MARY--MARY--MARY-- YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! That's GREAT news. My doctors all know that I have allergic reactions to drugs, but this specific one has just started to cause problems. The last time I took it I had to actually stop half way thru the treatment because I got such adverse effects. It's making it harder and harder for them to help me when I really get sick because usually they just see if I can last it out and antibiotics are the last resort. There are only at this point 2 antibiotics that don't cause me to go into anaphylactic distress. I had to go into the hospital a couple of times so they could give the antibiotics slowly through an IV and monitor my breathing. LOTS of fun!!! Anyway, I took my last pill on last night and I'm feeling pretty good. I actually have my voice all the way back for the first time in 2 weeks. It's nice to be able to talk again. I see my oncologist on Friday so I figure he always checks my lungs so he'll know if I still have a touch of anything bad. It's so nice here that all the snow is melting and GUESS where the water is going??? YUP--I've got the sump pumps in the basement back in action. Sigh, moan, gripe--oh well--this means that Spring is probably here so that's good. It's supposed to be 60 above tomorrow. Guess I'll have to dig out my T-shirts!! Well, better get some work done around this messy house. I want to go to Plentywood and see my mom after the onc. appt on Friday because I'll be about a third of the way up there when I get to Glendive so I'll just keep going and spend the weekend with my brother and family. I talked to my Mom on her birthday the 25th, but it just wasn't the same as actually seeing her. Bye for now--Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Hey thanks girls. The Dr. yesterday said all my symptoms are from the thyroiditis I have very bad. He said a virus probably brought it on and I remember I had 3 bad sore throats (my Dr. was gone and I couldn't get in and get meds.)last fall. They were one after another so thats probably it. Well this has to clear up on it's own and it can take a few months to sometimes a year. I have to get into an indoctrinologist to get my meds. switched to another brand or what ever. The Dr. said my med. doesn't seem to be working as it should. I have told my Doc. I didn't think the Levoxyl was good and I wanted Synthroid. Oh well. I will get fixed now, after I get home from Az. I am packing today. I can't find all my summer clothes.I am getting a little anxious because I know I have some I don't see and I just don't know where I packed them away for winter. I don't need them now but I want to find them now, now that I don't see them I need to know where they are. Nancy, thats awful about the meds. I had an itching reaction to levaquin and it made me feel like a monkey scratching my head then my face then my legs. You poor thing, that has to be horrible. Thanks for the well wishes guys. I feel so good just knowing this is not my nerves because I have always been very stable nerve wise and handled things as they come. I thought I was loosing my mind. I felt it was physical and not mental but I was getting to the point that maybe if I was nervous I would not realize it. This would come on when I wasn't upset about anything and then when I was nervous about something I didn't get this so I was really perplexed. I am o.k. now, the tightness and swallowing trouble and hoarsness is all my thyroid infection. I guess you just have to push sometimes. Well Janie, we are waiting for your good news. Good vibes girlfriend. P.J. do you need me to get you the exit number for Steak and Shake? Well I better get so everyone have a great day. Mary

Actually, Mary, it would be helpful to get the exit number. I have a friend who's driven through there, but every bit of not-getting-lost help helps. I'm so jazzed about the trip, and the warming trend.

Janie, how was your stuff today?

Nancy, may the itching stop soon....

P.J. I have to run up there tomorrow so I will get the #. I know it is the East Lake drive exit but I will get the#. You will be a block off 55 so you will not waste much time getting off or back on. If you miss it there is another exit right down the way you can get off on. The weather is going to get up to 60 and hopefully that happens. We never know here. I did p.m. my cell number didn't I? Hey Janie, hows it going? I hate the waiting game. I will be waiting for good news. Nancy, hope the itching is going away. Later, Mary

