Lisa, that's lovely!
-
socallisa..that’s an amazing photo!! Gorgeous... what kind of camera did you use for that? I have a Fuji for long range....
-
socal..is your photo from near the Botanical garden in Balboa Park?
I saw this quote on the Balboa Park website and I think your image visualizes this quote.
-
yes, it was in Balboa Park 😄I use a Canon SX70HS camera..this was close by
-
Great eye, love the contrast between purple and dark background.
-
-
Bandwoman...Glad to see you back taking lovely pics and have some downtime before returning to mom care.
-
Thanks Magic. I am leaving in a couple of days and will be visiting my family for nine days. I hope to have some camera time there but not sure. "The butterfly is a flying flower." I like that! They are magical whatever you call them.
Enjoying everyone's pics.
Cathy, how are you doing?
Lisa, I took some lotus flower pics just yesterday but it was from a long distance so they didn't look as beautiful as yours. They were just beginning to blossum so more lily pads than flowers.
-
Here are a couple of pics from a nature center near my Mom's. I didn't have my usual long lens but I tried out my zoom lens on hummers for the first time I think. I wish I would have time to go back with my long lens but I don't think that is going to happen.
The window created some cool reflections.
I think the male is saying hey would you like to go out with me???
-
I spent time in my happy place in June (Grand Tetons/Yellowstone) and finally got to see grizzlies up close
This guy was scratching his back on a phone pole
-
Wow... those are beautiful photos of the hummingbird birds and the bears.... the bears seem to be very close to the camera ... a little scary... you are all such wonderful photographers here !!!!!
-
Thanks, April! It was a really long lens and a very close crop of the photo, so I was in a safe zone taking the picture

Bandwoman & clickchick….ahaaa!
-
ClickChick, nice pics. I guess those telephone poles serve more than one purpose!! Have you done anymore night time classes. I think I remember you doing a Milky Way shoot over Crater Lake possibly.
Thanks April and Magic. Just having time to get out and take pictures is my happy place.
-
wow, those bears are unbelievable. I just love it.
Nancy good catch. Hard to get hummingbirds in flight. I took this at rest this morning in our yard
-
that cute hummingbird looks like it’s looking right at you!!
-
I just took another look at those grizzly bears and wow they look very well fed!!!
-
Lovely animal photos, ladies!!
I'm over my cold. I'm still struggling with all the things that I can't tell my sister and all the things she won't get to see or hear about, even though I believe she's in a better place now. Thanks for asking how I am, Nancy. How are you doing?
-
Lisa, such a cute little hummer. What kind is that? We basically have only the ruby throated. My feeder at my house is not good for picture taking unfortunately but good for the hummers to feel protected.
-
😊 magiclight
Thank you Lisa!
April, yes it was hard to believe they're that chubby and they are eating those tiny flowers. Guess they must have bigger meals in between
Thanks, Bandwoman and yes, I did post a night photo once! Haven't done much of that lately, but took this within the last 2 years in Saguaro National Park, AZ. BTW, love your and Lisa's hummers
-
click, that’s beautiful! it looks like a painting !
-
Thanks, April!!
-
Cathy, I know you have had a rough time. I hope you are feeling better healthwise. It is going to take time to find your new normal without your twin sister. Praying for you.
Nancy

Click,
Wow. Love that night photo. So beautiful.
I just got back from the nature center and I had hurried to visit with my long lens before going out to visit with my Mom. The long lens would NOT work. Sigh. I have no idea why but something was causing an error in my camera so I just used the same lens as the other day. Oh well. I'll have to take it in and see what the camera shop thinks.
-
Thanks, Nancy. I do have some health issues going on like reflux but it's bearable. I agree it's a huge adjustment to be without my sister. Thanks for your prayers.
I'm sorry your long lens didn't work and I hope you can get it seen to soon and it's okay. Blessings, Cathy
-
Thanks, Bandwoman! I hope it's a quick, easy fix for your long lens.
-
I figured out what was wrong with my long lens after I got back home. I had a feeling it might me something simple and it was. I had even tried out the lens before leaving and it was fine. I must have hit this tiny little unlock switch which was very hard to see. So I am glad I don't have an expensive repair. Will I have time to go back with this lens. Tomorrow is my last day to visit my Mom before going home on Friday so I'll have to see. This is the only time I get to experiment on hummingbirds and try different settings so I want to learn as I am here but there is never enough time.
This hummer was taken with a long zoom lens but it doesn't have the reach that my long lens does so it is cropped quite a bit which is causing some noise (grainyness) which I don't like.
-
I'm so glad it wasn't an expensive repair. That's great!!
-
Found this little sloth right on our birding trail this week in Panama.
-
mum!
Good to see you..imagine seeing a sloth not at a zoo! Are you ever home?
