Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!
Comments
-
Well, I had my first weigh-in this morning after a week of Walk Away the Pounds and Weight Watcher point counting. I lost 5.5 pounds! I know you tend to lose more in the first couple of weeks, but I'll take any victories that I can get.
-
My goodness, Lois has lost 2 lbs and marsh 5.5 lbs!! WOW. Patty, count me in for the chocolate!! Patty, I also had dizziness periodically after chemo. My doctor told me a virus as well..??? I hope you feel better. I recieved your emoticons and will try them. Right now I am busy getting ready to go on vacation to Disney World!!!!! Diane, it will be great to see you in NYC. Raven, Are you okay? I remember feeling a little scared after rads. No doctors checking up on me. Plus, I was VERY tired. You've been down a very hard road! Hope everyone is well! Love, Rosebudd
-
Way to go Marsha!! Obviously the party food didn't hamper your weight loss. Rosebud, hope you have a great time at Disney World.
I wanted to share another low cal recipe - Chicken Parmesan. Don't know why they called it parmesan, it doesn't have a lick of parmesan in it. But it was very good and VERY EASY!
Chicken Parmesan*
Ingredients:
2 oz. boneless chicken breast
2 tbsp. low sodium breadcrumbs
1/4 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 serving cooking spray
1/4 cup tomato sauce, low sodium
1/2 oz. low fat or fat-free shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 egg white
1 oz. (dry) pasta
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Prepare your pasta of choice such as ziti or penne according to recipe directions, omitting salt. Rinse chicken and pat dry. In a shallow dish, mix breadcrumbs with Italian seasoning. Lightly beat egg white in another shallow dish. Coat chicken with egg white and then with breadcrumb mixture. Place chicken in baking pan lightly sprayed with cooking spray, cover with tin foil and bake for 15-20 minutes until center of the chicken is no longer pink. Uncover, top with tomato sauce and cheese. Return to oven and bake for an additional 4-5 minutes; serve over cooked pasta.
As cooked above, the recipe only has 369 cal. 9 g total fat, 4 g sat. fat and 42 carbs. Makes 1 serving.
It's only me in my household and one serving is fine for me, but I planned ahead and will have this again this week and put 2 servings in the freezer (will see how those taste next week). I took 4 chicken breasts and cut them all into strips, making my servings about 2 1/2 to 3 oz. and I used the egg beaters "all whites" liquid eggs. I also used my favorite jar spaghetti sauce (since I had some in the freezer). I baked the strips for 20 minutes, when I went to put the sauce on, the strips looked like they hadn't cooked - but they were. Next time I'd cook them for 10 minutes and turn them over and cook another 10 to brown both sides and maybe even shoot the top with a little cooking spray before turning them over just so they can brown a bit. It was a really quick and easy recipe. Tasty too! I also spooned a tiny bit more sauce (about a tablespoon & 1/2) on my pasta.
My friend cancelled our 3 mile walk today, so I was on my own. I walked 1.5 miles on the treadmill and rode my stationery bike 4 miles. I had to make up for only working out 2 times last week, plus I had bought "red vines" for the kids and ate some myself. Ooops
Hugs,
Lois -
Way to go Marsha--5.5 pounds is terrific!
Lois--2 pounds is great too! Glad that little party the other night didn't undo your hard work!
Got back from the ranch last night. My kids had a great time--place was nice, lots of activities, very clean, good food--even better desserts! And they got to play with their cousins--so they weren't fighting with each other!
My underarm is really nasty, and painful--hope it heals soon. I didn't do much at the ranch, just paddle boats with my DH. The rest of the time I sat and enjoyed watching everyone having fun. We were a group of 25 in all, so there was always someone to hang out with. Of course, I was on the un-diet this weekend, did I mention the great desserts?
No more excuses--have to get my act together, especially if I'm going to go to the NYC get together!!
Rosebud--thanks for your concern. It is a little scary to be entering the waiting game. I'm just going to try and stay busy and focus on getting myself back in shape.
It's good to be home! Have a great day everyone! -

I tried cozy shack no suger added pudding over the weekend..It was pretty good ...3 WW points... -
Hi Ladies - having a tough day here at work - I got really emotional all of a sudden and I have schedules to do that I am not sure on how to approach them. So I came here for a little solitude and relief.
