Happy 4th

A habit for all of us to develop would be to look for something to
appreciate in everyone we meet. We can all be generous with
appreciation. Everyone is grateful for it. It improves every human
relationship, it brings new courage to people facing difficulties, and
it brings out the best in everyone. So, give appreciation
generously whenever you can. You will never regret it.

She most certainly did and it is a shame people stayed home and didn't vote for her. Now here we are with out backs to the wall again.

Did a google search today to see how many children despicable Thomas and his reprehensible wife have since he is so antiabortion. Well, it seems he has a son from his first marriage which ended in divorce and none with the present horror show. They did take in her nephew but there is no further info on how that worked or if they truly raised him. He is an angry man who blames all his ills on his perceived slights (some are probably right) on white supremacy, the fact that he got in to Yale Law school due to affirmative action (which he felt degraded the value of his diploma) and doesn't seem to realize he plays right in to the hands of his oppressors by swinging to the extreme right. Why is it those with no children, and /or those who practiced birth control successfully are so antiabortion. He had one child that he did not raise, had none with the current nightmare (a blessing in disguise?) and yet wants to dictate that abortions and contraceptives are not to be used by others. Again, those women who fought for reproductive rights early in the 20th century did so to prevent a child per year, high child mortality and women mortality rates due to the frequency of births. So we are taking a giant step backward not just by 50 years but over 100 years to the sex only for procreation era. Try telling a man today that sex will be denied and see how the battered women rates increase or the ACB women acquiesce "as their duty". Where in the constitution does it say sex is a duty, privilege or protected act and under which Amendment? No one including the Pope has a right to what occurs within my bedroom and I've felt this way since my early reproductive years (TG they are over). I once read that someone who is proposing a reform usually starts with one that has the least impact on their personal life but major impact on the lives of others. Personally I am glad that his and her reproductive powers were held to none and that he only had one from his previous relationship. It's a mixed blessing. Rant over.

Life rushes us along and few people are strong enough to stop on their own. Most often, something unforeseen stops us and it is only then we have the time to take a seat at life's kitchen table. To know our own story and tell it. To listen to other people's stories. To remember that the real world is made up of just such stories. Until we stop ourselves or, more often, have been stopped, we hope to put certain of life's events "behind us" and get on with our living. After we stop we see that certain of life's issues will be with us for as long as we live. We will pass through them again and again, each time with a new story, each time with a greater understanding, until they become indistinguishable from our blessings and our wisdom. It's the way life teaches us how to live. -Rachel Naomi Remen

Well, Miss Boo Boo, gun laws sure as heck slow shootings down enough to suit me. I'd gladly accept 28 yrs. in between, to nullify the several times a day that is happening here. You're the sort that causes people to possibly say they hope you are next at facing a gun and good luck. I would like to think HER constituents just might be looking over their shoulders and accidentally vote for someone else next time. Someone with sense would be nice. She is a waste of oxygen to be sure.

Good time for a re-run of this.

Should have had this yesterday, but today is okay too.

Thanks Betrayal for looking up the info on the Thomas'es. Seems to me I read somethiing ( it has been a litle bit now ) about Thomas and his only son. So, I sort of knew that he had no other children. I don't at all agree with Thomas's self preservation methods which is all I see with him. Being a SC judge has given him massive freedom and he has not used it well. Just sad that he is truer to those who can give him an easier ride then he would have if he spoke out about REAL in-justice. He should be OFF the court, period and his wife should go to jail.
Where will we all be if some of this is not adjudicated as it should be and those indicted, no matter what position they held in government before or now.

I think she's got the Hanukkah oil story mixed up with bullet miracle, about 100 years off with the Mexican- American War, and I'm pretty sure the British were Christians. But I went to college a long time ago, so maybe I forgot my history lessons. Probably someone spoofing her, but still funny

Hearing the Loon may announce his run for '24 soon. He his getting terrified since Fox is not able to hold him up much from all the other channels showing the 1/6 hearings. He says Hutchinson is a liar, and I say boy is she a good one. She sure has the Loon on the run. Also, I'm sure he is aware that she has made it safe for others who know the truth to come out -- and they are too. He and his cohorts are in it neck deep and rising.
Usually no one announces until after mid-terms. That is the norm. I say since when did the Loon give a diddly-damn about norms. If he thinks he can save hiself possible indictment/prosecution, I think he would announce in a heartbeat.
Let's hope that there is plenty of SOLID material that can lead to a fairly quick indictment from Hutchinson and company. I also think that if the Loon is that worried -- then he has enough mentality left to REALLY feel the pain of being indicted at this time for the history books and posterity. It is what he needs, and what all of us need. We have laws so lawbreakers can pay up. It is time for the Loon to do just that.

One of th lousiest pictures I've ever seen. If mothers were graded -- she'd get and F just for this only. Can't imagine starting kids out this way.
Un-believable.

The people who scream the loudest about ending abortion are the ones who know that they could secretly get one if they needed it. They can look all righteous and holy as they want, comforted by the fact that they're not really going to be affected by any restrictions.
Interestingly, the American anti-abortion only began in the mid-1800's. It was driven by the same concerns (white men worried that protestant white women weren't popping out enough babies) that led to the eugenics movement in the early 20th century that in turn led to - wait for it - NAZIS!!

