Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!
Comments
-
HI Divas - just wanted to pass along some info from my visit with a nutritionist. Instead of WW, I am measuring so many fats/sugars/fruits/dairy etc...thought it was hard counting points...this is worse. As was explained and much to my dismay, I couldn't save up my points for the ice cream sandwiches at night...lol So, I am frustrated $80(not reimbursed from insur either) to come away more confused.
Now its down to simple logic. I know whats good for me so just do it! The one thing she did say that stuck with me is that we have control over what goes into our mouths. So this weekend I exercised that control with my brownie ala moade, margaritas and barecue pig out at Famous Daves. Oops almost forgot to mention the Blimpie...Yes I just watched my hand bring it up to my mouth and MMMMMMMM.
Well I am off for a walk this lunch hour. Enjoy the day ladies.

Diane -
HI Divas
Lois-I will check e-diets I like the idea of someone doing all the planning and thinking for me.
Shelia - that's great that your walking My goal is to get to the 3-mile. I want to do the walk in Princeton in Oct.
Today ladies I think I will be able to curb my appetite. Nothing like an upset stomach to keep the food away. Hope I'm not getting sick.
As always wishing you all a good day. It's fun to come here and laugh a bit.
May we all be a pound lighter tomorrow....
Hugs
Diane -
Hi Divas. Found a quick way to lose 5lbs get admitted to hospital with probable nowel obstruction, sit with a hose up your nose and no food for a week. Am fine mow and going to enjoy that home made soup by Mr Campbell.
You gals are doing great. and i do enjoy visiting each week to see how we all are doing.
I am using the GI Diet an it so simple no calorie counting and the whole family eats it though they cheat big time..... Basucally eating as little as possible processed food and eating foods that take longer for your body to digest.
Have a good week Floss -
Floss,
So sorry to hear you had to do the hospital routine to lose your pounds. I do hope you're okay now. Stick with Mr. Campbell and I'm sure you'll lose a few more.
Hugs,
Lois -
Hey Floss!
I follow weight watchers, but would like more info on your diet. I know high fiber foods take longer to digest and are filling. Do you have a web link?
Thanks,
BTW, ladies, should I be addressing all of you as Divas?))
Sheila -
Sheila . You will find this diet real easy. heres the web.....Even though i only lose about a pound a week if we looked at inches lostit would be more correct. My daily workouts at the gym are making me lean.

Good luck Floss -
Howdee from Texas y'all Divas!
I have been following your weight losses and I have not deserted you! Congratulations to all of you for sticking with it. My best intentions have me joining you in the war against fat within the next couple of weeks. Just had my oopherectomy last week, and am finishing up the kitchen remodel at home. Back to school Aug. 9th and once I get the all clear on the 13th from the surgeon I am back in the pool and back to Curves!! And hopefully giving you all a run for your money in the weight loss dept... Now if I can only get hubby to cut down on the portion sizes he serves(he's the cook in the house, and a damn good one too... Ultra gourmet!)
Hilde(but just for now!)
-
Hi Girls,
I have been following you throughout your "ups and downs" and definitely can relate to you. I didn't post earlier because we were headed for Europe and I knew that I was going to eat my through there and did. But the amazing thing is is that we walked so much-I didn't gain a pound. But that also could be because I already have a lot to lose.
Anyway, I foound a wonderful free website. I have used it off and on for a couple of years(mainly off). It is www.fitday.com and it is so good. You put in what you eat throughout the day and what exercises you did. It calculates the fat, carbs, protein, etc. and it lets you know if you burned more than you ate. It also helps you track your weight. It is great. Try it.
Now I have to start dieting. I would like to fit into my clothes. So you will be hearing from me.
Good luck.
Judy -
Hey Floss so sorry you had to lose weight the hard way..I hope you are feeling better!!

Diane-Monke how are you doing my partner in chocolate crimes??? How is work? Are you behaving????????? LOL!! I have the feeling you are up to something...Just think December is not that far away! We will treat ourselves !!
Lois how are you doing this week? Sounds like you are back on track....It will take time..WE will do it...........I know we will.....Are you walking with Harley and the hoots??? I know you will have a blast! Wish I could join you!
Rosebudd where are you?? We miss you...Please stop in and bring us up to date..I know you have been living it up with Flash and the girls..........I had a shot from the beach bag today also!! LOL!!!
