Just for fun...What is everyone reading??

Gerbie and Margaret...if you guys like cookbooks and mysteries like I do, try some of Joanne Fluke and Dianne Mott Davidson's books. They write about a a central character who is a chef and she solves murders. Each author includes tons of recipes. I have made a lot of the menus and they are yummy.

Also, any knitter/readers out there, ever read Debbie Macomber's books, "The Shop On Blossom Street" and its sequel "A Good Yarn"? They also have a pattern included.

Gosh I love to read and when it combines two of my other loves, cooking and crafts, waht a bonus!!!

Since I'm working on my Master's in Literature, I guess I should say, "What am I NOT reading?!" Ha, ha!

I'm currently working on African American Literature, as it's the course I'm taking this semester, as well as a personal interest of mine. I especially love 20th century stuff, but we're focusing on the 19th century right now--mostly slave narratives and theoretical works by African American studies critics. It's fabulous.

I've also been doing so research and work in 18th century British studies, particularly that of the Restoration Theatre. Lots of scandal, bawdy humor, and fabulous fashion. Good Stuff.

Currently, for fun, I'm reading _Audrey Style_ by Pamela Clarke Keogh. It's great. It's all about Audrey Hepburn's personal style. I secretly (and by 'secretly' I mean 'not-so-secretly') want to be Audrey Hepburn. Badly.

Have you ever read the Jesse Stone novels by Robt Parker? They are pretty good and I notice he has a new one out. I also have seen a couple of them made into TV movies With Tom Selleck in the role of Jesse. Just curious.

Just purchased Mary Mary by James Patterson, will probably start reading it when my hubby goes back on the road on Sunday (he is a trucker and gone 5 days of the week. Wednesday I finished London Bridges by James Patterson. He is such a good author. I also enjoy Patricia Cornwell. John Saul is enjoyable to.

I am a big fan of Sydney Sheldon (obviously I won't be reading anymore of his books ) I tend to read all the books an author writes when I find one I like. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good author with his style. I really like when they bounce between people it really keeps you reading! Anyway, looking for a new book to read and don't have a clue what to get!

I've never read Sydney Sheldon so not familiar with the style. But Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plumb series is a delightful read. Start with 'One For The Money'. Also, I've become addicted recently to the Alex Cross series by James Patterson.

Alex Cross is my hero! He is so good to his Nana and his kids and I like the stories, too. I am currently reading Sandra Brown's Richochet. It is a pretty good mystery.

Gerbie, I haven't read the Jesse Stone novels. Have to check that out. Beth, I bought some books on eBay by Joanne Fluke and Dianne Mott Davidson so when I finish reading Glass Castles (a very good book about a very dysfunctional family, I think it is a true story) then I'll start them.

I've gotten "hooked" on Jodi Picoult books. I haven't found one that I didn't like! My Sister's Keeper, Plain Truth, Mercy, The Tenth Circle, The Pact....If you haven't tried her books give one a try. You can NEVER figure out the endings. There is always an unusual twist.

I love Alex Cross - need to go find some more of him. I'm currently reading a series of books by Vincent Flynn with a character named Mitch Rapp. He's a spy but very human - great stories. I probably read 3 or 4 books a week - we just came from the library and I grabbed 4 garden books and 7 novels to read.

Kelly, my mom is hooked on Vince Flynn and can't wait for a new one to be written. I am trying to branch out and taking some suggestions from all of you. It will be good to broaden my horizons a little.

I'm reading Winston Churchill's memoir of the Second World War - six volumes. I have finished vol. 1, The Gathering Storm, paused long enough to read Kathy's The Red Devil (after she posted here about her continuing 14 yr. Stage IV survival) and am nearly through vol.2, Their Finest Hour. I have The Grand Alliance, vol. 3, ready and waiting, but I have also recently bought (and gotten 20 pages into) Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking so I will probably take that to my next few appointmets (a paperback is so much easier than toting the hefty Churchill works) and finish it next.
I am a heavy reader at any time, but now, when I desperately need the occupation/distraction of my mind, books are a welcome, wonderful haven.

I finished Executive Power and am now reading Lisey's Story by Stephen King (right before dx I requested every Stephen King book written - but couldn't read them and returned them the other day after renewing them several times)but I'm having a hard time getting into it. Hoping it gets better.

I've been reading the Joe Grey Mysteries by Shirley Rousseau Murphy. Joe is a cat who can talk and read and solve mysteries. The first one was Cat on the Edge I believe and I've read about 4 of them now. They're kinda cute expecially if you're a cat fan. I'm also reading Wicked--The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Maguire. It's interesting. Happy Reading--NancyLee

Finished Lisey's Story this week - I liked it but I didn't get lost in Stephen King world like I normally do while reading one of his books (this time around - that's a good thing) Started a book called Short Stick - its pretty much a fluff book but that's ok.

Cooking at that level is akin to the intensity and training period of becoming a surgeon (without necessarily the big paycheck at the end).
