I was dx thyroid cancer in 1996, and then MBC de novo in 2015. I've been on synthroid since and kept closer to a hyper states in order to create a less desirable environment for the thyroid cancer.

Since approximately one in eight women will have a thyroid disorder sometime in life and bout 13% of women will develop breast cancer there is naturally a lot of overlap of the two conditions.

I developed both hypothyroidism and cancer in my 20s. Both rare at such a young age. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 28 and probably had it for a few years based on my symptoms. After years of delay in dx, I was finally diagnosed with cancer at 30. I have required a dose of levothyroxine on the higher side since then. My sister also developed low thyroid in her 20s but no one in my immediate family has had breast cancer other than me.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was about age 45 and BC at age 59 though a slow growing hard to see ILC so probably had it much earlier. It’s a pretty long gap in between.

I have never had thyroid issues that I know of, but I read a lot about complimentary treatment and an article I read years ago said the the rda of iodine was enough for our thyroid but not nearly enough for other organs that need it, one of them being the breasts. I put a drop in my coffee every morning.

Diagnosed with Hashimotos thirteen years before breast cancer diagnoses. Radiation destroyed what thyroid function I had left. Levothyroxine dosage changed often.

hi everyone, Thyroid disease is relatively common, I have had hashimoto type since 28years old. I truly think any suggested relationship is merely between BC and thyroid is due to the large numbers of people who have both vs any causal effect.