Divas have a nice weekend!!!..xoxo,Patti -
Divas, Found this in my surfing...wanted to share it with you.
Don't Quit
When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down,
And you feel like the biggest failure in town.
When you want to give up just because you gave in,
and forget all about being healthy and thin.
So what! You went over points a bit,
It's your next move that counts..SO DON'T YOU QUIT!
It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.
It's learning new skills to get back in your range.
It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now,
You can take this challenge and beat it somehow."
It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal.
You're still gonna make it, just stay in control.
To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,
if you summon the will to get back in the race.
But, often the strugglers, when losing their grip,
Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.
And learn too late when the damage is done,
the race wasn't over..they still could have won.
Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,
but facing each challenge will help you grow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
the silver tint in a cloud of doubt.
When you're pushing the brink, just refuse to submit,
If you bite it, you write it....BUT DON'T YOU QUIT!!!!

It's Saturday and I have stayed on plan this past week. I hope it pays off when I weigh on Monday. Gosh, there is a lot of good fresh produce here right now. The tomatoes, cantaloupe and corn are absoluately wonderful.
Hey ladies - I started arimidex on Wednesday. Here's hoping it's successful and that I have no side effects.
We rented "Sea Biscuit" and are going to watch it tonight. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Marsha: I'm new to this post. I found your info on the Wendy Plan interesting. I've been a WW member for 2 years (lost 25 lbs). Kept it off until my dx 6 months ago. Now have 10 lbs. to lose. Reading the posts here has been helpful to me. My leader at WW had me sort of do the "Wendy Plan" last week, adding more points a few days. We'll see if it worked, I weigh in on Tuesdays. I also loved your little poem. I'm going to print it for my other WW members/friends. I'm going to keep checking any info here. I've been doing WW for so long now I feel I could probably be a leader so I'm not sure why I can't get off these 10 extra lbs. - Janet
-
Janet, Glad you joined us. I'll love having an experienced WW aboard since I'm new to the program.
Lois, You are making me hungry with the description of those luscious foods. Just remember that every day you get to make the decision to eat healthy, so don't dwell on the days that you made the decision to indulge.
I'm still losing weight, although at that snail's pace that tells me that I won't reach my goal weight until well into 2005! And that assumes no plateaus or holiday goodies. Yikes! I did 7 miles of "Walk Away the Pounds" today. So this is a really good day.
Floss, I hope you are feeling better.
Hilde, great to see you and your emoticons. I always love your posts.
Judy, thanks for the fitday web site.
Eileen, Sheila, Patti, Diane, and the lost Rosebudd, I hope you had a terrific weekend and that this week goes well for all of you. -
Good Morning Divas . . .hope everyone had a nice weekend. Mine was relaxing. Today is my new weigh in day and sadly I gained back that pound I lost last week.
I was doing pretty good last week until Weds. when we decided to have pizza for lunch. I had two of the smaller slices of Pizza Hut Super Supreme and one cheese stick. So having splurged for lunch, I had cheerios for dinner. Thursday, I splurged again. Theres this grinder place in Riverside called Delias, it has been around as long as I have. I remember as a young child going into Riverside with my Dad and picking up grinders and taking them home for dinner (its probably 15 - 20 minutes from my house). They bake their own bread everyday and it is crispy on the outside. So much that it flakes off when you bite into it and you have to have a wide area to eat over to catch all the crumbs. With all the construction going on around here, Ive had to find an alternate route home from work (everyone is using my normal route as their alternate). My new route takes me into Riverside within 1 mile of Delias. Many times Ive thought about stopping, but told myself NO because I was on my diet. Aside from the time I ate their 3 weeks after my last chemo and my taste buds were still on the blitz, I havent eaten there in almost 2 years!! Thurs I couldnt stand it and went to pick up dinner. I ordered a whole ham & cheese, extra meat and cheese (the only way to order a Delias grinder) easy on the oil. It was as good and delicious as I remember - so much so - I ate the WHOLE thing!!!!! Im too embarassed to tell you how big the whole thing is, but Ill tell you this, its bigger than the large at the other grinder/sub places!!!!!! So started the saga of eating foods Ive missed. Friday, for lunch I had a sope w/spicy pork (chili verde), rice & beans (didnt eat all the beans though) I havent eaten at Amapolas since February. So I think I have it all out of my system now. Just have to get back on the treadmill. Its been a bit cooler, so Im going to get on it tonight! I have to make myself.
