I am so very sorry to share the news that Ann Donovan, known as Agness on Inspire, has passed away. There were so many things that made Ann extraordinarily special: she was a devoted mother of two boys, a gifted artist, an outspoken champion for the homeless, and a determined petitioner in Washington for Right to Try legislation.

What struck me most among all of Ann's considerable achievements was her determination to research and outmaneuver the very worst aspect of MBC - being diagnosed with Leptomeningeal Metastases (LM). LM is exceptionally difficult to treat and carries the worst prognosis of all metastatic sites. Ann countered LM from all angles - from devising her own blend of therapeutic drugs and persuading her medical team to administer them - all the way through following a special diet. If I recall correctly, she lived with LM for at least 3 years, which is triple the norm, and much of her quality of life was excellent.

Ann willingly shared information and encouragement with others, and was greatly respected and deeply loved by many.

Ann's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, and her memory will be a perpetual blessing.

I am so deeply sorry for this loss, I know she is no longer in any pain, and that her family realizes how amazing she was. What a powerful force! Rest In Peace amazing woman. I'm so sorry for the loss of such-a needed pioneer, in this world that people could look to for hope.

May she fly free, .....of cancer.

Ann and I never communicated, but I have read her posts. She had intelligence, determination and grit. I hate this disease! My heart goes out to her sons, and all of her family and friends.

A true pioneer and champion for those of us with brain mets. In many ways she wrote the rule book when it comes to advocating for ourselves and pushing for more treatment options.

    RIP Ann
