My cats love their little stuffed mice. The bat them around like hockey pucks, and carry them from place to place in their mouths. I occasionally find one in my bedroom slipper or by their food dish like an offering.

BLMike gorgeous Shiela, lucky her lucky you, meant to be for each other.

Changed my user pic to the one I took of the boys on their 1st Christmas in our home.

They loved Christmas time. We could never put wrapped gifts under the tree. Charcoal used to try to unwrap them.

Hi everyone!
I need your expert (or should I say ex-purr-t) opinions on cat litter. What brand is your favorite? The litter we’ve tried on our new shelter adopted has been too dusty and makes her (and us) sneeze. I also think she is showing her displeasure by pawing it out of the box or she’s just a messy kitty. We tried a bigger box with deeper sides but the behavior continues. Thanks for taking the time to read/respond!
-
You may also just have a litter flinger.
I've got two myself. We've mitigated it a bit by using storage bins as litter boxes--we cut out an opening similar to what you see in store-bought litter boxes. But since they are storage bins, the sides are taller which helps.
-
I’ve seen covered litter boxes in pet stores.

I use the clumping sand you can buy in bulk from Petco. My cats love it. Before I used pine pellets which I liked (no smell; environmental, compostable) but they prefer the sand. They are so fussy about a clean box! Clumping sand is the best for this.
One of my kitties is an idiot, where burying is concerned. She will paw the side of the box, the floor outside the box, the nearby wall, etc trying to "bury" her poop and none of her frantic action brings any sand anywhere. (Dim!) I'll hear the "wipe wipe wipe" sound going on and on, so I'll go look and there she is completely not getting it about moving sand. I've shown her what to do since kittenhood but she is truly bad at it. The other kitty is a perfect bury-er.

We use Tidy Cats unscented, lightweight litter. We're getting to the age where getting 35 lbs up the stairs is not easy. It has to be unscented for me.
One of mine does the paw everywhere rather than covering it up. I think some of the problem is that her litter isn't deep enough. Our foster cat is old and makes no attempt to cover anything up.

Mr. Grady checking the garden for varmits! 😻😹
-
Here's our litter solution--IKEA kids play tent with the two storage bins as litter boxes.
-
Please bring Mr Grady over, I saw a snake in my yard yesterday 😡.

Ther is low dust litter available where I live. Generally heavier clay litters have less dust, but get a really heavy one and as Wren says it can be a heavy haul. And if you get the really cheap heavy stuff (got a free bag of this once) it is NOT nice, goes hard like air dried pottery clay and is difficult to scoop out - there is a balance to be struck. Definitely worth trying a smallish bag or two of different types 'til you hit on the purrfect kind.

my god ed3 you are the Einstein of cat litter!!!

Grady is a great hunter!! We find dead “catches” in the driveway almost daily.....including a snake last weekend!! Occasionally he sneaks one into the house but at least they are not alive!!
-
Cats aren’t supposed to run free around here. Supposed to be leashed, same rules as dogs. And I haven’t seen many, the coyotes will get the few that are loose. Dumb people.
-
thanks for the litter tips, everyone! Love the setup you have, edj3!

“I'm part of this packwhether you guys like it or not.

Princess and Grace are watching me run around the house doing housework and going “Oh Crap! Fall is coming, Mom’s changing the curtains! Run for your lives!”
-
Rah2464, Thanks!! These animals are our primary source of entertainment!! BTW, Grady found ME in our parking lot, not the other way around. He was starving, full of fleas and filthy. He was about 7-8 weeks old and once we got him defleaed, clean and fed he took over the house!

-
Micmel, how stinking cute is he??? Always makes me want another kitten.....unfortunately they are only kittens for a minute and become cats for many years. I love my cat (and those that preceded him) but puppies and kittens just make me always feel warm and happy inside. 😻😻

That kitten is adorable and I love his little murder mittens!
