Tennessee. It is only about 15 miles or so from my home and John Jefferson was by son's SCUBA partner when he received his certification. (He didn't tell me this until after SCUBA was over so I never met him. But the books are really good if you like forensic stuff.

How is Trace? I've read all of the Scarpetta books at least twice. I just love them, even the not so popular "third person" versions.

I just started Jonathon Kellerman's "Obsession", pretty good so far. Just finished Elizabeth Taylor's most recent biography, (very interesting) and Jesse Kellerman's "Sunstroke".

Yes, Jonathon Kellerman writes mysteries. He's got several books, some better than others. He does write books with other characters, but his main character is Alex Delaware, a child psychologist who helps his friend on the policeforce solve mysteries. They are are mostly set in Southern California.

    Some good ones are:
    Self Defense
    Silent Partner
    Monster
    The Murder Book
    Devil's Waltz
    just to name a few.

"The Lost Continent" by Bill Bryson.

A quick read and hysterical. You will find yourself laughing out loud no matter where you are when reading this book.

All of us baby boomers can relate to the stories. Especially the rides in the car with the family. Help.

I just started Hide by Lisa Gardner. I love her and would recommend her to anyone looking for a new author to try.

What is Hissy Fit about? Love the title.

Hissy Fit is a good one! About a southern girl who is an interior designer who has some man problems at the beginning, but the book becomes much more than that. Deals with her relationship with her father, her good friend, the florist...very cute book. Also good is Savannah Blues by the same author.

I also saw a new book out by Joann Fluke but I forget the title. I will wait until it gets to paperback anyway. I buy her books for the recipes in that too. i just finished "grave surprise" by charlaine harris. about a girl who was struck by lightning years ago, and every since then, she can sense when a body is nearby, and she can see how they died.
also highly recommend the series by MaryJanice Davidson about Betsy, Queen of the Vampires, about a girl in her twenties who dies, and wakes up a few days later, and eventually figures out she's Queen of the Vampires, but all she wants to do is go shopping. very funny series, with a few sex scenes thrown in.
the southern sisters series by anne george is funny and charming -- murder on a bad hair day is one of the titles in the series -- about a retired english teacher and her sister who solve murders.

    Lisey's Story - Stephen King
Nature Girl - Carl Hiaason (I love his books - funny while making a point)
