I rated this tread a 5 also!
Sue -
ok, officially bummed. took a crocheted object of undefineable proportions and took it apart. I'm back to two completed squares.
-
I changed my picture so you can see me seriously working on my kntting.
-
So I'm needing to know what you all mail your squares in and about how many you send at once. Right now I think I have about 10 crocheted triangles and about 10 knitted ones. I appreciate the advice.

I want to take a sec and thank the people that sent me yarn so that I can stay active in this project...
I live in a rural community that doesnt have house delivery so was very surprised today when I went to the post office and there were 3 boxes of yarn there waiting for me!!!!!!
The colors are beautiful!!!!!!! I cant wait to start crocheting...I need to find a couple more different patterns though, I get bored with the same two that I have so keep switcing back and for...
If any of you ladies have directions for 7 x 9 blocks that you would like to share the would also be appreciated....
Again, I really appreciate your ladies help and am very honored to be able to do this ...
Hugs
Jule -
Jule, I sent you a pm as well. Let me know where I can help.
Look at the following links for ideas:

Hopefully you will get some inspiration.
Saw Socallisa in chat just now and spread the word about the afghans. -
Cheri,
I just pick up the priority mail boxes at the p.o. for free. I usually put 12 to 15 in one. It cost me $4.80 to mail to Vickie and $5.18 to mail to Madison. 2 or 3 day delivery.
Hugs,
Denise -
Jule,
I'm so glad you received some yarn! That's what's so great about this site....If anyone can help someone, they are more than willing!! Love these girls!
I use the knifty knitter and am kinda sick of the same stitch, but I haven't found a different one yet. If anyone has a different stitch for the knitter, Please let me know!
Hugs,
Denise -
Hi Madison and Vickie,
Just packaged my squares for you. 14 or 15 apiece! They will go in the mail first thing in the morning!
Hugs,
Denise -
Jule- You're welcome for the yarn. Let me know if you need more I have LOTS...Yep, I'm a craft store shopping addict!
Denise - I just bought a book of patterns in info about loom knitting. I have barely cracked the cover, but there are some cool patterns in it...even a cable knit that looks really cool. I will make some copies of a few of the patterns when I get a chance....
Deb C -
Liz...I got your rectangles (took a few blue drinks to figure out that we aren't making squares LOL). What can I say other than they are so very pretty! I am working hard at the next one and the one I sent yesterday should arrive tomorrow or Thursday.
Thanks all your the best!
Oh Deb...could I get some copies too...pretty please...I love the loom knitting but there aren't many patterns out there for them. -
Ladies, I will finish the afghan tonight
I would have finished last night, but helped one of my daughters bake cupcakes for a fund raiser for a young man killed 2 years ago...they are raising money for a scholarship fund at the law school.
I'll start the new one tomorrow!!
You are the greatest!! -
Deb,
Thanks! I've been looking for more books on loom knitting, and there aren't many to be found in stores. I have one basic that I bought when I bought the Knifty Knitter..but that is it. I keep meaning to look online to see what they offer, but everytime I log on, I come here!!!! Copies would be great, or even the name and where you got the book!
Hugs,
Denise -
I will have another afghan ready to send by the weekend ladies!! Now that I'm over my self induced exhaustion LOL I am back on track. The one I mailed Monday should be delivered today or tomorrow!
Your all the best
Love and hugs
Vickie -
Hi Ladies,
Beth thank you for the links...I found a pattern there last night that works really well....made two last night and one this morning before work...
Vickie, Madison,
Squares are in the mail...I sent them priority so you should receive them in 2-3 days they said.
take care all

Vickie and Madison
I sent a box of squares to each of you today. I bought some new boxes and they hold 21 squares instead of 9. Less trips to the post office for me but it will be longer in between shipments to you.
Hope everyone is well. I just love this project.
Sue -
Thanks Sue
Robin TN received her afghan today.
Vickie has one in the mail.
I will have a new one in the mail tomorrow.
We could not do this project without all of your help.
Thank you so much.
Hugs, Madison -
the one I put in the mail says it has been delivered! woohoo!!
-
After reading Robin's reaction to her afghan, I decided to get off my duff and start knitting for our community afghan. I've been lurking on this thread long enough. I have lots of sport weight baby yarn leftover from baby afghans and sweaters. If I use two strands, what size needles should I use. If you only crochet and having been using sport weight yarn with two strands, what size hook do you use. The hook size should be enough info for me to use a chart to find the right needle size. Hey, thanks. You've brightened a lot of lives with your stitches.

Laura..welcome to the afghan group...
I have a question for you..I need to knit a baby blanket for an new grandbaby due in May...do you have directions for that?? Simple knitting...
I have some more "squares" also to send but will wait til I have alot... -
Lisa, try this link for this baby blanket. It uses one skein of the pound of love yarn from lion brand. It is listed as easy and it sounds like you are a more accomplished knitter than I am. It looked pretty easy to me and I like you only have to buy one, albeit very large, skein of yarn.

I love making stuff for the new babies!
I have 3 more squares done. I want to wait until I have enough to bother shipping them. I am so glad the afghans are getting to their intendeds! -
Thanks Beth..I will check that out
-
Wow! One received and 2 more in the mail!! How exciting! Madison and Vickie,
You always say you couldn't do it without us..Remember, none of us could do this without the two of you!! You're the best! If it was possible, I'd suggest a afghan be sent to both of you!!
I sent both of you a box of squares today!!
Love and Hugs,
Denise -
OK...Loom knitting book...It is called
Loom Knitting Primer by isela Phelps
It seems like a good book, but I have just flipped through it so far. -
Lisa, If the Lion Brand pattern is not exactly what you'd like, I have a book with a simple basket weave pattern. It takes 18 ounces of worsted weight yarn, and a size 11 circular needle. It's an 8 row pattern with a 10 row garter stitch border on each end.
Laura -
Well you guys, I entered us all in a contest from Lion Brand. I don't know what we win, so if it is yarn or needles or hooks, we will all share in it. I will keep you all posted about it. Cross your fingers!
-
I am mailing this afghan tomorrow
Hugs, Madison -
Gorgeous as always! Thanks for all your hard work.
-
wow madison..that is wonderful..I love it
-
I am actually going to mail out squares tomorrow. After all this time of trying to learn to crochet my dd learned the Knifty Knitter and we have cranked some out! I just leaned to use it a couple of nights ago and I've worked steady at it ever since. I must say though, that I'm looking forward to learning how to make the turns to crochet. I prefer doing the crochet whereas my dd prefers the knitter. Anyway, we've got pretty, bright colored ones i'm splitting between Vicki and Madison. If I can finish a couple more tonight then I think we'll have 40 total.
Liz, thank you sooo much for the CD that I received today. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but i plan to tomorrow.