Patti - good luck with the weigh in.
Thanks for listening...
Gotta run off to see my boss
Diane -
Oh Diane..I am so sorry that you are having a bummer day..........Remeber you are not that far out of treatment...Menopause was forced upon us..And life is just plain old tough at times... ..Maybe it is part of forced menopuase..Not really sure...I am not on any meds ER-PR- so I can't blame it on that...
Sending you a big hug xoxo,Patti
-
Diane, I am sorry you had a bad day---I hope tomorrow is better. I do the 2 step myself. So.... The nurses at my onc's office says that we can blame much on our menopause. Most of the time life is good, but then there are those days....maybe that is why we find chocolate so good. Speaking of which I had a chocolate fit today! Spent a good 1/2 hour searching my secret hiding places looking for just one piece. I had none--it was awful. Good night my Divas, I will dream of Chocolate! Hugs, Rosebudd

Welome home Raven
Lois & Marsha congrats on the weight loss. That's terrific!
Patti - loved your emoticons - can't wait to get to NYC the peppermint patties are on me!
Remember those 2 lbs I lost - well - my scaled must have moved when I cleaned it. Guess what I am up 1 lb! Talk about a bummer!
HAve a good day!
Diane -
Raven,
Yee Haw!!So glad you had a good time on the ranch! With all the yummy desserts, how could you not! I finished rads late April, I had a little tender raw spot in my "crease" near the underarm. My bra would settle there and rub. I had to keep the greasy medicated gauze on it covered with regular gauze for about 1 1/2 wks.
It is scarey being done with treatments, but I try not to focus on that. My focus is on getting "healthy", if I'm healthy (diet and exercise) I should be able to ward off any nasty cancer.
Hugs,
Lois -
Patti, hope the weigh in was good. I have to admit I've been doing that 2 step also. We'll see what happens on Thursday - my weigh in. I've been having a craving for chocolate lately and there's a big jar on my desk full with an assortment of chocolate (fun size and mini's). Most days, I'm good about not digging in to it, but the last couple of days I've had to have a couple - I'll just drink lots of water to try to flush it out - LOL!!!
Diane, was it the yogurt or that yummy delicious sausage??? My lunch today is "salad greens" w/ oil/vinegar dressing, deli roast beef w/low fat cheese, mustard on whole wheat and fruit of choice. YUMMMM! I'm about saladed out - my meal plans call for "salad greens" for lunch and dinner.
Hugs,
Lois -
After I posted here, I found out we lost our beloved Tink. Now I'm depressed
and my big jar of chocolates is calling my name!!!!! What do I do??? Succumb or hold strong???
Lois -
flush it out...lol That was really funny Lois. I say go a bit of chocolate. It's been a tough day. I opted for the yogurt and a cup of mushroom bisque soup. Then at 3:30 a piece of bithday cake.
Patti - how did the weigh in go?
Well time to shut down at work. Have a good eveing, I check later.
Hugs
Diane -
Patti, How did the weigh-in go?
Rosebudd, The latest studies are saying that some fat in the diet may not be so bad after all. I'm waiting for the study that shows chocolate to be the miracle drug for everything!
Raven, Glad you had a good time at the ranch. Be careful about sweating on that skin until it heals. Don't get impatient.
Diane, Sorry you were having a bad day. Hope today was better.
Lois, Congratulations on the weight loss. Thanks for the recipe. I went to three different grocery stores today to find some of the items suggested by the Hungry Girl site because I know that I need food that's easy to fix for one and with some variety.
To Everyone, Thanks for the encouragement. I was actually able to do the 1-, 2- AND 3-mile WATP yesterday (without weights). Unfortunately, today was spent doing chores in preparation for my parent's visit. They fly in tomorrow for 9 days. I may go insane...
I may not be posting much while they are here, so if I don't "talk" to you before then, have a wonderful Independence Day! -
Hi Divas -
Thanks Rosebud for your well wishes. Feeling a bit better but very sad about Tink.
How were the chocolate dreams? Don't ya just hate it when your all of chocolate. It is like staple-kind of like milk!
