Aging Silicone Breast Implants and Stage IV

My silicone breast implants are now over 10 years old. It was my intention to remove and replace them at 10 years, mainly to clean up some painful scar tissue. At that time, there really wasn't any data to recommend when to remove silicone implants or if it was okay to keep indefinitely.

My breast cancer returned in 2016 as it was metastatic to liver.

I consulted with my plastic surgeon and she said do not remove them. But I suspect she now feels they will outlast me.. so what is the point..

So, just curious, what have others done in this situation? Just let it be?

Sandi, I am in a similar situation. I had mine done over 12 years ago and one side has been causing me problems the whole time - rippling, capsular contracture. The side that had BC looks great but the other side, where I had no cancer, doesn't look so great. It is as if too much fat around the top of the breast tissue was removed and my muscle was not cut properly and lays very tight over the middle of the implant. I would like at least that side replaced but feel I would be laughed out of the surgeon's office and told to go home and enjoy the rest of my life. I hope others chime in.
