Vickie, great!! one afghan in the mail.
I worked on my squares all day, doing the black outline...I will start stitching them together tomorrow.
Cheri, I apologize for not responding sooner to your request about hook size. I did have the day off of work and did spend the day cooking and working on the afghan.
I should have enough for 1 afghan. If anyone needs my address, please send me a PM.
Thanks, Madison -
Hey thanks Always. Madison don't worry about it I asked for help and it wasn't 5 min before i got a pm! then they came one after the other, it was great.
cheri -
Hehehehe. I thought I had this the right length, the little booger shrinks up when ya go back thru doesn't it. This is how pitiful I am at this! lol But a friend is coming tomorrow to help me. You'll agree that I need it.
-
Ok. I undid that mess. The lady that was going to help me wasn't home today. So I sat here & looked at it. I looked through Madisons book & thought I'd give it another try. I can proudly say I am now on my 5th row. Now, these are far from perfect rows and I still haven't quite got the turning around down pat but it doesn't look too bad for a beginner on my own. It's a little nerve wracking right now cos I don't know what I'm doing but I know once I learn it I think it'll be very relaxing. They'll be sloppy at first but I think I can get it. Thanks to all that's helped me so far.

Looks good to me, Cheri!
I wish I'd get past this stupid Taxol fatigue so I'd have the ooomph to go into the basement and dig out the yarn I know is there, and start making squares....
Anne -
oh noooo, Anne! I undid that mess & started another that's much better, I hope. lol

Okay, my dear friends,
I have one row completed!!!!
Another row almost completed.
I received some squares from Denise sooooo I have enough to finish an afghan.
I hope to have more done before DD leaves tomorrow (I have DH cooking supper tonight)....so DD can help me post some pictures!!!!
Vickie, my dear, how many down and how many across?
I know you told me earlier, but I can't remember ANYTHING anymore.
Love you all to pieces, Madison -
Hi everyone
Well, so far I have half a square done my fingers are too sore right now (Arimidex) BUT my Mom lives in a home and she was soooo happy to get involved. She got them all needles and yarn and they are knitting/crocheting up a storm I will let you know when I have enough to mail.
Hugs
CherylG -
Cheri, I think your squares will be the most beautiful in the whole afgan because you have put so much heart into them.
-
Hi girls, I have 3 1/2 whole squares done. LOL I have learned to relax (a bit) and enjoy this now. A lady I know wants to contribute squares so I told her to do what she wanted and then I'd mail them with mine. She crochet's a lot so I'm sure she'll have twice the amount I will.
Cheri - Keep it up hon. You are doing great and they will be from the heart.
Hugs
Liz -
Awwww, Always that was really sweet. I now am on row 6, yep I really am. They are far from perfect but not too darn bad. I've worked hard on this and I know it's quite simple but I'm all thumbs. When I get a square almost done I'll take a pic to show you all & see what you think.

Madison
I sent 13 squares off to you by priority mail on Tuesday (2/20). You should get them on Thursday, Friday at the latest.
Cherryl -
Cherryl, thank you. I had made 55 squares earlier, so between your squares and those Denise sent me I may have enough to do almost 2 afghans.
I have three rows completed on the new afghan, and will begin sewing the 4th row this afternoon (unless I play don't go to work today as DD is leaving for her military base this morning).
I don't wanna go to work....I wanna stay home and crochet and visit with DD.....whine, whine
I'll try to post pics of the afghan. I may have to e-mail them to Vickie to post. Vickie could you do this for me?
Thanks, Dee -
Madison...I would be happy to post the pictures of the afghan.
You ladies are the greatest! I am working on number two now which I believe is going to Vicky the dressmaker.
We need to come up with a list of receipents so let me know who is in need of some of our love.
Liz and Cheri...made with love...that's all that matters. I love that we have extra people making squares.
Love and hugs to all
Vickie
Kimmytoo...are you feeling better? -
-
Oh my goodness,
Sorry this is so big.
DD is helping me learn how to post pics.
The only problem is that the battery is dead in the digital camera, so I'm going to re-charge the battery to take pics of the new afghan.
Okay, how do you re-size these things.
Madison -
woohoo Madison...you did it! What a beautiful afghan.
Hugs to you
Vickie -
Trying to post a pic of the new afghan I am working on:
-
Ok I want to know how you made the kitty pictures on the afgan. I tried to use a puff stitch to make a heart and my squares sizing got all wierd.
Sue -
Madison...it's beautiful!! Nice job...isn't this sooo much fun. I can hardly wait to get home to crochet!!
Hugs and love
Vickie -
Sue, there are times when making a true crochet pattern that the piece will not be in the correct shape until the squares are put together.....There have been many afghans that I have made that didn't lay flat (or correct) until the afghan was totally constructed. You may have to experiment with the tension on your yarn.
Vickie, yep, it is fun. I am now at work BUT WANNA BE HOME.....
Love you all Madison -
heehee Madison...I'm at work and want to be at home too!!
Love
Vickie -
Madison,
I sent a dozen squares to you today, they went priority mail so the post office said the package should get to you in a couple of days.
Take care,
Pat -
Cherryl,
I did get your squares in the mail today. Yippe, the are gorgeous.
Pat, I'll be on the lookout for your squares.....Yea!!!
Love ya'll, Madison -
Ooooh, I get so excited when you ladies post pictures of the Afghans! They are so beautiful..And the meaning of them is just perfect.(for the lack of a better word!)
Before this project was started. I did nothing. I had no confidence that I could do anything. My DD would get quite upset because I always said, "I Can't." (She can make anything she looks at!) I would buy a craft, decide I couldn't do it and put it in the "bad craft bucket." Well, Thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart. When you announced this project, I became determined. I had a real need to help with these afghans. It took me a couple of weeks to get started, and no, they are not perfect. First batch is just that, the first. Second, better than the first, and third..better than the second. I've made about 40 of them now. I have no idea why I'm writing all this. But I want you to know that you TRULY and REALLY helped me WANT to learn to do something. That is a biggie!
Love and Hugs,
Denise -
Ok. I had a friend come out & showed me how to do this. The double crochet thing. I was trying and then ended up single and the double is so much better. I can't wait until I get a whole square done so I can snap a pic of it. I'll really enjoy this after I get the hang of it.
Madison, the afghan is looking really pretty. Great job. I'm following your directions.
pals
cheri -
Cheri, yep, the double crochet is a good stitch...it goes faster than a single crochet....Show us you square when you finish.
Denise, Cherryl, and all who have sent squares, I even have DH trying to help me decide what square to sew in next on the row.......you should see me crawling on the floor going "no, I like this one better here...no here...maybe here...." It is fun.
Vickie and I need names of people to receive these afghans....put your thinking caps on....let us know
Love ya'll Madison -
You ladies are the greatest! I am beginning to sew number two together now and I think I have enough squares...I'll count them tomorrow and let you know.
This is sooo much fun!
Love
Vickie -
Just popping in to say one more thing
