Herceptin and Perjeta

I've just been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to my liver and bones. My treatment plan is to have Abraxane with Herceptin and Perjeta. I'm on my second cycle. My oncologist is being very positive and expects to see shrinkage by the third cycle. So far I have had no symptoms from any of the treatment which makes me a bit nervous that it is even working! Has anybody been on these antibodies for a long time and seen good results that can give me some hope. I have a newborn baby at home and the thought of leaving her when she is so little is unbearable.

That was my combo too and it worked great but the effects are cumulative, so it’s likely to hit you later. I did my 1st 5k on chemo but by the end, my nails were a mess and everything tastes so gross. I suspected the same early on thinking this was too easy but I did eventually have those issues. I’m still doing H&P every 3 weeks without problems and although brain mets were discovered after my initial treatment, I’m still doing pretty well. Feel free to reach out if you have questions.

I am on H&P. Started with paclitaxel as well in March. Just stopped the paclitaxel and will stay on H&P until I have progression or the side effects are unmanageable. I have friend who did 5 years then decided to stop and has been stable for another 2 years. So that good news.

    Best wishes to you

I did six months Taxol with H&P and now continue with H&P. My experience is similar to what Illi Mae said. I tolerated the taxol very well, no neuropathy (I used the frozen slippers and gloves) but by the end my nails were a mess and getting infected and I was glad it was over.

My breast tumor did start shrinking with the third treatment, my first scan during chemo could not detect it and I was NED at six months.

I am doing quite well now, my echo cardio grams have all been normal and the only side effects I have are fatigue and some joint stiffness from the anastrozole I am on.

It has now been 2 years and 11 months since my diagnosis.

H&P work really well for many of us. Hoping it does for you too!

That’s good news Olma! I am also nead after three rounds of taxol & H&p. Continuing on with H&P.
