tumour markers gone up help

hi ladies, my tumour markers gone up to 1585 (ca-153) My other blood tests are all normal and i have no symptoms...What could it mean? Im so worried ...I havent seen my onc yet...only found out from a nurse and she couldnt explain it to me....

    From the way I understand it, the onc looks at a trend not just one value.  What were your markers up until now?  How often are you getting them checked?  Also, I have read ( on this site ) that a bump up can mean the destruction of the tumor and release of the proteins.   Most oncs will look at the Lab value along with scans before changing treatment plans. Your onc may want to recheck Lab in 1 month or schedule another scan earlier than planned.  Please keep us updated.  Maybe others will chime in and give you more information.

    I would think you would need a scan to see what is happening. Sometimes inflammation, infections can cause a small increase, but with a number in the thousands , the likelihood is that it is related to cancer. Many with mets don’t have pain and normal bloodwork and it is only through scans that the cancer is found.

    Laurish, what has your treatment been, I see you have had lever mets since 2010, can you go through your Dx and treatment with me please?
