Pharmacist tells me to safe my money on vitamins
I take vitamins, quite a few of hem, but I eat also very healthy, and have no weight issues.
The pharmacist at my hospital just mentioned that its useless, and no proof that your energy level or well being or cancer will
get better what so ever.
I should safe my money.
Just like to hear what you Ladies think.

I guess it just depends on what you are taking?
I am a fan of some supplements and herbs - based on what needs arise.
I also have extensive training in Chinese herbal medicine and nutritional supplements and medical nutrition support, so I feel like I am biased.
I do not believe that pharmacy school typically spends much time discussing the benefits of supplements for medical support.
I do however, look to evidence based research that shows effectiveness of supplements (on humans! Not rats or mice or Petri dishes) before I prescribe anything to anyone.
The supplement industry is absolutely an industry, it is a business, just like the pharmaceutical industry. They both want consumers money and our loyalty. Some things actually do work, in both realms. It is simply being educated about both sides of the coin that is important.

That's my understanding too, that unless you have a specific deficiency, taking vitamins doesn't help and in some cases can harm.
For me, I take a supplement if I can feel a difference that lets me know it's working. (I know there can be placebo effect involved, and I decided that's ok for me to count as working). I try a far number of things and most of them I end up giving up. Afaik, there's not enough evidence for almost any supplement to make it worthwhile taking without seeing a tangible benefit.

It's funny, I was told by my Oncologist to take Vitamin B Complex and Alpha Lipoic Acid for Neuropathy and my Psychiatrist says to take Magnesium for anxiety and my plastic surgeon had me take a multivitamin two weeks before nipple recon and after for healing.

My onc is big on supplements and I take the following at her suggestion... Co q 10, Calcium with vitamin D, Magnesium, and Vitamin D3.
