Traveling while on Ibrance and Fulvestrant

I'm just starting my second cycle of Ibrance and fluvestrant and I'm thinking of taking short flights that are not more than 3 hours long.

Has anyone done this with metastasis to lung near airway or in multiple lung areas?

I have no experience with Ibrance, but have made many flights to and from Europe while on fulvestrant for mets in various areas of both lobes with no problem. Perhaps you should discuss this with a pulmonologist.

Thank you Tina! I’ve been wondering. What grade is your cancer? It’s amazing that you’ve had mets to the lungs for so long and now on hiatus!! That’s soooo encouraging!! I have them in both lungs and one is near the airway and one other ear the aorta. Do you have any in those areas?

    Congrats !🎊

    Ginny,

My cancer's grade has never been mentioned on pathology reports. As for locations, I know 19 (!) nodules showed on the first scan and they were all over both lobes. Most resolved over time, with several of the most stubborn areas being in the upper lobe of one lung and the lower of the other. As far as what they are/were near, I don't know offhand. I'll look up a path report and let you know.

Thanks again, Tina. WOW 19! I have 5 small ones and you’ve been on one drug since 2011....that’s amazing! I wonder why I’m on 2 drugs 🤔. I’ll ask my onc who is going to order CT at the end of my second cycle.

I’m so encouraged and appreciative of your story! Thanks for sharing !

    Ginny,

I don't have lung mets, I have traveled quite a bit since my dx. My docs said go for it and I even climbed the Harbour Bridge in Sydney as well as canoeing in Alaska, walking on glaciers and many other wonderful things. If you can do it, go and enjoy every minute 😊 .

I too travel[ed] extensively on Fas and Ibrance, and lots of other meds. In fact I'm on Halaven now and am heading to Barcelona in September.

No lung mets though. Bone mets mostly. But I can't see why having lung mets would matter unless you are having trouble with your breathing. Check in with your doc then buy yourself some plane tickets.

Don't let cancer keep you grounded. Live your life. See great things.

P.S. Ginny, you're on two drug instead of one because when Tina started out Ibrance wasn't on the market. . .

    Ginny,

I'll chime in too. I am also only on an AI because Ibrance was still in trials when I started. When it was approved I was NED, still am, but my mo and I saw no reason to add it.

So true, ladies! Ibrance was barely a gleam in Pfizer's eye when I started on Faslodex. When Ibrance came on the market, I discussed it with my MO. We decided there was no reason to mess with the status quo since I was doing so well on one treatment.
