    I was dx Stage 4 w mets in Jan. Ibrance/Faslodex didn't work for me as lymph nodes mets enlarged more & spread plus another new 2.5 cm tumor developed in chest my MO is recommending to start this new 2 drug combination of Affinator + Exeme... Am concerned re mouth sores & side effects . Advice??? I've been lurking but now need help

    Dx IIIB. July 2013 with ACT chemo, surgery, radiation ending June 2014 grade 5

    Reoccurrence Jan 2018 throughout most upper body lymph nodes

    kellyga, yes I took that combo plus palbociclib for three months. Had to stop due to a lung inflammation. It was almost certainly due to the combo of palbo lowering the white counts and Afinitor doing it's whammy.

    Afinitor is a tough drug. Yes I got mouth sores but only one at a time. They weren't as annoying as they could have been, but maybe I mis-remember. And it was only three months. I don't remember any other problems. Until I got fevers and shortness of breath. Stopping the drugs solved the problem. No permanent damage.

    What I will say is it seemed to be working. We stopped due to AEs, not because it wasn't working.

    Interesting that your tumor was so resistant to Faslodex and Ibrance. A/A would be the usual next combo else you're on to chemotherapy. If you really wanted to you could do something like Xeloda (oral chemo) and go back to A/A later.

    I just failed I/F and my MO wants this combination to be my second line TX. I don't know what to expect either. But I have found the Afinitor Faslodex thread very helpful. We call this combo AA. Afinitor Aromisin. There is an old thread for it. It's not very active right now. Maybe we should reactivate it. I won't start it till the end of September. I may do a local treatment for my liver. I'll find out today.
