Wrapping Up The Decade 2010 - 2019
Today marks the 9th year I've been living with metastatic breast cancer.
It's the day I found the lump in my breast and even though it took a few weeks of testing for the bone metastases to be revealed, December 22, 2010 was the day I started living with the fear, dread and unknown of this disease.
So me and mbc—almost the whole decade. I had 7 or 8 reasonably good years after diagnosis and then 2019 brought upheaval in many areas of my life. I'm doing my best to adapt to the changes, have down times but still seek out good times and look forward to a relaxing Christmas.
I appreciate this forum and the support I've had here all this time. In light of the recent controversy, I'd like to mention that I've always been a supporter of the stage four ONLY format. I feel safest that way which is important to me.
So much in life transpires over the course of a decade! I don't have any words of wisdom. I would sum up my last decade by saying, “She was fortunate, She was unfortunate."
Wishing everyone a good holiday no matter how you choose to spend it.

I hope you get many more wonderful years ahead of you!

Congratulations on 9 years, although it perhaps is more solemn than celebratory. These dates are etched into us Commemorating with you, and wishing more good years ahead. You are lovely.
-
Congratulations on your decade! I hope for the same for myself. Thanks for giving me the thought that I can do it. Thisforum has been a large support system and learning base for me. I appreciate everyone here and what they add to that support. Happy Holidays and New Year to all.
-
Divine, congratulations on your decade, and wishes for another, then another. I remember your posts giving me so much hope when I was diagnosed two years ago - thank you for sticking around the forums even when you were NED for all these years. I'm sorry 2019 has been so unkind to you, and I hope that 2020 brings back stability and peace everywhere in your life.
-
Divine my hope is that we're hearing more of your insight for years to come. Big hug.
-
Yes, I also have to express my gratitude for your posts, Divine. You were definitely one of my inspirations while I lurked here during the diagnosis and the start of treatment.
Rooting for you and wishing you many more good years to come!
Warm wishes for peace and joy during the holiday season. xo

Divine, Although things have become more complicated and difficult for you during the past year, you have continued to be an important source of support for many people on these boards. Your posts are always thoughtful, thought-provoking, and kind. Thank you for everything you do for us. I hope you will be here 10 years from now to post about the next decade.
Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

Divine- Prayers for you as you start a new decade. Makes me review over the last decade in my life. Loss of my mom. The cancer diagnosis. Loss of my career. But also the new friends that I have made--here and in person. May 2020 be kind to us all.

Thank you so much for posting! Reading your story is so uplifting for me being a newer diagnosed stage 4. I’m a de novo stage 4. Trying to have hope that I will be here 10 years from now to see my kids grow up (I’m 43 and my youngest is 11).

yes, it has been a decade of loss. We are still here And I am hoping we can be happy and pretty good QOL for a while to come. I am starting to lose friends however and hearing of more tragedies for more people I know. Perhaps that is the way it goes when you are in your 60s.
I am grateful for so much Inmy life- I suppose this disease pushed me more quickly on life’s path. Feeling pretty happy and trying to live “fuller”
Hugs to all. Happy new year.

Congrats on 10 years. You look fabulous.

9 years its amazing, and at the same time its sad that it is. Hope this new decade will bring a cure or al least longer and easier extensions of good quality years. As many here I find your posts kind, thoughtful and very helpful. Hoping 2020 will bring you back to stability and many more good years!

Well done, Divine Ms M, getting to your 9 year anniversary with this illness. Thank you for your posts, your knowledge and experience, your kindness and your curiosity in life. I hope we both have more good years. I hope your current upheaval settles down and you have your relaxing Christmas. I hope for all of us a breakthrough that makes cancer just an annoying, treatable disease that we can take care of and forget. Merry Christmas or Solstice, or whatever you and your loved ones celebrate. Peaceful and happy New Year.
-
Congratulations on 10 years with mets Mrs. M! It can be a tough slog I know, there are days.
Glad to see your wisdom here and bright cheery face even if you're not particularly feeling it that day.
I'm 12 years overall but only 5 ½ with mets and like you have had an up and down year. But one foot in front of the other. For all of us, i wish us many more years with new treatments coming along to help.
relax, feet up! merry christmas!
cheers, dee