Well, since my last Levaquin was Monday night--I just have a little bit of itchiness on my back. I think that the monkey description is probably pretty close to the truth. I have these archways in my house and the sides of the arches have square edges so I stand there and rub my back on them. It feels SO good--I even went and got the shower brush down and used it to scratch all over!! Once when I had a wicked reaction in the hospital this nurse told me to scratch the palms of my hands and not where it really itched because the body can be fooled into thinking that you're scratching where it itches!! Now at the time I thought she was full of crap and I laughed, but sometimes it really does take some of the itchiness away to scratch my palms. Who knows??? Well, I gotta go back to the basement and pump a few more gallons out before I go to bed. We had 9 under 2 at the daycare today and a couple of them were in VERY bad moods. Made for lots of crying and frayed nerves for the caregivers. I was in and out a lot being the director so I missed LOTS of it. Sometimes it's nice being the boss. I came home in the middle of the day and turned on the pumps and watched a soap opera and ate some chicken. That was a nice break. Hope everyone else had an interesting day too--Bye for now--Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Hey ladies. Sorry to be so late getting back. I was up late last night and had to get up at 5:30 this morning so I crashed when I got home and took a really long nap.

Surprisingly, the radiologist came in and talked to me. He says I have a lot of calcifications and it is sometimes hard to differentiate but he does not think anything is there; however, he wants the doctor to keep an eye on it. so it is good news. I would prefer a clean bill of health but will take what I can get. The onc will talk to me more about it Monday. The radiologist asked me if I noticed any changes myself. Since I just had follow-up surgery not that long ago, it is really hard for me to say because of course there have been changes.

Mary, hope it doesn't take a whole year for you to get straightened out, but glad the news was good. Nancy, my leg is breaking out and itching like it did when I was on Taxol, so it must be a reaction to something. Let's just take turns scratching.

Thanks for all your support girls. I will take a side by side chocolate butterscotch shake.

Gosh, good news so far Janie. I have some cal. deposits too. I know they just mentioned them a couple years ago and said no problem but since bc Dr. always lets me know he is watching them. Gosh, it makes me feel my boobs are pretty important with so many people watching and feeling them up. They have never had so much attention. Hey Janie I saw where a man in Ga. won half the $380 million lottery. I did buy a ticket since the Dr. said I should but hey my luck ain't that good and I knew it but what the hey. (I never play). Anyhew, I was thinking this a.m. you are in the "market" sorta speak and this guy in your neck of the woods has all this money and needs someone to help him spend it well, there you go girlfriend . Well I have to get grandson to school so later little ladies. Mary

Janie, YEA that it looks like it's nothing to worry about. Glad you got in a well-deserved nap. I like Mary's idea of you hooking up with the new multimillionaire. You could do some great traveling.

Have a good one girls. Tomorrow starts my vacation. I guess I'll have to start packing since we leave the next morning.

I didn't notice if he is single or not. He is 52...a spring chicken. Maybe he could even keep up with me. I doubt it. He was on the news last night. He went to McDonald's to celebrate last night.

Yeah, they said the white spots that show up as calcifications look a lot like tumors, but the radiologist did not think there was that much of a change since the last time.

You all have a great trip.

Wow Janie, Mc Donalds. Now that guy knows how to paartae. Ah, 52, 42, 22, its just numbers. Gosh, ya know, my hubby use to have great abs and muscles too back when he was 22. Yea o.k. my as# didn't bounce off the back of my knees either back then but thats not the point. I was just thinking out loud. P.J. take exit 94 on the right. It will say East lake drive and something else, at the top of the off ramp take a right and go to the 2nd. stop light after you turn which is Dirksen Pkwy. and take a right and you will see Stake and Shake on the right in front of the Drury Inn. Sunday night traffic will be light. Goodnight little Junebugs. Mary

Tomorrow I'll be on the road too. First to work for the morning and then to Glendive to see my oncologist and make some medical appts for April and then up the road to Plentywood. It RAINED here today. I was supposed to run up to Glendive tonight for a Relay for Life meeting, but the rain was starting to freeze on the roads and I chickened out. So I'm home pumping gallons of water out of the basement because with the melting snowbanks and the rain combined--it had about 6 inches by the time I got home. Well, I didn't get a chance to run home in the middle of the day today and I'd been away for 14 hours so......I wonder how deep it will be by Sunday by the time I get home from Plentywood. Maybe I should just skip the oncologist and the visit north all together and stay home to pump water out of the basement. I think my doctors would take a dim view of me putting this off for another month, but we shall see....Gotta pack in case I do go. Nite--Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

