Aloha everyone,

I am 43 years old - just diagnosed with brain mets. Originally treated for breast cancer in 2009. It has returned in bones, lymph nodes and brain. Oncologist is recommending whole brain radiation therapy as first treatment. She said I have too many tumors for SRS. I am scheduled for consult with radiation oncologist next week.

I would really appreciate hearing your experiences with this treatment and side effects. Good and bad.

Any advice on what to ask doctors?

I currently live in Hawaii (originally Colorado girl), and we have limited options here. So I am willing to fly to receive treatment elsewhere. My local oncologist is seeking a second opinion from Duke Cancer Institute, Center for Brain & Spine Metastasis. Any other places you all recommend?

Thank you so much. And of course, I am terrified and sad!

Natalie

    Thanks!