Dieting ladies, well, sucks right now. I went looking for a dress for my friends wedding and even with my new hooters things didn't look right. I got all frustrated and had an ice-cream-and it wasn't even that good!
So right now it's lunch - do I go with the low fat yogurt parfait or the YUMMY SAUSAGE HOAGIE!
I let you know!
UMMMMM sausage bad yogurt good
Hugs
Diane -
Patti - your emoticons are the best - thanks for the hugs!
Diane -
Marsha--thanks for your concern. I went to Sloan yesterday because the wound under my arm was looking really nasty. The nurse cleaned it out and put a 3-day dressing on it. I go back Friday to get it checked and redressed. I'm fortunate to have central air, so I only sweat when a hot flash hits
Trying not to ease my pain with chocolate!!
Good luck with your parents' visit. I love my parents dearly, and they have been a tremendous help to me through all this, but there have been times over the past few months that I thought if I had to spend one more minute with them I would loose my mind!!
Have a great day everyone! -
Calling all Diva's....I finally had a bit of success on the scale this weigh in period...Two pounds........Now the trick is to keep it that way....
I have to remember to stick to the fruit on top of the cake>>

-
I BINGED!!!!!!!!!!!
Patti, Congrats on the 2 lbs. WHOOHOOO!!! The chocolate you smelled was 2 fun size milky ways on my breath!!!!!!
I got home last night and ate TEN red vines (the ones I bought for the kids - of course, I bought 2 packages - one for them and one for me in case I got the urge - I could indulge without feeling guilty that I ate the candy I bought for them - my first mistake was buying 2 pks.) Then I ate a handful of almonds - unsalted so they were better for me than salted. Then I tought I better just have dinner, so I had my reserved Chicken Parmesan. Instead of having my designated dessert for the night (1/2 c frozen yogurt and graham crackers) I had a handful of pretzels. I truly am an emotional eater!!!!!
Tomorrow is my weigh-in day, so I had a sneak peak this morning. Good news I haven't gained weight, bad news I haven't lost any either. I didn't do my workout last night, so tonight I definitely have to hit the treadmill and I might even get a few miles on the bike. I have to burn up all that candy!!!
Sunday is going to be "un-diet", having my brother and his family over for 4th of July festivities. We'll be eating all kinds of good things and watching the fireworks from my upper balcony.
Happy 4th everyone! -
Hello Divas,
Today was the official weigh-in: 1 lb. I guess that's better than nothing or +1!!! Must have been the binge day - I didn't drink enough water to flush out the goodies.
I need to pump up my exercise routine. I only exercised 2 days this week and last week. So tonight it's a double treadmill workout - instead of 35 mins it's 70 mins and 4 miles on the bike.
Sunday will be a day of feasting, but we'll all have to try not to over indulge - especially me!!
Hope everyone has a good weekend!!
Hugs,
Lois -
Hey Diva's - congrats to all those who lost lbs and for those of us who have not - there's is always tomorrow.
You know - I really think exercise plays such a big roll in losing/maintaining weight. It's a shame too 'cause I hate it....lol But imagine this-you could eat whatever you wanted so long as you exercised daily!
just in case some are getting a jump start on the holiday weekend just wanted to say have a fun weekend everyone...I am tossing my diet out for a few days and just going to relax, enjoy life and all the wonderful treats I can.-
Eat something yummy, be safe and have a great 4th!
Hugs
Diane -
Diva's off the board for a few days...Getting ready for company<< Eat,Drink and be very very merry.......Oh and splurge!!!!! C-H-O-C-O-L-A-T-E
for every one this weekend!!!!!!!!!!! And anything else your heart desires !! We will get back to business next week!!See you all here next week!!xoxo,Patti
Oh and stay off the scales!!LOL!!Last but not least do not forget to get your chocolate in...
-
Been away from the boards for a while and naughty me i have been bad too. Oh well didnt lose any weight this week or so. I am not doing the scales tommmorow but I have lost .....17 Ilbs since May not bad.
Still doing the Nubodys 6/7 and invited Richard Simmons back into my living room for Tone up on Broadway.. I just love the little guy. So will start doing that 3 times a week. The cat just rolls loves that tape too. tries to jump and catch the elastic band, when he does he adds a little more weight(12lbs) resistance. Also I returned to Physio for my frozen arm and shoulder so have a bunch of excercises for her to do daily...
