Let's conduct our own study on how we all got breast cancer

My brother, a retired doctor, says it might have come from my mother doing crossword puzzles in the shower. Of course, he was joking, but I do remember doing them myself while taking a bath. Perhaps some kind of toxic chemical reaction occurs when water splashes on the paper? Or maybe it's harmful to think while wet?
-
Alicebastable, don't forget eating the Elmer's Paste
-
Melissa - eating Elmer's paste? Is this a childhood joy I missed out on?
-
I don't recall eating paste, but I did consume a lot of pencils.
-
Alice - I hear pencils are jam packed with fiber! As are the paper muffin liners I would peel off the muffin and eat as a kid. Thinking I should check into getting a colonoscopy;)))
-
I think mine came from eating a red M&M 😱
-
Bella - LOL! I once got horribly ill after eating a red Jelly Tot....that I found on the sidewalk. Give me some leeway, I was 5 at the time
)))
-
I used to eat paper and nosh on my erasers as a kid!! :-)
-
Or from sneaking a piece of Brach's Pick-A-Mix out of the bins when I was little...too tempting...either that, or I'm going to hell for stealing penny candy
-
Mine definitely came from reading under the blanket. And drinking a glass of red wine once a week. And living close to Chernobyl when it exploded. Oh, wait, the last one definitely is not to blame. Must be the pesticides and parabens in facial creams.
-
You guys are too funny! Can’t blame mine on beanie babies although I have a zillion or dolls in general. My sister and I bought got it from our Mom. Then again at least for me it coujd have been all the drinking and partying I did in high school and college.

Ohhh, forgot about reading under the blanket. The light probably combined with the lack of oxygen to create a 'cancer' environment where the little critters went up our nose and traveled down to live in the breast.
-
So glad to find this one...you all are hilarious!! Lol@Vampeyes saying she named her BC after her MIL. Hahahaha!!!
I think my cancer was caused by holding in all that gas when I was young...like in class, on dates etc...
That, or all the POLO cologne I inhaled on those dates. Guys in the 80's wore that like the kids today wear Axe body spray. Heavy!!!
Maybe it was MY perfume. Gloria Vanderbilt and Liz Claiborne!!!
-
or Jovan Musk....
-
SnoBalls.. pink boob-shaped sugar cakes! I didn't eat too many as an adult though.
-
My dad used to bring one of those sprayers that you pump up and has a round can attached INTO the house to spray for mosquitoes. DDT? probably. Remodeled a whole house removing lead paint with a heat gun. I've been leading stain glass windows for years.
We had an old VW bug where the upholstery ripped and I chewed up the foam underneath. My parents were hippies and didn't care about most misbehavior but that was one of the only times I got to see my dad mad. There was a grapefruit size hole.
Another theory (most likely): I waited for 'him' to call for most of my 20s and 30s. The him changed...the waiting didn't. It took me to almost 50 to find a partner.

Patoo and Egads,
You mentioned stirrup pants a few pages back. I was just in Walmart and saw these. Gawd I hope they're not making a comeback!
-
Patoo and InnaB are right. Reading in bed causes cancer. Especially fairy tales. The characters can escape when trapped under a blanket. My cancer was caused by the Big Bad Wolf.
-
Yeah, the stirrup pants, holding the legs down so the cancel cells could not escape through your ankles. Yep, that's on the short list.
-
I think we are onto something with this reading by flashlight under the covers thing. Serves my parents right for making me turn off the light at "bedtime."
-
I had no idea that all those years of reading under the covers would have resulted in this...
-
Mine was caused by going barefoot as a young child. Always wear your shoes !
-
Due state mandate, I have seen "Warning, this product may contain one or more substances known to the state to cause cancer" signs popping up everywhere, including in front of the bread at the bakery at the market, the canned olive section, and most recently, in front of a plate of cookies at a car dealership.
Given the sheer volume of people who eat bread, globally, since antiquity, I doubt typical bread consumption is a major cause
-
It's probably all the peanut butter and jelly we put on top of it! Lol
-
Haven't read all the posts here yet, but I have to say that high-top Reeboks with the velcro straps have to be suspect. I had them in several colors, although not pink.
-
Kat22, maybe that's why you "got it", no pink Reeboks!
-
Lol that doll is a tad freaky.
Going back to the fair thing I think the great from being stuck on the top of the double Ferris wheel did it! (Sounds plausible huh?)
Or maybe it was those hideous Halloween costumes with the plastic masks you couldn't see out of.
-
I am highly suspicious that watching the Partridge Family and Brady Bunch every Friday nightfor many years contributed to my cancer
-
Haha Capecodgirl! My mom and I were just talking about that last week. I was about 4 I think, and my dad used to tease me and say I didn't want to watch them because they all had stinky feet, and then he'd laugh like crazy!
-
Vslush, you shoulda listened to your dad! Remember "Father Knows Best" and so that's why you got it.
