Hi Girls....I've decided to get serious and join your ranks. I'm 3 months out from tx. and can't stand it that I have no clothes to wear. With summer here I'm getting sick of showing this fat body off. My son started me on a weight workout. Has really been bugging me to start so now along with the aches and pain from chemo and arimidex I'm hurting all over. OUCH. Going to go buy the South Beach diet book. Seems that's what all the drs. are recommending. You girls are an inspiration to me...the successes and the slipups. Misery loves company so I'm here. Only thing is I hate drinking all that water.....
Pauline E. -
Hi Shelia and Pauline ....So glad you both joined us.............I have been struggling with the extra pounds for a while...I have lost 15 pounds in total and still have another 15 to go........For me this has been a slow process....I have a tendancy to cheat a bit...LOL!!!!! But the fact remains that I am losing and doing it slowly.............So hopefully it will stay off............And we need to have rewards and something to look forward to every now and again.............Right????????????
Shelia have a wonderful time on your vacation.......I hope you find lots of peace on the beach.......Soak up the sun and have lots of fun............We will be waiting for you to share your vacation details with us when you return.......
Pauline sounds like you are off to a great start...I joined Weight Watchers on line..I love it............Good luck with south Beach...
Anybody have any good recipes for the grill???
HI Divas...I hope you are all enjoying your weekend..................xoxo,Patti -
Hello, Everybody!
Well, the parents are back in their own home and I'm free, free, free! I didn't lose any weight last week, but I kept up my exercise and good eating so I know this week will be better.
Patti, 15 pounds is fabulous! If you can do that even while overindulging now and again, you are going to be at goal before you know it. Did you see the info for Heaven's Bistro pizzas and No Pudge Brownies? I tried the pizza. It's okay, but you can have 1/4 of a Pizza Hut 4forAll pizza which tastes a lot better for about the same points.
Has anyone heard anything new from Eileen? Is she out of the hospital?
And, Floss...17 pounds...wow!!!
A warm welcome to Sheila and Pauline. Best of luck to you.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'll be checking in during the week to see how everyone is doing. -
Hey Marsha, does that mean you can have 1/4 of one of the "4's" or you get all of one of the "4's"????
I didn't do so good on my exercise - didn't get around to it until Saturday and this week doesn't look so good either. I'm leaving Weds am to visit my great nephew and niece - besides it's too hot here and not much in the mood. Glad you're free and keeping up with the exercise.
My weight loss since March is 23 big FAT ones! I got a lot more FAT ones to lose!!!!
Good luck everyone.
Hugs,
Lois -
Lois,
12-13 points for 1/4 of the whole thing or a whole one of the "4's". Have a good visit with the niece and nephew.
I love that you have lost 23 pounds. I'm hoping to lose 13 pounds more before I see my oncologist again in August. -
Hey Diva's - hope all are doing well. Congrats to all th
-
Diane,
I was laughing as I read your post and I would have ate the carrot stick and gone back for the brownie also!!!! LOL Sometimes I can resist those goodies and sometimes I have no will power. Now the candy jar with all the chocolates sits on my desk everyday. I had one and only one yesterday, first chocolate in 4 days.
I'm off tomorrow for Laughlin to spend a couple days with the little kiddies - I'm looking forward to that. Means no dieting and no exercising and probably gain 5 pounds. If I were counting points I could eat that one of the "4" pizza and not feel quilty!! But oh well - it just means it's going to take me longer to lose the fat.
Enjoy your week Divas - stay on track!!
Hugs,
Lois
P.S. My birthday is in Jiu-yue - thank's for that info! -
What the heck happened??? I guess I was to busy stuffing chinese food in my mouth...lol. So here we go again - congrats to all the weight loss everyone Patti / Lois / Marsha / It's not easy, boy is it no easy. I give you lots of credit and you should pat yourselves on the back.
I haven't moved an ounce and when I do, it's in the wrong direction. So I have come to the conclusion (at least for today) that I am going to eat whatever I want in moderation. I realized when I "forbid " myself certain foods I get rebelious with myself and eat it and say "so there"....lol.
It's like there's this good girl on one shoulder saying "you don't want that brownie, this carrot stick is so much better for you and tasty too" but that bad girl on the other side is saying "hell no...what are ya crazy...a carrot over a brownie...get real"
So what do I do? I eat the carrot stick then I go back for the brownie....lol
Hey just opened my fortune cookie - it's a good one too which I would like to share and wish each one of you:
"Your life will be happy and peaceful"
On the uplifting note, I will sign off for now and go and crunch some numbers. HAve a good one ladies.