Marsha, Im going to print that poem and put it on my refrigerator.
Patti, Floss, Rosebud, Diane and the rest of the Diet Divas hope you all had a successful week - unlike myself.
Hugs,
Lois -
I am sitting here at work reading this and you have made me so hungry!!!
Where is Riverside drive so I can get a grinder? I am now starving. I know I have hot wings in my fridge. I think i will leave early. V -
Marsha - doesn't matter whether you get the weight off this year or next as long as the scale is headed in the right direction.
Janet!!!!!!!! Welcome! I really like weight watchers and know it works when followed.
Lois, OK so you had a big splurge and now it's over. Just get back on the old wagon.
I think all this walking has to be helping me. The scale isn't moving too fast, but I know I'm probably more healthy than I have been for many years and health is the issue - not what the scale says!
(Gee, can't believe I said that!)
Sheila -
Hi Guys
love all those cute little pics you manage to put in your posts.
I've been trying hard to lose the kilos too.
I gained about 10 kilos and so far have managed to lose about 4.
It is sooo hard, but I guess we are the only ones who can make it happen. Now my hair is back and I'm out of treatment I am starting to feel more like myself, so the pavement is getting pounded, next the pool.
Can't wait for summer to get here, so much easier to exercise early mornings in summer than dark old winter days, but I guess then you'll be in the winter throws.
All the best to all of us shedding the kilos - here's to health and fitness with the odd glass of red wine - it's good for you you know!!! -
Hey Sharon,
Welcome to the Diet Divas! It's been too hot here for me to do my walking, I'm waiting for the cooler weather.
I received this "tip" from Denise Austin this morning and I know we all know this but this kinda just makes us feel better about the no weight loss if we have been good.
Todays' Tip:
Have you noticed a weight gain instead of a loss since starting the plan? Don't panic! After ruling out the obvious (not following the plan, for example) the next explanation is that your increased activity is building musclewhich weighs more than fat. That's actually good news because while muscle weighs more, it looks like less! Muscle tissue also uses more energy than fat, meaning you'll be burning more calories even when you're not exercising.
In fact, two women can weigh the same and, based on their fat-to-muscle ratio, look totally differenteither fit and lean or soft and doughy! So try not to focus too much on the scale! And make sure to keep track of lost inches with your tape measure, too! Remember that even if you're gaining muscle weight, you're increasing your fat-burning potential and reshaping your figure at the same time! You're looking great and feeling better.
I took my measurements a few months ago, but I'm not real good at remember to check them periodically. I know in my case, for the last month, I've been indulging - but there really hasn't been weight gain (lose a pound, gain it back) and no exercise. Maybe the muscle that I developed over the last 4 months is helping to burn all that extra FAT from my indulgin!!.
Still haven't got on the treadmill - I did order Billy Blank's new Tae Bo DVD's, which should be here any day. That means exercising downstairs where it's cooler. I really need to get a little leaner and meaner, the 3-day walk is just a few months away and I'm no way ready for it.
Lois -
Finally going in the right direction. Lost 1.8 lbs. this week (even with some wine and ice cream and my first week on tamoxifen). I guess filling out the journal does really help to keep you on track. Hope everyone else has a good week too.
-
Diane,
Glad you popped in - I know it's difficult trying to keep up with what's happening here. I find I seem to be a few days late when I see something and think I could I have missed that. Sounds like maybe you've been like me and "indulging" as Marsha puts it.
I got my new Tae Bo DVD's last night - so looks like I'm going to try a little Tae Bo with Billy tonight. Hope I don't hurt myself!
Hugs,
Lois -
Well I have been of the diet wagon and not I am back on the wagon again. I started last Friday and have lost 2 pounds please if you find them do not return them to the original owner LOL.
I need to loose a few more pounds by my daughters wedding which is 21 Aug 04, so I will be posting as often as I can. Work has had me traveling a bit (which makes dieting a hard thing). I have also not been myself with respect to my phycological side but am work to resolve.
Mel -
Hey Lois Tae Bo - you go girl! I had one of the first videos I couldn't do it(well maybe it's more like I didn't want to do it at the time) You'll be kickin butt before you know it.
Mel-I found your pounds. I am wearing them around my tummy. I hope you won't feel bad if I don't keep them.
