sending you positive and healing thoughts... you can do this!
I know the fear, I'm still afraid to speak of my treatment as something in the past, I'm somehow afraid to mis-judge my situation. My tumor was in a 6x7 cm area of microcalcifications and maybe smaller tumors besides the 4 cm tumor I had. I also did neoadjuvant chemo, had small children and suspect it all began when pregnant with my oldest. I had 4 positive lymph nodes (that we know of).
what has helped me the most is tunnelling my energy to what gives me hope. For me that is researching and "experimenting" with alternative anticancer strategies, things that are in my own power. -
dear MM how are you doing with the Counselling. I had a wonderful counsellor who had actually had breast cancer herself so she helped me enormously. I cried so much in the first three months and I was filled with terror as my kids were only 8 and 11. I remember thinking I will NEVER be able to laugh again or see the funny side of anything and I love humour..but my counsellor told me my sense of humour come back and it has.
You will find your way thru this and beyond it...believe it because it is true. You will even find great blessings along the way.
I your counsellor is helping and also a lot of people find mindfulness helps a lot although I have not tried that ...yet😃
Sending you a hug.

PS my CT scan showed 2 nodes involved but ultrasound showed at least six with cancer bursting out of some..i never found out for sure as CHEMO got rid of it all thank God.
The high number of nodes involved really really terrified me I also had an area of 10 cm involved but made up of small tumours so i understand your fear but you will find something that helps you to manage that fear it just takes a bit of time..
I hope this helps.
God bless.

FaithAndTrust- thank you for your timely response. I am finding myself feeling scared again today and have been looking for more posts about large tumors. I am in chemo now and will be done in 3 more sessions. This is a hard wait for surgery as my tumor is still exceptionally large. I can feel the contours and it bothers me to have it in my body. I had a pet scan recently that shows less activity in my tumor and node, so it sounds like chemo is doing something. I wish it would shrink though!! Can you see cancer bursting out of nodes on u/s? My lymph node measured 2.5 cm.
I'm looking forward to moving to surgery and having my tumor removed. Lymph node involvement is scary. I am wondering how many nodes will be positive after this is all done. But most of all, hoping to be around for my young children too. I'm sorry you had to go through this with kids these ages.
I like my new counselor. She has been in my shoes and is doing well now. She focuses on the things she can control and lets goof the rest. I am aiming for this attitude as well.
Hugs to you too! And I'm happy to hear you are doing well.

magnolia mom! I totally relate about wanting that thing out of your body. That’s how I felt as I waited for surgery. People thought I’d want to delay, especially bc I was pregnant, but I just wanted the tumor out. My circumstances were a little different bc they ended up doing the surgery before chemo

Hi there. I was recently diagnosed with Multifocal IDC just about a week ago. I’m terrified of having my bone scan tomorrow because of fear of metastasis. Originally I was a stage 1b, but of course now they have to assess the new masses they have found. Any encouragement would be amazing to hear. Did your bone scan turn out ok when you were originally diagnosed

I too struggle with the thought of outcomes and tumor size as mine was 3cm...but when they went un there, they quoted 6cm with chemo only hitting the 6 out of 16 infected lymph nodes.
I've read the size sometimes does not always matter. The outcomes can be just as bad if not worse, for a smaller size tumor. You just dont know.

Mine was 8cm and I had 14/31 lymphnodes positive. After surgery and chemo I had a petscan and no cancer was detected. I have tried to move past the fear and just live each day but it is very difficult. Sending hugs and prayers for all of us.