Well Girls happy 4th july..no dieting allowed right.
Hugs Floss -
Okay, ladies, three more days until my parents go home. I came to the office for a meeting and thought I would make a quick post.
I hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend. The fireworks were grand. I always get a little teary when I hear the patriotic music.
I only lost 2.4 pounds last week, but I'm sticking to my exercise and eating plan. It's awfully hard when you have guests that want to go out to eat all the time, but I've been trying to just eat 1/3 or 1/2 of the entree.
Looking forward to hearing all of your holiday adventures. -
Hi Ladies-hope all had a wonderful 4th. I have been walking again and not one pound dropped off! Oh well, I guess it's really back to WW starting..........tomorrow. My friend's August wedding is quickly approaching.
Anyway, I have a bit of delimma. A couple of friends invited me up to a trailer on lake champlain for a weekend. The trailer has a bathroom but no showers. I am not into public showering. They say it's private. I am just 3 mths out of my expander exchange and don't feel comfortable even going to my condo pool. I also don't want to hold them back from doing any kind of outdoors stuff. So, I don't know what to say. I didn't camp as a girl scout and really don't have much interest in doing it now. Sorry to ramble, it seems kind of silly actually. This time last year I was getting scanned/tested up the wazoo and preparing for my bi-lat mast. Kind a puts things in perspective - huh!
Have a good day!
Diane -
Hi Diva's...I have been having computer issues!! I just received a note from our friend Raven-Eileen....She was admitted to the hospital finally after suffering with rad burns and fevers.......She is at Sloan Kettering in NYC..She was admitted for cellulitis ...Her implant may also be infected...Her family is wonderful and they are pitching in with Eileens children..She wanted you all to know that she has lost 4 pounds...Not the way she wanted to loose weight but she said she will take it!! What a sense of humor our dear friend has!!! We miss you Eileen!!!!!!!!!!
Me on the other hand went hog wild over the 4th!! I am trying to get back on track...
Hey Diane looks like we are back to square one.....We will do it.....I hope you are feeling better today..
Floss nice to see you are doing well...Keep up the good work.....You are our inspiration..Keep us in line........
Marsha you are too good!! I totaly blew my diet this past weekend...I am going to get started again today...Are the folks still there????
Rosebud............Are you still in Disney?? Hope you are having a blast!!!!!! WE miss you...
To my other friends we miss you..Log in for a visit....xoxo,Patti -
Well . . . the weekend was delicious and today was weigh in and I GAINED 2 POUNDS. I don't know how that could happen???? LOL I think it has to be water retention!!! LOL Well, trying to get back on track this week and next week Weds. I'm off for a few days to visit the little kiddies in Laughlin. So looks like off diet again - oh well.
Haven't had time to check in too much this week, sorry to hear Raven in hosp. hope she's out soon.
Got to go,
Lois -
Hi Lois don't feel bad I gained also...I have not been on the scale yet but my pants tell the truth..........OHHHHHHHHHHHH so tight around the middle.................. I have company and it has been so hard........I hope you have a great time next week...........
So ladies my plan is to have this weight off my X-mas........So if we do the two step a bit here and there we will get to our goal eventually....
Eileen we miss you !!!!!!!!!!! Rose are you on the roller coaster still????????????????????
xoxo,Patti -
Hi Ladies - don't worry about a few pounds. We are still doing great.....wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.....Hugs
Diane -
Can I join this party?
I only have three rad treatments to go. Hubby and I have been faithful walking a minimum of 5 days a week. I gained 10 lbs since diagnosis in March. I would like to lose 15 by the end of October as we have a cruise planned. The scale is NOT cooperating. However, my clothes fit better and I feel great. We are eating nutritional foods.
I keep telling myself if we keep walking the weight will eventually drop off. This is the most I've ever enjoyed exercise. It gives us some time together and that is nice. Otherwise we get busy doing our own things in the evening.
Leaving Wednesday on vacation. Going to Atlanta to see my son and family. Then on over to the east coast - maybe Savannah. Anyone been there and have any suggestions about places to see? I want to spend a couple of days on the shore and listen to the surf. There is something about the ocean that is medicine for my soul.
Sheila
