Madison, I did not get to the PO today but promise to go by it Tues AM on my way to work. We had 4-5" of snow here Sunday. I am SICK SICK SICK of winter. The box is already sealed and addressed, contains 12 knitted squares. I am actually finished with all my odds/ends of yarn so I'm yarn shopping later this week I guess. I have a hankering for pastels, I guess that's spring fever. -- Donna in VA

    Good Morning
I have 1 box packed with 8 squares and another almost full. Where should I send them? I still need addresses. Can I also send a donation to help with postage to send out the completed afghans? That has got to be expensive.
I have been having so much fun doing this. Can't wait to have my squares included in one of these beautiful afghans.
    Morning hugs to all.

Hi Sue...I sent you a pm with my address.
Madison...do you have enough squares for number 3?
I have enough to finish number 2 but not enough for the 3rd...almost but not quite.
I will try to post number 2 tonight or tomorrow morning before sending it...the flu has me down and out!
    Love to all

Vickie, I don't have enough for a third afghan. I will count when I get home tonight. I received some really cool squares from Lisa in the mail yesterday. I have 3 rows on the next afghan finished...just had to take a break last night 'cause the old thumb was not happy with me.

Lisa, thank you so much. I am going to run a border around your squares and start incorporating them in the afghan.

I just want to repeat myself here.....

You are all the greatest and this project has meant so much to myself and to Vickie. It is so much fun to work with all the different squares because each is unique, as we are unique, but we are all bound by the same need to help and give comfort and love....

    Love to all, Madison

Sheri...it is up to you. Looks like we are both running short for the third afghan.
Sue...it only cost me 6.13 to mail the afghan priority mail so it isn't an issue and I had a 10.00 donation so I still have money left over from that. If ANYONE wants to join in and needs yarn...please...let me know....I would be more than happy to send you yarn!!! I want NO one left out for lack of funds. I have quite a stash...believe me!!!
    Your all the best

I agree with Vickie, If you need yarn, let us know....If you need instructions, let us know.

Also, my offer to send a "How To Crochet" book to ANYONE is still open. Let me know.....I have misplaced books, bought new ones, then found my old ones, that I have many, many books available.

Vickie---I will be in Ithaca next Thursday and Friday (I think). Can I pick up some yarn? Found out my crochet "chops" are back online after the thumb surgery and I'm royally sick of making yellow, red, green and blue squares. I'll take some of yours off your hands.

Trying to stop at Wal Mart to get some of that variagated yarn Lisa has been using but my life has been consumed by the "left my husband and everybody is upset and furious" drama taking place at my house! Oh, by the way, can you drop everything and help me take stuff over to my new apartment? By the end of the day I need a tranquilizer and I'm not the one who left!

I'm on my way...I'll bring some Xanex lollipops and we can sit in the nearest bar, in the darkest corner with our drinks and lollipops...how does that sound!

Ripping out the second square..again. Now instead of getting bigger as I go they're tapering & getting smaller. My brain knows what to do but it doesn't make it all the way to my fingers, kinda like my not being able to type anymore. But hey girls, I am givin this crochet thing a heck of a try.

Vickie, what does FORCE stand for? Is it something to do with breast cancer? Are we usually affiliated with it? And what is being asked for us to do?

I'm asking Vickie. Cos yu so smart!

FORCE is a nonprofit organization for women with increased risk of cancer due to family history and genetic status, and for members of families in which a BRCA mutation may be present.

Interesting question. I am participating in American Cancer Society Relay for Life and I wondered about asking for donations on the board. I decided against it because many of us participate in fund raising events for ACS or Susan G. Komen, or even BC.org. We wouldn't be able to keep up with the number of afghans needed. It would get to be drudgery instead of a giving with a joyful spirit. I'd rather limit it to giving to people.

    just my $.02

Hi girls, I'll be mailing squares in the next day or two. Do you want me to split them up? Also, I will be more than happy to send someone/anyone yarn if you want to participate. My mom has lots she hasn't been using and they always have it on sale here. Just send me a PM with your address.

Hi to all and a note to Vickie and Madison!

Just split up my squares and boxed them up! 11 for each of you. Quite an assortment of colors, hope that is okay. I bought several skeins of yarn last Thursday and have gone through most of it!!!!!! Good excuse to stop and get some more tomorrow!
Anyhow, I am mailing both of you the squares first thing Wed. morning! (tomorrow)
    You are so special!

Although I would like to make something for everyone's cause, I think the idea here was to make these for sisters here that need an extra "hug" from us. I would rather see them go to people we know...Not that other causes are not worthy, just not what we started this for...Just my opinion

    Hi All,

I just counted my squares.....and have only 6 for my next afghan.....Oh good, I do see that more squares on the way....Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I did purchase some new yarn and, if I have time, will make some more squares.

Denise, an assortment of colors is great...I told my hubby that I was closing my eyes, putting my hand on a square AND that was the next square in the afghan. It will indeed be an assortment of everyone's colors and design.

Vickie and Madison: Once of the reasons your short of squares for the 3rd afghans, is because I have 16 squares ready to mail, and another 10 squares I dont like too much. So I best get off my butt and start mailing some of them.

My vote, if Im allowed one cause I havent sent you any squares yet, it with Deb and Susan. Send them to someone who needs their spirit lifted.

Cheri...I didn't know what FORCE was either so not so smart here either...ppfftt!
I have the afghan almost ready to mail...weaving in the ends as we speak...I have number three started and anxiously awaiting you squares. Sound like me and Madison have about the same number of squares so splitting them should work out really well...then we can get more made and faster! woohoo!
Thanks to you all...your the best!

Vickie, I have 2 more rows to stitch, then put the rows together..

I have started closing my eyes and picking the next square. I am getting over my "pattern phobia"......

The squares are all so wonderful....keep them coming...
    Thank you, thank you,
    Love, Madison

I was just wondering how we are going to put in our suggestions for someone to get one of the afghans. Do we PM Vickie or Madison? I agree now that I see the big picture that going outside of the community here would be getting us all bogged down with making more squares and then it might become like work. Besides, how do you decide which organization is more worthy than the next?

I am babysitting my 4 year old grandson for the next couple days and while he naps I have been making use of the down time. I knitted one and it looks so different than crochet! Thank you Lisa for sharing your pattern idea. It worked out very nicely.

Squares are on the way. Mailed them this morning. Half to Madison and Half to Vickie. 2 or 3 days and you should have them. (That is if Madison's MailMan has come off his Mardi Gras Schedule!)
Went directly from the post office to the yarn store!! Can't help it, I'm hooked.(no pun intended!)