Patti my friend typed you a nice pm and got disconnected when someone tried to ring me-knocked me right off the computer.
To all my dieting divas - get out there do little dance, eat a big salad, get down tonight....I think it's time for me to go home.....have a good night!
Diane -
Hi ladies-Ive been away for a bit-work has been so busy I sneak on and have little time to read let alone post. Congrats to all those who dropped an lb ot 2. For those of us who are still holding on to what we've got or even managed to aquire a couple of new ones - don't fret-there's always tomorrow(can you tell I am trying to convince myself too)
I just wanted to say Hi - you never far from my thoughts - good luck divas - If I don't get back before the weekend - have a good one.
miss ya
Diane
PS
Forgive me if I don't personalize this more - I would love to drop a little line to each of you, but work is calling.....hugs -
Hi Divas,
Well I'm biting the bullet and joining WW in the morning with my girlfriend. I hate to admit I've put on a few of the pounds I lost in the hospital, doesn't help that I've been soothing my nerves with chocolate this week (having a bone scan on Tuesday).
But I'm looking forward to taking some action. I hear the meeting leader on Sat. morning at this WW's is supposed to be fantastic--so I'm hoping to leave motivated!!
My husband and I went on a "date" tonight--arranged for the girls to sleep over my parents, so between dinner (mexican), and the movie (M&M's), I've probably added a pound before my official weigh in
Hope everyone has a great weekend--Eileen -
Hey Diva's .........I have been slacking off of the diet a bit ...Last week was a total bust.............I started it up again this week..........I have not been posting much..My computer is obsolete and I need to replace it...............It is so slow..............I hope you are all enjoying your summer......AS soon as I get my new computer I will be visiting more often...........I have missed you all................xoxo,Patti
-
Patti:
Good to hear from you!! You're missed when you're not on the boards. Take care and we'll hope to hear from you when your fingers are 'flying' on the new computer.!!
Blessings,
Pat -
Hey, Lois, the heat is getting me down. Unfortunately it's a combination of the internal hot flash type heat and the outside temperature.
How are you doing?
I'm still "walking away the pounds" although I'm also overdosing on popsicles. I can eat 10 of those puppies in a day. Luckily they are only 35 calories each, but still...way too much sugar.
Patti, good to see you back on the boards.
All you other "losers"...CONGRATULATIONS!!! May you never find those pounds again. -
Patti, glad to hear from you. I know about the "slacking off", I've been doing it for a month now. I am happy to report though that I did my Tae Bo last night. I spent 50 mins learning the different punches and kicks and found out that when you wear tennis shoes they don't "pivot" on carpet. So the shoes came off and I did my workout bare footed. Now I need to get some kind of mat. It wasn't real cardio, but I got real sweaty and could feel some burn in the gluts. So I figured it had to be of some good.
Raven, sounds like your "date" was wonderful, it's o.k. to splurge. The occasional splurges and indulgence makes us feel less deprived I think, we just have to remember to get on track.
Marsha, how you holding up in this heat we're having??? I had to have the air on all night last night, I don't know why because it doesn't seem to cool off well upstairs - slept with the fan on me. I can't stand it this hot.
Hope everyone else is doing great.
Hugs,
Lois -
Hi Divas!
You all are so inspiring, even though you "fall off the wagon" now and again, you get right back on and strive to keep losing weight. I am in my last week of piggedness... Monday next week I hit the pool for at least a mile and plan on 5 days a week of swimming and Curves. Luckily hubby is all gangbusters to work out too, and since he cooks, out meals have gotten a lot healthier too!
I started back to school this week.... so darn early in Texas! It's tiring just sitting there getting useless information for hours, and working setting up my classroom. I do have to remember that I had surgery 3 weeks ago, and it was still surgery even if it was laparoscopic.
Patti, so glad to see you back, you will LOVE having a new computer and how speedy it is!
Keep at it divas! We WILL be lean and mean!
Hilde -
Marsha: I just wanted to let you know that the poem you posted here a few weeks ago really inspired me. I've dropped 3.2 lbs in 2 weeks (go figure started Tamoxifen at the same time -- maybe a side effect for me is weight loss,I can only hope!!!). I've shared your poem with my WW buddies and they also loved it and hope it will inspire them.
Hope everyone is a "loser" this week.