How exciting! Mary and PJ finally meet! Have enough fun for all of us girls. No, Mary. I am afraid the referrals will not be whittled down until sometime near the end of school. I am also contracting with another county during our inter-session in order to help make a dent in all the extra medical / dental bills. Where is that lotto winner when I need him? Hey Nancy. Can you tread water? Everybody have a great next few days.

Nancy - 60 degrees must feel like a heat wave. Glad you are having a good time. Hope the meeting with the onc was good strange and not bad strange. I see mine tomorrow but the radiologist has pretty much clued me in already. I do need to remember to get a lymphedema clinic appointment. I wish they would hurry and get the laser treatment or SOMETHING going for that.

Mary, PJ when are you meeting? How exciting!

Today is my 3 year anniversary! Hurray! I have heard that two years out is really good so three years must be even better. The HER2 forum has a thread where ladies have had differing opinions from their oncs for us who did Herceptin. One says that those of us who are HER2 positive and two years out are the same as the others who are five years out. I guess because HER2 is so aggressive, if it comes back, it will have by two years out. Others think that it is possible that the Herceptin is merely postponing the return. I guess nobody really knows because we are the pioneers.

    Have a GREAT weekend ladies!

Janie,CONGRADS!, on the 3 yr. I have an Onky apt. tomorrow so I will ask about the Her2. Good luck with yours and with all us pulling for ya, you are gonna get a good report. I have read where a persons onky has an idea when the persons cancer will return and the survival time (not exact). I have been meaning to ask but was kinda affraid to, it is based on many factors. I hope your meeting with Onk. was good news Nancy and have a good time with your bro. P.J. and I are meeting this evening. It will be nice to finally meet her. I have a pic of her and Nathan, 2 really. She sent me one way back when we first started this adventure. I haven't sent out any except to you Janie back a while because I still can't export because I haven't changed my default e-mail add. I really need to do that. I have to call a computer person to ask and I am affraid they will want to come and charge me $100.00 to do a 3 min. job. Oh well, I need to get it done. It is so warming up here. I just talked to hubby and he is on his way to Houston and it is 1/8 mile visibality with fog so I hope P.J. gets out of the airport on time. He has made up his mind that one more month and he is quitting. He took a vacation for the wk. after Easter so I am thinking of going to L. Vegas for a couple days. They have some good rates. Well we are to set the clocks up and I have not done that. Better see what time it is and if my computer needs set up. Later guys, Mary

Hey Janie, I have that happen too or I will be writting a novel and when I click continue it says my time has expired and my post is gone, I then just write a short note and am tired of writting. Well, we met at Steak and Shake and Paula is very pretty and has a beautiful smile. She just makes you feel like you have known her forever. Nathan is so cute, he has beautiful eyes! Yea, we had a great visit and I hope we get together soon for those Texas Mararitas and Janie and Nancy can join us. Don't let me have more than one or someone will be carring me home. I never know what to ask people because I am always affraid they might think I am asking too personal of questions or being nosey when I just want to get to know them. Then I think they feel I am unconcerned for not asking. Janie, am I social retentive? I just made that up from anal retentive. I don't even know exactly what retentive means but I will google it when I am done here. Mary

I never really knew an exact meaning for anal retentive, I thought it ment up tight but no, I am anal retentive. I pay too much attention to detail. I have to go on a nice long vacation. (I blame my nursing career on the paying too much attention to detail.) Yep thats me. Mary

