Oh you guys are the best!!

    THANK YOU!!!

I woke up this morning with severe jitters. I think all the waiting finally hit me: the waiting is done and it is D-Day!
I have been going over every aspect of the operation in my head and it has been overwhelming.

Then it hit me. I AM NOT PERFORMING THE SURGERY! I get to sleep throught it! They will give me my marguerita IV and the next thing I know is it is all finished- completed- cancer GONE. I can't tell you what a relief that was. I really think I know too much and I am my own worst enemy at times... I MAKE myself nuts.

I had a good long look at myself in the mirror and tonight when I saw my breasts I didn't get emotional. I think it is because the tumors are so prominent now that you can see them bulging under the areola. That is enough to switch off the tears about losing them and makes me really anxious to GET THIS CANCER OUT OF ME!

My PS showed me a trick to do to see how the new ones will look. I can't do it on the cancer side because it is too painful, but if I put my finger across the nipple and fold it in, and then bring the skin up around it so the areola no longer shows, it makes the breast shape rounder and there is no nipple. So this has helped me get used to what I will look like eventually. Don't know how long it will take with the expanders, but he said he is filling them up during surgery.

I know I am going to be shaky tomorrow- I think pre-op is the most terrifying part of any surgery.

Your love and prayers and well wishes have gotten me through this. I never thought the beast would come back the way it has, or that I would switch teams and become er pos. I never thought I would get bilateral masts. I never thought a lot of things. But one thing has remained constant for me and never waivers. I ALWAYS KNOW I have my sisters to help me through anything. I get such peace from that.
Your kindness and understanding sustains me and I feel your presence. I need that so much to be strong. And you are always there providing it. How awesome and how lucky I am to have you as sisters!
    THANK YOU EVERYONE.

I will see you after it is over!!

    Love you,
    g

Thanks for keeping us posted Carrie. Great to hear surgery went well and she is wanting to go home already. She is acting like the true fighter she really is. I hope her dad can convince her let them take care of her just a little bit longer. Here is to No Surrender!

Eight hours is a long time to be in surgery and then go home the next day. She needs to stay so they can make sure she is good to go.

    Hi everyone,
I just got a call from G and she is home .Her Dad is with her. Her throat is really sore from having the tube in there for 8 hours so she could not talk long ,and is not ready to post yet but wanted me to let you know.

The bad news is her cent.node was positive so they did a full axillary disection. We don't know how many positive nodes .
Once again the Surgeon said she did very well ,and
her recon went very well too !!

She is glad to be home where she can rest better.

    Hugs,
    Carrie

Thanks a bunch for filling us in Carrie. Crap, I was hoping she didn't need the node disection. It takes a bit more to come back from, but she is tough and she will do great.

Hugs to you if you are reading Nicki

Thanks for the update and G if you're reading, I missed sx day, because of work, but I hung on to the tails of the majic carpet and watched and prayed from afar.

I haven't stopped by your blog yet, but I will.
I am watching a new show, called Wedding Belles, about wedding planners, it might add a smile to your pain killer induced "coma"

I am so glad sx went well, look at Fumi's recon board and you will see live pics from everyone here at different stages, so you know what to expect. I had a tram, wish I would have gone your route, but that is behind me now. So, I can't help w/ photos.

g, you go girl. You made it home. There's no place like home to get some rest. Sure can't do much of that in the hospital. And you will recover much sooner at home.

Hopefully only the sent node is postitive. Sorry to hear they had to do a node dissection.

Hey, before you know it you'll have boobs again!

Rest, rest and heal. Let others help.

You're in my thoughts and prayers.