Hugs
Diane
FYI
Septemer in Chinese is Jiu-yue (in case you were wondering...lol) -
OMG Rose is home!! Hooray!! We missed you...You go girl losing 5 pounds on vacation!!
Raven welcome home friend...WE missed you and thought about you all of the time....Get rest and get well soon....And treat yourself to some chocolate...It always helps and is good for the mind................
Lois I hope you are off having a blast with the little one's.......And I hope you are treating yourself to some goodies.......That is what vacation is all about....Letting go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to your return...You will have to fill us in..............
Diane....Diane........Where are you???????? I have been so bad the past few days.....How are you doing??? Have you made any decisions about going away??? ...I have been thinking about you...
Marsha you made it through the visit with the folks !!!!!! Do you live in NYC?? Are you going to join us in Decemeber when we meet for the holidays....Thanks for the pizza tips...
I think my nerves have gotten to me a bit..I am the type that can swing either way when I am under the weather.........I am back to watching things again today.........Took a nice long walk along the river here last night..There is a little beach and I was collecting sea shells and beach glass.........It is good exercise...Lots of bending........And very theraputic....I am going to try doing that every night...My problem area is my middle////Maybe the bending will help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well Divas I have chatted up another storm...Better get moving..Sitting here won't help the middle..........LOL!!!
love to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Patti -
Patti, I am in California so I won't be joining you in NYC, but I will be looking forward to the pictures. I bet all that bending is really good for your waistline!
Eileen, I'm so glad you are home. I hope you feel much, much better very soon.
Divas, another week has gone by. Sometimes I am amazed at how quickly time passes. Have a great weekend. "See" you next week. -
Hey divas, Sounds like everyone is doing well. Diane, I know which one I would choose--brownies or carrots!!!! Lois, you go girl! Enjoy those babies! Everyone deserves to have a vacation and to eat what they want!! Patty that is great that you lost 15 pounds! Lois, 23 pounds! Floss-17 pounds. I've lost about 5--I better get moving! Hugs, Rosebudd -
Hello Divas,
Got back this evening - had a great time with the kids. It was blistering hot in Laughlin so we hung out in the hotel and at the mall (had to buy the kids new shoes). I took them to see Spiderman 2 and to the arcade - they had a blast and Aunt Lois is exhausted. I did take them to the pool the first night - of course, I sat by the poolside (didn't take the suit - wasn't sure my rubber boob would work in it). Marissa had a floaty vest on but Patrick didn't. Marissa is "swimming" across the pool with Patrick doing the doggy paddle behind her. He gets in a little too deep, I see he's having a hard time I'm yelling at him to "turn around - come back". He goes down once and now I'm a little panicked. A very kind gentleman sees everything and swims over to him and swoops him up and brings him back to the edge. Thank God! Patrick is now safe in the 3' section, I asked him how he was and he says "I never drowned before" with a smile on his face. Needless to say he didn't venture out past the 3' section without the floaty vest. We didn't go to the pool again. I had a great time it was good to see them, but I am glad to be home. Afraid to get on the scale, may wait a few days.
Raven, glad you're doing well and welcome back Rosebud.
Marsha, where in So. Cal are you? I'm in So Cal too!!! I live in Moreno Valley (near Riverside).
Well, it's late and I'm tired. I had some technical difficulties with my computer that I had to fix before I could even get all my messages tonight and read some of the posts. But it's all fixed now.
Hugs,
Lois -
Welcome back Lois, sounds like you had a fabulous time and that your kiddies are really doing well! This is the meaning of life--family, good friends and happy times just hanging out!! Don't you think after what we've been through those times are the best!!!!
***Anyone got any low cal cherry cobbler recipes? Cherries are out now and they are so GOOOOD. Also, some of you are mentioning walking tapes or tapes of some sorts-could you explain. I'm thinking of quiting my gym membership and think some walking may help. Thanks Divas!! We are all looking MARVELOUS!!! Rosebudd -
Hi Divas--Boy I missed all of you. Congrats to everyone on their weight loss, and congrats to everyone who is making the effort to get healthy and fit.
I wound up loosing about 9 pounds during this little drama--fevers destroy your appetite. Of course once I'm better, I'm sure the appetite will come back and then I'll have to struggle to resist the sweets again!
