PARP Inhibitors - anyone on them?

As luck would have it, my first treatment - Ibrance - has failed. Just found out on Tuesday following scans. I am BRCA+ and my MO had mentioned the newly approved PARP inhibitors would likely be my next treatment and his first patient on them.

On Tuesday he mentioned I could go the traditional/approved PARP route, or I could try a trial. The trial is a mix of PARP and chemo. He was excited about it, thought it was the right thing at the right time and little to lose since, in essence, we were just adding a little chemo.

I met with the trial doc yesterday and liked her. Brilliant and thorough. All 8 BRCA+ patients in the trial had a response. Not sure how long or durable - but a response.

Is anyone out there on a PARP? What has your response been? Early days, I know, unless you're on a trial too. Are you BRCA+? Are you trying anything else? I'm seen at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Health.

Any info would be valuable.

    I was on a trial last year at Stanford Medical Center for a PARP inhibitor called Talazoparib. Genetic testing had shown I have a mutation in a homologous repair gene (ATM) that is predictive of PARP inhibitor success (as is a BRCA mutation) . Super easy protocol - no side effects. But my tumor markers continued to rise and while I never reached the criteria to end the trial I voluntarily quit after three months. I also failed on Ibrance. I went back on chemo (Abraxane) and my markers came down rapidly. Of course your results may be very different. Good luck with whatever you decide.
