I recently received my MRI results but do not receive my pets can for 2 more days. I was wondering if anyone could confirm if the cancer has spread to the internal mammary and the anterior mediastinal lymphnodes would this be considered distant and stage IV?

I believe regional lymph nodes include axillary, internal mammary, supraclavicular and intramammary. Any of those would be stage 3 afaik.

I'm not sure about the mediastinal. I hope someone who's more knowledgeable chimes in soon .

I wanted to welcome you to our community. I hope you stick around - so many knowledgeable & supportive people here. Whichever way the staging goes, it's a scary and uncertain time for you. Hugs.

I’m sorry I don’t know much about the medastinal lymph nodes but I can say that scans show lots of things, some benign, some suspicious but only a biopsy can confirm for sure. Also, we’d need to see the report or have the specific wording used, many of us lifers have gotten good at scan interpretation.

Great responses from a great community.

We'd need to do some research, but this may help you better understand staging: Staging
