Vinocap
Vinorelbine plus Capecitabine (Vinocap): a retrospective analysis in heavily pretreated HER2 negative metastatic breast cancer patients. Alfredo Torres 2019.
I couldn't manage to copy the link for this 8 page article. Maybe someone else can. I'm hoping to start this treatment in a couple of weeks.

It's here: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs10549-019-05203-1 but there's a paywall. If you really want to read the whole thing PM me and I'll see if I can get the full text.
Retrospective study so there's a pile of confounding. It looks like the regimen did work for a number of women. No idea who they were and what chemos they had previously taken.
I hope this works for you. No reason it shouldn't!

I have read the full article, which was also composed of graphs and other statistics. Just not able to share it.
Coincidently, I had a tumor assay done by Dr Nagourney at Rational Therapeutics recently. And though I have become quite medication resistant, this combo showed some activity (ie: promise) in my tumor. That's why I'm ready to try it.
I'll keep y'all posted

Here's how my retired pharmacist mind works: not realizing the combination of two agents was being described, I thought maybe some company extracted all the good stuff of red wine=vino and put it in a capsule! 🍷
Seriously though, it's nice to know this kind of work is being pursued and hopefully those who try it have success.
I attended a conference on metastatic breast cancer last week. One speaker gave a background perspective as to why, historically, such little research was being done. In the past, the attitude was 'these patients are going to die soon so why bother?' We should certainly be thankful for advocates who spoke up to push for more funding and also for anyone who ever signed up to participate in a clinical study.

Sunset, I have read that the combo can have good results. I just started vino (Navelbine) only but do keep the possibility of adding capecitabine (Xeloda) in the back of my mind. I am on Navelbine and Tamoxifen, actually. I plan at some point to try Xeloda again in combination with something else, either Navelbine or another drug. Did Dr. Nagourney have any additional recommendations?
vlnrph, I would much prefer to be on your definition of vino in "vinocap" than the real thing!
-
vlnrph, I thought the same thing! Maybe I had too much vino last night.
Sounds very promising, BeautifulSunset!!

I am very excited to be starting this treatment early in June, once I am healed from the Y90.
Fingers crossed.
