I am so glad you are home! Please get lots of rest and don't try to do too much. Remember... accept help!

Sentinal, schmentinal node... They are there to trap those nasty cancer cells... looks like it did it's job!

Please know I'm thinking of you and sending lots of hugs!

So glad to hear that the surgery went well and she's already home! She said she would be, but i was thinking she'd get groggy and kick back. Well NOT! That's determination! You go, Gina! Despite the positive sentinel node, it's gotta feel good to have gotten those nasty boobs gone and to be getting new, perky, HEALTHY ones in their place!

G - I just read your original post and my heart sank. Oh honey - I am so sorry you are going through this again. I'm so glad the surgery went well and I will keep reading this post, in hopes of more updates on how you are doing.

For now, I'm sending you love, lots of gentle hugs (as Shirley says) and prayers for a speedy recovery from your surgey.

    With love,

    Ladies-

I just wanted to let you all know that i have a button making machine and I am making buttons that say

    NO SURRENDER

If you would like one to wear in support of Gina while she is once again fighting the beast just PM me your mailing address and I would be happy to send you one.

Several people have asked to send some money...please don't. These are inexpensive to make and it is something I want to do. All I ask is that you wear the button and think of NS. If you pray, pray for her. If you have a digital camera you could take a photo of you wearing the button and post it for her to see your support.

SO...send me your address and I will send the button ASAP

    Hugs

    Hello everybody!
I am sorry I haven't been here. I have had some complications. I have LE in both hands and can't really type and have had two drain emergencies and have a lot of pain sitting up right with my arms in this position to type or read.
But I am home- got home less than 24 hours after the surgery started. I was in surgery for 8 hours and didn't get out of recovery until 1 am.
I don't recommend doing this surgery on only tylenol. This has been a little tough! Esp. when the nurse kept forgetting to bring it to me and I only got my first dose at 5:30 am.
I have a positive sentinel node- no scratch that- i HAD a positive sentinel node. I have no nodes and no breasts now so I am praying we got it all.
I will come back when I can sit up longer to type and read. THANK YOU for your love and prayers.
I felt each and every one of them.
    Love you,
    g

    G,
Welcome back! I'm so sorry that it hasn't been going smoothly for you. You don't seem to be catching any breaks. Hopefully all your breaks with come with the pathology report - fingers are crossed that everything you hear is better than you expected. In the meantime, your job is to rest & take care of yourself, accept all the help and care that is available to you, and know that we are all here thinking about you.

    Gina,
It's so good to see your pretty, little, black kitty back. I so wish I could take all of your pain away. What happened to the pain ball? Did it not work out?
Continuing my prayers for you, especially for negative nodes and LE that goes far, far away.

    Take Care Sister,

Thank you all so much. I am not wrapped right now so I am sneaking in a little typing. Wrapping by yourself bilaterally is not easy- either is changing the dressings!

My dad came to stay with me the first couple of nights and he was a godsend.

I was discharged the day after the surgery- there was no way I was going to stay any longer. I don't know what my night nurse's problem was but I was wheeled into my room from recovery after 1 AM and she didn't seem too happy to see a new patient. She pulled my OnQ pump out "to inspect it" and messed up the way it worked, yanked on the foley so hard I was seeing stars and then when I was supposed to get my first tylenol- the only thing I was taking for pain- at 2 AM - she didn't bring it to me until 5:30 AM! I think they like it better when post surgical patients are passed out from pain meds and not wide awake like me!

My PCP came to see me in the morning and told me that the sooner I can get out the better because there was an influenza outbreak in the hospital. I told her I wasn't planning on staying!

My surgeon then came in to give me the bad news about the sentinel node. When he first came in I said to him that I didn't know what the big deal was about how much better a sentinel node biopsy was because it was hurting me as much as the full axillary dissection I had on my left side five years ago. Then he said that it WAS a full axillary dissection because the sentinel was positive. I felt a little sick then. We supposedly caught this very early- and it was er+ and it spread to the nodes in a matter of a couple of months???
Well I will deal with that when the full path comes in.

My dad took me home and then went out to buy a bunch of things from the bakery "for me". I was not really very into eating but I did notice that every time I turned around he had a pastry in his mouth! I am glad he came because it was tough those first days.

The pain is bad and the tylenol is about as effective as taking M&Ms. I would kill for an advil but I can't because of the bleeding.

I just took my first shower so now I have to wrap my arms again. I pray this bilateral LE isn't forever!

You all have been the best. I really cannot tell you how much your posts have meant.

And don't worry. I may be a bit beaten up right now but I still plan on kicking butt and taking names just as soon as I can swing my arms!

    Love,
    g

Darn, Gina, so sorry you are having these problems. Boy it sucks not being able to take a pain pill when one needs it.

You shoulda been swinging those arms at that stupid nurse! Oh, that just makes me so angry! NO, MAD!

Hang in there. (yep, we know you will). Hope you are getting some rest.

Sounds like you're kicking butt already. I know I felt like a train wreck after surgery, and perhaps you do too. Thankfully, it all gets better as things heal. The best part of all this is you're no longer lugging around a bunch of tumors. May they be gone and stay gone this time.

    (((Gina)))

I feel so bad that you have to go through all of this again. I wish there was something I could do to make it all go away. I do know that you are a wise, strong lady who has a heck of a way with words! I can picture your dad with the pastries because my dad would have been the same way (sweet tooth!!) Rest up, get well and know that we are all with you whenever you need us!