The Highland Park shooter (disgusting little MAGAt incel) had two prior run-ins with police, the first a suicide attempt with no follow-up, the second a threat to kill his entire family--in response, the police found and seized dozens of knives and even a sword. Nonetheless, he was then able to obtain a FOID (gun owner ID) card--because he was a minor his dad had to sponsor his application. Today the Crimo family's lawher issued a boilerplate "we're all parents and suffer with the families and offer thoughts & prayers" bullshit statement. REALLY? You ARMED your twisted little spawn. You don't deserve any sympathy--you LITERALLY put the gun in his hands. The rotten apple doesn't fall far from the hollow tree.
He had been planning this for months--including shaving his face & disguising himself in a long wig and women's shirt to evade detection and escape unnoticed. He walked to his mom's house, took her car, drove up to Madison, WI to ditch his cellphone in order to throw police off his tracks, and then drove back south into Lake County, where he was caught in even more affluent Lake Forest (with more guns in the car). He had made several "manifesto" videos dressed in riot gear, including one in which he expressed a desire to shoot up a school (and drew himself doing just that).
More info: he was photographed attending Trump rallies, and wrapped himself in a Trump flag. His dad, a sandwich-shop/convenience-store owner with no political or government experience, ran for mayor--contending his experience as a business owner qualified him. He lost, of course, to a female Democratic mayor. So the little shit probably felt he was avenging Daddy's loss to a liberal woman.
Highland Park is relatively affluent (as are all N. Shore suburbs from Wilmette up to just s. of the majority-African-American N. Chicago, Waukegan & Zion). Its primary demographic is Jewish & WASP; but has some diversity with a decent amount of affordable housing and outreach programs to minorities. The kid doubtless resented the hell out of both the upscale & minority populations of the town. He's been charged with 7 counts of 1st degree murder (each carrying a penalty of life without parole), will be remanded without bail. The State's Attorney announced more charges are pending--and I'm sure they'd include hate crimes, as 3 of the 7 victims were Jewish and one was Mexican. (The name of the 7th, who died today at a hospital in another suburb, has not been released pending notification of next of kin). I'd expect the Feds to get involved too.

The unhappiness we experience is not so much a result of the difficulties encountered along our journey as it is of our misperception of how life instructs us. We may see a failed relationship as an indictment of our self-worth when it is really a lesson in using better judgment, in valuing ourselves more, in expressing greater appreciation for our partner--lessons to prepare us for a more loving and fulfilling union. If we are passed over for a much-anticipated promotion, it may be just the push we need to get more training or to venture out on our own as an entrepreneur. As we rise to meet the challenges that are a natural part of living, we awaken to our many undiscovered gifts, to our inner power and our purpose.

Sandy you said it all:
Today the Crimo family's lawher issued a boilerplate "we're all parents and suffer with the families and offer thoughts & prayers" bullshit statement. REALLY? You ARMED your twisted little spawn. You don't deserve any sympathy--you LITERALLY put the gun in his hands. The rotten apple doesn't fall far from the hollow tree.
I am tired of people who suddendly feel the need to answer a problem that never should have happened in the first place and then doing so, by offering a crummy apology that solves nothing. What you people NEED to do is get out of the way so people who are ready and willing to enact prevention solutions to heinous acts like this one can. We are caught up in having to put salve on these wounds when a full blown solution would be the answer. AR 15 and high round magazines should require special use permits and only given out very slectively. These are items developed for one purpose only and to allow anyone, at almost any time, to possess them has been and will continue to be a grievous mistake.
I am saying that we need to rid ourselves of any organization or person who says anything about good guys with guns. Those good guys seem to be having a lot of trouble saving lives. Just look at our statistics for one day only. There is a way to get things done. We just have to develop the fortitude ( guts ) to do it. Quit putting weapons in circulation, get heavy-handed on prosecuting people, change laws, and make sure who has guns and make then buy insurance. Real freedom is not having to worry when you're next.

Gas prices are dropping here and I sure hope and pray they keep on for a while. My only buying half a tank -- I fill up when I get to 1/2 tank-- resulted the other day, when we were over $5.00 a gallon, in using up a slightly more than $60.00 dollar bill. We are around $4.68 at the moment. Still too much, but every little bit it comes down makes me feel a little less pressure, and I can sure use less right now with all else that is going on.
and I do definitely think this is going to give the Reps. fits. They need to have something against us and they are losing this perhaps. That along with what is turning up with the 1/6 committee is a bit devastating to them. Not sure how the media will protray that, but the above is a good example of the distress that side might be feeling. Interesting to see what the Loon will decide. I think many of the Reps. now see that some damages might actually accrue for the things they did to aide and abet the great orange nobody pretending to be president and still trying to pretend. I hope their troubles only multiply. In fact, I'm praying for it.

Right on Sandy, I agree with all you have said about this mass killing. The parents knew he had issues and chose to avoid resolving them and it seems others are willingly ratting them out about this. I cannot express how deeply I feel for the little 2 year old who lost both parents just because they wanted to take him to a celebratory parade. Joy to disaster in how many minutes? We are in such a downhill slide as a country that I am not sure if we will be able to stop it and that distresses me even more.

From the conservative media - via the Washington Post
• Fox News host Tucker Carlson blamed the massacre on medication given to young people, bleak economic prospects, and women nagging young men: "The authorities in their lives — mostly women — never stops lecturing them about their so-called privilege." He added: "So, a lot of young men in America are going nuts. Are you surprised?"
• Carlson's colleague Laura Ingraham homed in on the real culprit: marijuana. "What can regular pot use trigger in young men in particular? Psychosis and other violent personality changes," she said, blaming the media for "covering up the truth about the growing scourge of violent psychosis in our young people" created by weed.
• Newsmax host Greg Kelly decided the shooter must be some kind of leftist, even though the minimal political views he had appear to be a barely coherent mishmash, based on what we know. Kelly said: "He looks a little antifa-ish, doesn't he?"
• Conservative radio and TV host Mark Levin saw the big picture, blaming "Cultural decay, the decay of the civil society, the war on cops, the way that human life is viewed, whether it's abortion, infanticide, whatever the issue."