We are going to a neighbors for a BBQ today--don't know how long I'll stay as I have no stamina, but my husband and the girls will have fun in their pool.
Good to be home. Have a great weekend everyone!
Eileen -
Eileen, You have fun at the barbeque and let others wait on you. You chose a difficult way to loose nine pounds!!!! I'm glad you are feeling better! hugs, rosebudd
-
Eileen, Rosebud's right that's a difficult way to lose 9 pounds - but congrats maybe you'll be able to keep it off with some healthy eating.
Rosebud, I got an audio CD "Walk Fit" with Kathy Smith - "Pump up the Pace" it's a 1 hour audio or 2 30 mins. It says it's advanced but you can go at your own pace. I use it with my treadmill and put the CD in my computer and listen to it that way. I've only used it twice now, I did the hour and walked 2.6 miles with it and then a 30 min and walked 1.25. It has a variety of music and she talks you through some of it. I think it's designed for outdoor walking with a portable cd player. I liked it. I haven't tried anything else yet. I have a membership with IFit.com for use with my treadmill. That's good too, but it's only 35 minute workouts, but I guess you can double up for longer. The only problem with it is that I have dial up and sometimes my connection is too slow and I lose the workout and have to resort to turning on the stereo and finishing the workout on my own. Kathy Smith has a website with other videos and audios. Some of the girls have mentioned Leslie Sansone (sp?), I've heard they are good too.
Good luck with the exercise. Eileen hope the BBQ was good.
Hugs,
Lois -
Hey, Lois,
I am down in Dana Point, just north of San Clemente. I'm sweltering with these 80 degree temperatures and no air conditioning, but I bet it's even hotter inland.
Rosebudd,
I bought the 2-DVD pack of Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away the Pounds" that includes 1-mile, 2-mile and 3-mile aerobic walking-in-place programs that you do in your home. It's great for me because I can wear shorts, a sports bra and no wig while I do the workout. Part of the workout uses 2-pound weights, but I do it without using the weights. If you are pretty fit, these workouts may be too easy for you. After about a month, I have progressed to doing the 3-mile (without weights) somewhat easily.
Eileen,
Please take it easy and get well soon. At least by losing the 9 pounds, there was some positive in what had to have been a very scary experience.
Well, Divas, tomorrow morning is weigh-in. Hope I've made more progress this week than last. -
Hi Divias
Welome home Raven! I hope you are doing well. What a way to lose the weight. Hope you had a nice time at the barbecue.
Lois - glad to hear you had such a nice time with the kids. Isn't it great how they can make everything seem good-my friends kids always perk me up.
Patti - hope your doing OK - I know what you mean about the nerves swinging a bit on down days. Walking along the river picking sea shells and sand glass sounds truly relaxing. I used to love walking the jersey shore-haven't done it in awhile.
Hey Rosebud - welcome back - haven't seen you here in awhile (I know I have away a bit too)
Ladies-I discovered something very important this weekend. I am not a camping kind a gal. My friend and her husband have a trailer on Lake Champlain(NY side). So we decided to make a girls weekend and a few of us went up. Well there was a bathroom(sort of) inside the trailer but the showers were public. Even though there were curtains, I felt weird. Too many bugs and no matter where I stood I seemed to be downwind of the goats. (They were cute though) I have so many bites(not on my boobs thank goodness)
We shopped in Vermont a bit. The best part of the trip was eating out...lol. Met some very nice folks from Canada..it was nice to get away for a few. But after this past year - show me the Hilton!
People ask me if I would do it again.....I don't know.....any campers out there with words of advice?!?
Well - time to hit the sack. I am beat 5 hours on the road is long time.
Take care ladies - looking forward to cathing up with everyone.
Patti - you thought you chatted up a storm...lol
Hugs
Diane -
Hi Divas woe is me. didnt lose my 1 lb this week must have cheated too much...... Still doing my Nubodys 7 days a week and feeling great.losing inches instead, muscle does weigh more than fat right.
Hope you are all doing great if not lets just have some fun with it. Floss -
Marsha,
My Mom and brother live in Carlsbad, I was down there Saturday (took my Mom home after our trip). We should try to get together sometime - you're not that far away. You're right, it's hot here. My walking has taken a back seat right now. My treadmill is upstairs and the A/C doesn't cool well up there, I'm not about to get heat stroke walking on a treadmill!!!!
Diane, at least you had a trailer to stay in! I don't think I'm a camping kinda gal either and we're going to be sleeping in tents during the SF 3-Day Walk. Yikes!!!
