Yay, a happy pet forum. These are my current fuzzbutts. I had the rabbit first. He's convinced I got him a kitty and cuddles the kitty all the time. If he doesn't get kitty cuddles then he seeks me out. They're both love bugs.

Thanks for starting this topic, Druanne! I have three kitties. The first, Lucy, I got for my 7 yr old boy, Imp, as he'd lost his sister the previous year from renal issues. She was a feral rescue, trapped with two siblings when they were 5 wks old. She's a beautiful long-haired black cat.
The lady that managed the feral colony wanted to have them spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and then taken back to the colony. This would also have involved slicing off the tip of her left ear, which is the universal sign that the animal has been neutered and is part of a managed feral colony. Fortunately, the lady that runs the shelter was able to convince her that they were young enough to be tamed and live a long, happy life indoors. I got her at 8 wks, still with stitches in her belly. She and Imp got along great, but then a month later, Imp died suddenly from a bowel obstruction/perforation.
So now I had a 12 wk old kitten who had already been through so much, alone again. So I went back to the shelter for a kitten her age, so they could finish growing up together. Her name is Lovey because she is, well... an attention whore who is aggressively friendly. I've almost got her broken of sticking her cold, wet nose in my ear, esp. when I'm sleeping! She's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but Lucy loves playing with her, which is what I wanted. She's a short-haired tabby calico. It had been a stressful month of July, but I thought I was done.
Then I went to a cat show in mid-November. I thought I could get some toys for the girls and watch the judging. And at the back of the Expo hall, another no-kill shelter had brought in kitties up for adoption. And I saw this absolutely gorgeous, sweet-faced kitty with long black hair and extra toes, and I couldn't leave her there.
Her name is Swiffer for her habit of exploring small spaces and coming out covered with cobwebs. She's about 14-15 wks old now, and the older girls are 7 mos old.
-
Riley they are beautiful! I just want to thank you for being so generous and caring for giving three kitties the chance of a long happy life
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Thanks, but I think I get just as much out of the deal. They're company, entertainment and affection 24/7/365. They don't mind me talking to them, and they give me the incentive to take better care of myself, for who would take care of them otherwise? And I don't think I'll ever get anything but shelter critters from now on. They've really gotten used to being around other animals and people, so they're very adaptive. And grateful, I think.
-
They are all so beautiful and look so very happy riley702!!!! You are blessed!
LOVE LOVE seeing everybody's babies!!!!

This is such a great forum topic. Thank you Druanne for starting it.
Riley702, your girls are beautiful. Makes me want a kitten. But no more pets. I live in a bedroom of a group house and any more than what I have would be way too much.

I love the pictures- great thread.
The kittens in the picture I posted were found abandoned by a friend of mine, the vet guessed they were about four weeks old or so. They are the sweetest kitties ever. Now they are almost 6 months old and weigh about 5 pounds, neither even weighed a pound when I got them.
-
Laurie, four week olds take a lot of time and effort. Good for you! And your reward are the sweet kitties loving you forever. Animals really don't judge us like other people do, they don't care what we look like or do.
Druanne, love your fur babies! The dogs are very tolerant of being dressed up. Years ago, I tried to put angel wings and a halo on my then kitty to take pics for Christmas. She did "alligator death rolls" across the living room until she got them off and then she shredded them! LOL I never tried that again. Love the doggie boots, too.
Is that ball in the last pic with your horses some kind of toy or a small pumpkin?
