TNBC METS to lung & bone. Abraxane tecentriq tx
Hi everyone,
My mom had stage 1 TNBC with no lymph node involvement in 2014. Almost 5 years later, we just found out this week that she has reoccurrence stage 4 metastatic to bone and lung. Our family is absolutely devastated. She is completely healthy, 56 and has no symptoms. I am only 25 and do not know what I would do without her.
Her oncologist is planning to start her on Tecentriq and abraxane next week. I was wondering if any of you had similar stories with Mets to bone and lung? What your treatments were? Also if any of you have had abraxane and Tecentriq? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Praying for all of you and your families 🙏🏻

Hi Keller27
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. Can I ask how did they find her mets? how big were the the lung mets? is there one or more in her lung? and where is it on her bone?. There are lots of option now a days so my oncologist tells me. Hang in how is she doing mentally? Let her know of this site it helps It sure helps me as I wait for results.

I'm sure you are all devastated--it's so unexpected when you could reasonably assume that she doesn't have to worry about re-occurrence. Have they done a biopsy on the distant mets? I just had that done and found out that my mets are not triple negative, but are E+.
This could turn out ok for your mom. I have been living with 2 kinds of breast cancer for 20 years--both E+ and TNBC. And inflammatory. I'm still doing ok. Just plugging along. Hope for the best because it can happen.
BTW, I did have Abraxane and it was very effective. I knew from the first infusion that it was working. Be sure they give her a good antiemetic. I used Emend but everyone has their own favorite.

This is just what a I needed to hear! This gave me some relief.Thank you so much! Yes they did a biopsy of a mass that showed up in the subcutaneous skin of her back (they said it was a very atypical presentation). They also biopsied a new lump found in her breast and that is still pending. How were your side effects for abraxane? I will make sure she has an antiemetic. Thank you again! I truly appreciate it.

Hi Pippy,
She had a superficial lump in her right lower back since December, which 4 doctors said it was a lipoma. It looked just like one- not their fault at all. And also very atypical location for cancer to pop up. Then just two weeks ago she found a lump in her breast. She saw her doctor and they did a punch biopsy. Then I told her let’s just get that “lipoma” taken out too while we’re at it. Much to our surprise that biopsy came back the very next day as metastatic cancer, triple negative. Then the breast cake back as the same. This past week she’s had a CT and bone scan showing just one mass in her lung but it is 3.4 x 2.7 cm. Pretty big unfortunately. This scares me. The bone scan showed a mass in her femur humerus. They did not provide a size. I am worried about her brain as she complains of some vision symptoms and that has not been scanned. So i insisted on her getting just to be sure just sure. We will find out those results next a week. Hoping and praying for good news 🙏🏻🙏🏻
She has her ups and downs. She is very worried and of course just keeps thinking of us and doesn’t want us to go through this. She is an amazing, selfless person. She has so many people who love and support her. Her oncologist and providers at the scans must think we’re crazy because she has a whole entourage for every appointment. It’s becauae we know she would never miss anything for us and would be there in a heartbeat.

Hi Keller,
I was diagnosed stage 3 Tripple Negative Breast Cancer in January of 2017. After Chemo, Surgery, radiation and more oral chemo, I had follow up screens that showed it matastisized to my lungs, bones, lymph nodes, and liver. July 3018 I was diagnosed stage 4. My Dr. Started me on Tecentriq and Abraxane two weeks ago as a last resort after trying multiple othe drug combinations. The insurance company said they approved the use of the drug and sent an approval letter. I only received one treatmen and they refuse to pay. It is an 11,000 dollar treatment. We started the appeal process but have not heard back yet.
Any way I can not tell you much about the side effects and such since I only had one treatment but please keep in mind the insurance could refuse to cover the drug. Good Luck—- Amscot

Also I have been on Taxol and then Abraxane (another form of Taxol) and Carboplatin for over 6 months and my only major side effect has been mucositis (bad sores in my mouth all the way through my entire gastrointestinal track.) This put me in the hospital for a week and took over a month to recover from. I think this happened because my immune system was down to nothing, my liver was not functioning properly because of the cancer matastisizing to my liver, and they were giving me very high doses.
Other wise on a daily bases I have not had any major side effects with the Abraxane. Still went to work full time and everything.