Mary sounds like you are just super considerate of others. Ol Freud came up with some doozies. I admit it, I googled to see what you read when you googled. Did you see the one copying the Redneck version -- You may be anal if:you eat the M&Ms in color order.
you fold your dirty clothes before putting them in the hamper.
    From Miranda:
you have to have all boxes in the kitchen facing the same way and in order by size.
you have all your canned goods organized by type, flavor, and use.
and they're all facing the front.
all you books, CDs, and movies have to be alphabetical order.
you require no less than 200 threads per inch on your sheets.
...and they are tucked so tightly that you really could bounce a quarter on them.
you alphabetize your spices. ( Bert )
you actually bother trying to convince someone that the 3rd millenium hasn't begun yet (or that it *has* begun).
you organize your closet by color, season, and fabric. you flame every person who sent you email because the emails weren't spelled correctly or gramatically correct.
you remove the tires to wash inside the wheel-wells of your vehicle. (Pat)
you collect the little postcards in magazine issues...
    ...for recycling.
every e-mail reply that you send has been through a grammar checker...
...and you correct the original message.
you're on a "calorie-counting" diet and you count the calories in the hot sauce on your "Big Beef Burrito Supreme"

Well Janie, thats funny and I did not see that one. I was so surprised I was anal retentive I accidently clicked in disgust and cleared it. Gosh Janie I didn't want to hurt hubby's feelings when he would try to help with the house( he is not allowed to touch the laundry and I do not feel bad about that and he does not either after he found out how much the clothes he ruined cost) but I would go behind him when he wasn't around and put things in the right place and he caught me and said he wouldn't do things because it was a waste of his time. He also said I didn't thank him but sometimes I didn't notice because I was working 20 hours and I didn't know what I did let alone him. No one ever thanked me all those years. He is like a kid, he needs praise. Lordy, anyhow the redneck anal retentive is good. I hope I am not turning into an old lady with too much time on my hands. I bought me a fanny pack today. I use to make fun of them.......now I need one. I am always scared I will set my purse down and forget it and my shoulder is still hurting so I thought this would give me free hands while in Vegas. Oh my Lord....my daughter with 8 years of education decided to burn leaves today and didn't notice the grass is all dead(apparently she didn't take any horticulture) and her yard is full of leaves. Yea, she melted the neighbors siding on his garage. The former owners burnt it to the ground a few years ago so this wasn't so surprising for him. She burnt the privacy fence in the other neighbors yard and set her garage on fire but she got her car out and the garage is stone as her house so thank God for that but the wood foundation on the garage burnt. She also got a ticket for burning leaves on a day not legal to burn. Thats $50.00. She will get out of that, but she was a mess because she did damage to the neighbors garage and fence. When she moved in he told her not to burn down his garage and she thought he was a prude. Ha, jokes on her. What the hey was she thinking? Maybe I should rethink my rearing of that child. I know I taught her fire was hot. We do what we can with what we are given Janie. She takes after her Dad! Well I am leaving for Phx. about 8 a.m. so I will write from there. I may check in tomorrow a.m. Later, Mary

OH NO--I'm AR too! I always find myself correcting spelling and grammar in e-mails before I send them on because I don't want anyone to think that I did it wrong. I think it's the old English teacher in me. I am also going to STOP reading warnings in other forums. I just read that Aranesp can give you a stroke, blood clot or a heart attack. I've taken a ton of those shots--one just a couple of months ago for anemia. It's the only thing that brings my RBC back up to somewhat normal levels. SIGH!! I guess I'll just remember that I went to a fortune teller years ago and she said I'd die in an unusual and somewhat comic manner. I figure there's nothing funny about cancer so it's not going to get me and taking a drug from the leftover remnants of chemo isn't unusual or comic. I also took one of those online tests about how you're going to bite it and it said I'd fall off a roof or get run over by a dump truck or some other unusual way. Heh, heh, so there BC!!!!! OMG, Mary, you raised a little pyromaniac!!!!! One of my neighbors out here in the country burned down her garage a few years ago and her kids ran into the house and got marshmallows to roast!!!! I gotta go make muffins for tomorrow's breakfast at the daycare. It's Raining! Bye for now--Life is Good Smiles NancyLee
