How is MBC treatment in the EU/EEA?

Options

Hello Everyone,

is anyone being treated in or near Netherlands, Italy, Iceland, Norway, Spain, France? Are you happy with it? Anyone taking Ibrance?

Thanks. NYC and the US don't hold the same charm they once did...

:)

    Hey there!

My wife is American but she is being treated in Italy. As far as what we have experienced, the line of treatments and the protocols MOs go by are very similar to America. Doctors here seem to be a little more relaxed (too much for our liking at times) compared to some of our own experiences in the States and from what I read online on these boards. For instance, they are less strict when it comes to scanning every three months. Having universal health care definitely pushes out of the way the hassle and the worry of insurance approvals.

Oh wow! Thank you. Where in Italy (what city or town) is your wife taking treatment? I am an Italian dual citizen (though I have yet to live there) and I am considering moving to Italy. Thank you so much for your response.

I wonder if they are “relaxed” because they’re Italian ;) or is it because they want to reduce the toxic load.

We go to Milan. The city itself offers three of the best cancer facilities in Italy. I would urge you to look into it because it really is as good as it gets. Cancer patients, no matter the type or the stage, get a full exemption for all things health related, so no copay at all. You just need to have a fiscal code (SSN), which you should be entitled to as soon as you move your residency here. ;)
