Hi All....

Does anyone know if the number of positive lymph nodes directly relate to your prognosis....as in your expected survival time

I hope not. As with mine I probably should have been dead by now ! I do not think so . From what I gathered what matters is tour response to treatments - how good it is and for how long it continues.

Piggibacking onto the question- has anybody noticed enlargement of lymph nodes which are not lighting up on PET? In my case I can feel neck and inguinal lymph nodes enlarged with a little discomfort occasionally from inguinal node but they did not seem to have any activity in them on PET. So I am wondering whether it is my super efficient immune system making all those T Lymphocytes, undetected yet progression or another condition ...

If you're an early stage patient, the answer is yes. The more lymph nodes positive, the higher the chance you'll eventually have mets.

Once you have mets? I have no idea. People get mets in all sorts of places, I don't know if one soft tissue place is better or worse than another.

her stats says she is metastatic. Different soft tissues have different issues I guess but here the question was about a number of lymph nodes related to a soft tissue - a bit different and I myself would be curious to know.

When you use one of those predictor computer models it does matter. The model I used only went up to 9 positive nodes- I had many more and was bilateral- so other than telling me my risk was higher there were no numbers that related to my situation. My RO tried to deny treatment because of my high number of positive nodes- I got the treatment anyway and am still here after 8 years- but, did get metastatic disease after 5 years. I still think that it is a crap shoot- lots of people not doing well with no positive nodes.