Hope everyone did well over the weekend. I'm back on the diet today.
Hugs,
Lois -
Diane, I was cracking up when I read your post. Definitely show me the Hilton...goats?!?!? Ugh! Sounds like too much nature too close...lol.
Lois, We should try to get together sometime. Send me a PM next time you plan a trip down and we'll see if we can meet somewhere that works for both of us.
Floss, Don't worry about not losing your pound, just move forward to lose a pound this week.
I did okay last week. Dropped 4 pounds. Unfortunately at this rate it's going to take me two years to reach my goal weight...no exaggeration! -
Congrats Marsha - 4 pounds wow!!!!! That's good, most I ever lost in one week is 2! Well I weighed this morning - good news didn't gain any over the little vacation. But didn't lose any either - still carrying the 2 I gained over the 4th (I guess it's safe to say that it's not water retention now! LOL) I'll PM you next time I head down that way - we could meet for "low cal" lunch or something.
Floss, don't fret about not losing your pound. As long as you're eating right and doing your exercises, you're doing everything right.
Hugs,
Lois -
Congrats Marsha, 4 pounds is awesome. I keep thinking "baby steps", just take it one day/one pound at a time.
When my girlfriend gets back from vacation in about a week, we are going to join Weight Watchers together. I'm hoping that going with a friend will help me stay motivated. I'm still down about 10 pounds from my fevers, but I think a lot of that was my chemo bloat. I was having horrible night sweats in the hospital, which I thought was strictly from the fevers, but now I think I was letting go of the water retention from chemo. My face is actually looking more like it did pre-chemo. So I'm hoping this weight loss is here to stay!!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Eileen -
Eileen,
It was so good to see your post. I hope you are feeling MUCH better.
Have a great weekend everyone! -
Welcome home Eileen!! Great to have you posting again!! We missed you!!
Diva's no weight loss for me to report this week...I am scrathing my head over that !! I walked more this week than ever......Oh well there is always next week! Right??????? I have my first three month check up on Tuesday...
Wishing you all a safe weekend ...Till next week my friends.............xoxo,Patti -
Patti, maybe you have muscle gain from the walking - muscle weighs more than fat!!!! I've been bad, haven't exercised in 2 weeks, but I haven't gained either - just carrying the 2 I gained over the 4th. Yesterday was my weigh in but I forgot to weigh so I'll do it tomorrow - maybe I've lost a pound since Sunday - wishful thinking.
Eileen, hope you're feeling better and the weight stays off!
Happy weight loss everyone!!
Hugs,
Lois -
Patti, You are doing weightwatchers, right? Have you read about the Wendie Plan? I had one week where I only lost 1/2 pound and since I have so much to lose, I knew it couldn't be a plateau. Now I use the Wendie plan and so far it is working. I adjusted it slightly so that my high-point day is on the weekend. Here is the link:
http://www.stormpc.com/ww/wendie_plan.htm -
Hi everyone! I'm back from vacation - up two lbs and will be back on track tomorrow. I don't belong to WW but I follow that plan and walk 5 days a week. I'll see the Dr on Wednesday - probably will begin Tamoxifen. I've gotta get this weight off and know I can do it once I find my mindset.
Have a great week.
Sheila -
Diane,
Sounds like you had lots of control over what went in your mouth - LOL!!!!!!! Yummm, your weekend sounds better than mine - no splurging for me.
If you Divas are interested, I'm on the E-Diets plan. They have numerous diet plans you can select ie Atkins, Slim Fast, Dr. Phil etc. What I like is they give you meal plans for the whole week and a grocery list. Each meal can be changed from a set list. So if you don't like what they selected for your breakfast, you can change it to something else on the list. This works for me, because the calories are already counted and you just have to eat what's on the meal plan for the day - no guessing!
I weighed Sunday and finally lost one of July 4th pounds and I didn't exercise last week. I probably would have done better had I done some walking - but it's just been way too hot here.
Sheila, welcome back - hope you had a great vacation.
Good luck everyone - wishing you pounds lost this week.
Hugs,
Lois -
Diane,
I'm sitting here laughing my butt off (I wish). You certainly did control what went into your mouth. Of my goodness, that is so funny.
I had a good day. We did our 3.6 mile walk and I kept track of my points. Gotta get the weight off ladies - I'm going on a cruise in October.
Gee, it's nice to post here one this thread and not talk about you know what!
Sheila
