Madison, the afghan is beautiful as always. Thank you.

Madison - it is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
-
Madison and Vickie, as always you two are so wonderful at putting us all together and sending our love out to thsoe who need it. I think it is great that we are getting together from all over the boards to do this. And being from all different walks of life and parts of the country it proves people can work together towards a common goal. And what brought us together is more than aluminum hooks and needles and yarn...it is love.
-
Thank you Beth...I love this project.
Madison...wow...it is beautiful and believe it or not it looks a lot like the one I'm working on.
Great job!
Love and hugs
Vickie -
Vickie like beautiful snowflakes and all of us, each afghan is so unique and different. The similarities come from the pooling of love and warmth you and Madison sew together! I am very sentimental lately, sorry. Just celebrated my dad's 18th year of his passing, his yahrtzheit. It has been hard for me and my mom because of my upcoming surgery has echoes of his. Ok, back to making a baby blanket and celebrating life! Enough sad!
-
cheri, i'm jealous. if i come over this weekend will you and your daughter show me how to use the knifty knitter???
-
That is a very lovely blanket....the recipient of it will definately be wrapped with love....
You both do such a wonderful job putting these together...Ive tried to work with several other peoples blocks before and I know it can be a challenge to get things to fit right...my hat off to the two of you...this is such a wonderful project.
Hugs

Susan, you betch! Just carry you behind on out here and I'll have Amber show you (I think she does a little better job than I do) how to do it. It puts out some really fluffy, soft squares. Or maybe by then, after viewing Liz's CD, I'll know how to crochet by hand like I prefer.
Jus tell me what you like to drink, snack on, and don't look at my house ofr expect me to be in anything but jammies!! We'll have fun, no telling what the squares will look like. hahahah I'd love to have you, Dennis will be gone this week-end and I think Ambers busy so I'll be alone.

I have a thought. How about an afghan sent out to Elizabeth Edwards? Nothing political intended but more to let her know we are here and to draw some attention to this wonderful site.
I have a couple of new girls working really hard on afghans with the knifty knitters so I may be able to gather enough squares to put one together rather quickly and not leave anyone here out.
Just seeing what everyones opinion is on this...
Love and hugs
Vickie -
Is it too late to join in this? Is this an ongong project? I knit. I start projects ALL the time and never finish them. But I could start and finsih one of these squares with all the yarn I have stashed....
Sandy -
Vickie - I think that's a wonderful idea ... you'd want to include something that talks about this site - specifically the discussion groups and the support and connections that develop... if she doesn't already know of this site it might be a safe haven for her to come to ... and even if it just raises some awareness of the site - that'd be a good thing...
Just my opinion ... from someone who's not even making any squares! I'd be happy to help you guys with money, yarn, postage ... anything you'd need ... as I love this project! Just don't have the time or the skills to contribute squares...
Doreen -
Sandy - always room for one more. Welcome and thanks for helping.
Vickie - wonderful idea!

Another Beautiful piece of Love, Madison!! I love the heart in the middle....who was the fancy one?

That is great!! Fun isn't it?
Hugs,

Vickie,
I had the same thought as I was watching the news a bit ago. I think it would be a wonderful thing to do!!
Hugs,

Welcome Sandy, we sure could use another knitter. Come join us!
Vickie, your idea sounds alright to me.

Hi everybody, just letting you know that I keep reading this thread but am not making much progress here (7 blocks done) as I have been working most evenings in addition to during the days. Afghans are looking good but I was sorry to hear Mrs. Edwards is back in our midst. You're all very sweet and I miss ya. -- Donna in vA

Vickie,
What a great idea. I have to admit to a bias -- I'm from NC, although I've lived in IL for several years. I have an emotional connection to the Edwards, and especially to Elizabeth.
Cherryl -
I think sending one to EE would be a wonderful idea. I can't imagine receiving a diagnosis like hers and then having to be so public about it.
The heart square caught my eye, too. I also noticed that someone out there has good taste in yarn, as I picked out the same variegated soft blue/green one.
I'm up to about 6 squares now, and will pick up some yarn from my MIL this weekend. I'll probably get a few more done as we drive, not to mention while MIL and I chit-chat. She's such a blessing, and a 6 year survivor.
Hugs to all!

I just found a very a-propos quote:
"Hell, there are no rules here-- we're trying to accomplish something."
Thomas A. Edison
US inventor (1847 - 1931)
He has other interesting quotes at this website: http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Thomas_A._Edison/
I found the quote above while reading "25 things for charity blogspot. An interesting idea that sounds like fun.

Madison - it's beautiful, thank you
Cheri - 40 squares! wow you go girl
Vickie - I think that is a wonderful idea
Sandi - Welcome
I am becoming a yarn addict. I find myself seeking out new colors, patterns, designs and textures all the time. Everything takes a back seat to making another square.
Hello My name is sue and I'm a yarnaholic. hehehehe
hugs all,
Sue -
Boo, i had help, I didn't do them all at once! Ten of them are the crocheted ones that i worked on about 6 weeks! And they taper. Plus my dd did the majority of the rest she's alot faster than i am. lol

Okay...I want to be a part of this group! This is definitely a wonderful thing you all have been doing and I'd love to be a part of it! Okay?
I can knit - belong to a prayer shawl ministry at my church.
Best I can tell, you need the squares to be 7"x9", right?
I probably won't be able to get started making the squares until this weekend, but, I have TONS of yarn.
Can someone pm me and let me know where to mail the squares when I've knitted up a batch?
hugs,
vicki -
Hi Vicki,
Welcome. It's a great group your joining. Yes the squares are really 7"x9".
We send completed squares to Madison and Vickie and they put them together and send them out.
PM Vickie and Madison for their addresses.
Sue -
Thanks, Sue! I'm excited to be joining ya'll...
hugs,
vicki -
Hey Vicki, thanks for joining we can always use another pair of hands. I'm just learning but this is such a worthwhile effort that I had to be involved. I've nagged about everyone on here for help. lol Welcome aboard.
cheri -
Y'know, I love coming back to this thread--it's so cheerful and productive and positive.
I'm not making squares, because I tried teaching my kids to do them and they ended up mastering the round Knifty Knitters instead--so they've launched a project to knit chemo hats for the local hospitals. Oh, well...
But I did want to suggest that if you need yarn, a great way to get it is to post in the "wanted" section on your local Craigslist. Tell them what you want it for and--voila!--seems like everyone in town is eager to dig out that yarn they've stored away at the back of their closet. One ad and we have bags and bags of beautiful yarn. The donors seem relieved to find a way out of their "unfinished project" dilemma!
Cheri, I'm following your progress with delight, cheering all the way. You go, girl!
Lovely, lovely afghans. Thanks to all for your inspiring enthusiasm,
Binney -
I've mention and showed some of the afgans to others that knit or crochet and they'cve said they will try to make some squares for us too. so I'll collect them and send them on when I get a buch to send.
Great Idea about craigs list -
Welcome to all new here!!! This is fantastic.
Annie, I made several squares that have soft blue, green, yellow, etc....this yarn is by Red Heart-Color 0318-Waterfall. I love looking at all the new colors in yarn every time I go to the store!! -
Welcome to all the joiners!! So glad to have you! Vickie and Madison can make "magic" out of what we send them!!
Hugs,
Denise
p.s. Madison, I pm'd you this am.
Hugs,
Denise
