Stage IV reoccurrence & Proton therapy

Hi sunny life, I have not had proton therapy but I wanted to give you an answer - if you search the board you may find some who have had proton. It isn't commonly used for breast cancer but it's probably recommended for you because of the location in your sternum, which is close to the heart. Proton beam radiation is very targeted and there will be less risk of the beam hitting the surrounding areas which includes your heart, lungs etc.

I got proton rads for my TNBC left sided cancer (in lieu of regular rads). I chose proton because it seems to have fewer risks of tissues being radiated that are not being targeted. For example, Protons can be programmed to STOP. They do not pass through your body , through your lung, and out your back... they stop at the chest wall.

I went to Procure in NJ and was thrilled with them. VERY nice people, very efficient and a beautiful. healing environment.

Most of the people there had more serious cancers. Lots of unresectable tumors. Some children there too. I was grateful to be there and grateful for my relatively uncomplicated situation.
