micmel- approximately 10 years ago during the Christmas holidays I put up doggie Christmas stockings on my fireplace mantel. Of course, filled with dog treats. I heard a crash during the middle of the night and rushed to my living room. My beagle had pulled every single doggie Christmas stocking off the mantle and was happily devouring the Christmas treats. I couldn't stay mad he just looked too adorable. This was the same beagle who stole the Christmas ham 2 years later. Thinking about those incidents still makes me smile. He had no shame. Now, the Christmas doggy stockings remain empty until Christmas Day.

Jo~Lol that is too much. I can picture the entire incident and I am laughing out loud. Lol they really are entertaining.

One Christmas I was working on the computer and heard a little noise in the hallway, I went to investigate and at first I only saw my poinsettia plant had taken a turn for the worst all of a sudden. It looked like it was mowed down to a mere little stalk. This plant was a beauty. About thirty full leaves. Berries and all just purchased. So I google ....

“What happens to your dog when he eats a pointsettia plant?" Results:

A)Incessant lip smacking (as I hear him coming down the stairs literally smacking his lips. as I read these side effects all unfolding in front of my eyes). B) excessive mouth watering and numbness like Novocaine for a person. ( He comes around the corner with long drool strings looking at me whining) C) vomiting and diarrhea (as he circles his body around and around waiting to get outside and then is like a teeter totter vomiting and going to the bathroom at the same time. Quite comical i might add! D) constant thirst following relief of mouth numbness. (He was looking everywhere for water. I couldn't keep both bowls filled enough) E) Stomach aches and noises from distress of relieving itself of contents of stomach and reactions. (He was moaning, his stomach sounded like a carnival, he had gas ⛽️ bad and his stomach had a band playing all night. He was his own one dog band for hours.)

P.s had this been a cat. It would have killed him.

Never bought another poinsettia plant again. But it was quite the experience!!!

micmel- that is so funny. But you're right if it had been your cat you would have had one dead Kitty. I don't buy poinsettias for that reason. You're the first person who has ever told me their dog actually ate a poinsettia. I always felt poinsettia would be bitter tasting. I guess a dogs taste is far different from a person's. Especially considering what dogs like to lick.

I’ve never had a dog eat one, won’t have them in the house or yard for that reason. Too scary.

this dog has eaten so many things it’s amazing. I’m allergic to cats. So that’s why I bought one. Didn’t think a dog would be interested. He has swallowed pounds of chocolate and was nice enough to decorate our snow with lovely tin foil from the Hershey’s kisses he stole and ate foil and all. He’s a walker coon hound so he’s always on the hunt and can open cabinets as well. Quite the worker!

My min poodle was like that. My mom had a small (thank goodness) jar of vasoline by her bed. Tasha jumped up, got the lid off, and ate it all. She didn’t have any trouble pooping for a few days. She ate cig butts, used mini pads, anything she could. She was so bad, I put a muzzle on her when we’d go out.

Then when she was about 4, she ate about 5 pounds of chocolate candy, snitched off the dining room table. 7 times in the house she pooped and puked it up. She didn’t feel good for several days.

I took her to the beach on her 15th birthday in Feb, she loved it. She made it to 15 1/2 years.

love dogs. So many days. They make me smile. Our one is getting up in years now. Back legs doing the wiggles when he moves too fast. Hoping to hang onto him a long time. More. Ty for sharing !

imageHere the other is right next to my side as always making sure I'm not in any danger or out of his sight. Sleeping next to mama as she watches (I can't believe I'm going to admit this.) Charlie's Angels!!! Lol

spookiesmom-Showoff!! LOL I would have to give my dogs some serious tranquilizets for a Santa pic. Even with drugs one would rip off Santa's beard, the other would pee on him and the third would probably try to hump him. Your girl looks beautiful. She is such a cutie. You should enter her in a Contest.

    Micmel-you have such good dogs.

Pebbles- what can I say? Pictures of Domino makes me smile

micmel he’s definitely protecting you! And getting some cuddle in too. Of course.

Here is Tucker, my protector, cuddling up to his “paw mom” after a busy weekend. He’s 16 or 17 now and still going strong! The world’s longest living dog was a border collie mix like him so I’m hoping...

And for jo6359 and a smile - here’s Domino! I think she wants to watch Charlie’s Angels with micmel
